The Solis-tek's Matrix are nice but for my garden It did not make sense to buy one. I already have equipment that does that stuff it would have been redundant to buy the matrix. They do have a model that is like all the others with the dimmable knob. I love the size of the Nano(199$). I can fit 2 of them where 1 600 would go..The heat generated from the Lumatek Is considerably hotter then the Nano. If I have any problems with it I will report it..

I don't run HID, but having seen the shortcuts that CAP takes with their other equipment, I wouldn't let anything with that brand name on it into my house. eHydroponics has that remote-controlled Solis Tek for $245, but the remote is sold separately and goes for $20. I don't know how that stacks up against the competition, but these guys have been surprising the hell out of me on pricing. I just bought a Spin-Pro from them and it was an easy $100 cheaper than almost all of the competition.

There's no way I can give a bad report for this(Nano extreme) ballast just because it says CAP on it.. That would not be right..Everyone use to say bad shit about Lumatek some still do. I have never had 1 issues with Lumatek. I have found that when your on top everyone will try to bring you down..

You can get the Solis ballast without the remote,LCD FOR 215$.

When I was buying my ballest this one was very nice. It has 4 1k ballest module inside it. This is a 4k Ballast. Here is the info on it..Price 1195$

http://www.purgro.com/ballast.html

1K4_420.jpg

Why buy four ballasts, a lighting controller and a flip box when the 1K4 does it all in one box for HALF the price?

Four individually dimmable channels -- 400 / 600 / 1000 Watts
Built-in lighting controller with 120/240 volt trigger
Built-in flip box -- run 8 lights, 4 at a time!
Connects to a single 30 amp 240 volt breaker
Lights Metal Halide or HPS lamps
All digital
Low RF noise
Eight standard plugs, your lights will plug right in
Easy to wire, solid machined-brass fittings -- no consumer electronic junk
Stealth Start up
This feature lights up each channel a random 1 seconds to 90 seconds after the last channel to keep the power company's new digital meters from identifying the load as a room full of grow lights. Top growers asked for this feature, and we built it. Exclusively from PurGro.

Technical Specs
At 92% efficiency and a crest factor of < 1.7, this is one sweet ballast. Strike voltage is well over 3000 volts to light the longest cables and the oldest lamps. Total Harmonic Distortion is less than 10% for low RF noise and minimal acoustic signature, and Power Factor is actively corrected to greater than 0.99 for maximum efficiency in power conversion. This is as good as a ballast gets! Built from scratch by PurGro, by growers for growers.

Everyone asked for the flip version, so we made it standard! Built-in controller, built-in flip and four 1000 Watt dimmable channels. Field repairable, too. Your PurGro dealer can fix these ballasts right in the store with a simple Field Repair kit from PurGro. Try THAT with anyone's else's digital ballast. Solid equipment, great price, and you can actually fix it yourself.

4 k one box to me sounds like a possible disaster i bet that thing is hotter then a red hot chilli pepper after 18 hrs on full power

In the pdf, I believe the wire loop should be reversed in the "Good" photo so the loop tightens as you turn the screw clockwise.

I would not know.. I don't own one. All of the info is from there website. These ballast from what I here are outstanding. The commercial growers love them..for 16k you need 4 units..There in 1 box but there separate. You can use 1 to 4 or any combo. If I had a commercial op I would get these no question.. 8 k in one room then flip to the other room..I like it..

Good luck with what ever you get gnome im sure you will be happy with what you decide to get..

thanks hammer, I knew technology would kick in eventually with the e ballasts.
so many nice features in the purgro.
now i'm getting sensory overload on what ballast would serve me best. I still haven't completely ruled out going with mag's

I like the one hammer showed because of the flip feature, my room will have 6000w bare bulb but its sized for 8 and but will probably have to go air cooled if i go that route.
I would have plenty of headroom, maybe too much with cooling doing 4kw-4kw flipped.
I have a 32,500btu mini

one thing that keeps nagging at me is if it does down, I like the idea the 4 ballasts are interchangeable easily, and really like that they can be repaired with the field kit buit having to take it to an authorized dealer to do that can be a big prob.
i wonder if, i'm sure you can do it your self if you have it handy.
If going with this ballast i would definitely have a spare 1000w and the field repair kit if possible
decision decisions

Just a little devil's advocate here - don't fall into the Solis-Tek marketing hype so easy folks. Some of you are saying they are made in Japan but if you look closely I think you will be unable to source that statement.

The most said about Solis-Tek is that they are "Utilizing Japanese components". Not that they are made in japan or that they use japanese components exclusively. I have heard another member claim his even said "Made in China" on the side.

solis tek are great until 1 dies within it first 2 weeks like somebody i knows did. blew his brand new600 w sunmaster bulb too. luckily it didnt catch fire but when he put in a new bulb it started kicking off within 5 minutes and kicking back on within 2 minutes and saying error 05 on the screen in between. i figured it blew his other bulb by constantly restriking while still hot. they sent a replacement no prob right away tho. galaxy select a watts i can vouch for tho ive seen many in use w no probs 3+ years

looking at picking up a few of these.
i like the the 15sec variable start feature that will stagger the 6 I'll be running.
looks like they ony run on 120v only, not 240v which I prefer

hoping other IC'rs have exp with it
Yo due your research or ask a question before postin stupid shit, the nanos are self adjusting, just plug them in 240, and they run...

i have no exp with these but i do with cap... they are ok at best... not saying this wont be good but who in the fuck builds a ballast these days without it being able to run 240...? That alone should tell you that its not worth it..

too cheap to put a 240 plugin socket?? what else were they too cheap on?
The nanos self adjust to 240, just plug in to 240 it runs 240, no need for different connection....they are TRUE digital

And wiring 240 up to a 120 outlet is TRUE idiocy. Maybe you should do your research before postin stupid shit

I really like my Galaxy select-a-watts but they don't work well with my Flipboxes (the Powerbox product). My Quantum is a much better choice for reliable flipping. The Galaxy is a great choice for non-flip setups though!

you can get digital ballasts off alibaba for 60/usd you can even spec the componants you want used in the ballast for low emi/rf

not sure why anyone would pay 200+ dollars for one

On alibaba there's usually a minimum quantity. If you see one with a 1 minimum the price is usually a range, like 60-200. Have you gotten an actual quote on one in particular that you can order just 1 of for $60, if so which one?
