veg light v.s flowring lighting question

hey I thought I read somewere that when the plants are vegging they don't need as much light as they do flowering , is this true?

It is true cause they are smaller, they got fewer leafs and a smaler lighting equipement can provide them enough ligh!!
The amount of the light u got to have is based on the plants u wanna growand the room u got to cover. No on the veg/flower stage!!
The bigger the plant/room the bigger the light u must have!!

You can veg plants with less light, especially if you're in no hurry. CFLs and flourescents are good for this. If plants feel at all starved for light then they will reach out for it. Be careful they don't stretch more than you want.

you can slow growth by cutting lumens too.
small amounts of light(lumens) will keep your girl in veg as long as the timing isn't dropped to 12/12 or thereabouts.
obviously the more lumens you provide in any stage of growth, the faster and more vigorous your plants will respond.

ok so with that being said let me get you guys input on what im doing.

Im going to be using two grow tents 4x8x8 or 4x8x7 one for flowering and one for vegging. each have tent has two lights.. Im going to be rotating 4 plants every month. So in the flowring tent I will start with one set of 4 then next month add a nother set.. Then on month 3 the frist set move it to the flowering tent and so on and so on. So each set of plants will spend two months in each tent.

so what I was going to do is use two 600 watt light in each tent. Now would it be better to do it that way or use 400 watt lights in the vegging tent then use 1000 watt lights in the flowering tent. wich way do you guys think would allow me to get the most yield? I plan on using mh in the vegging and hps in the flowering.

I would go 600 and 1k, but 400 and 1k, I see no reason why it wouldn't work you will likely get some stretch from the girls around the outside of the light footprint.

The only downside is there's a significant difference in yield verses when the plants are giving 5-7 days to adjust to bloom lighting... while still in veg.

It's his opinion that plants grow bigger when you move them to the bloom room if you leave them on the veg light schedule for one week so they can adjust to the light.
I guess technically they are right in that your plants will grow bigger, but they would grow bigger anywhere you let them veg for one more week

I use t5's for veg and a 1k for flower.
On the rare occasion the plants don't get tall enough during the veg time I have let them veg for a week in the bloom room and have not noticed a difference in yield over plants that did not get the extra veg as long as they were the same overall size when starting to bloom.

He's saying that you'll get the best yield, if in the last week of veg your plants are under the same lighting they'll have in flower.

thanks guys

Having the right light is key but having a dialed environment can make the world of a difference no matter what light you use. food for thought

umm could some one explain what he means by this please?

Sorry, was sick for a couple days there. It was very interesting. :tiphat:

The main difference is when you have more watts per square foot in your bloom lighting.

Giving the plants 5-7 days to adjust to the lighting allows them to take full advantage of the light... as soon as you flip to flower.

It has nothing to do with 'more veg time' as it's actually still veg, you're simply giving it time to adapt to each condition separately. First get used to the lighting intensity (and possible spectrum differences) and then focus completely on flowering.

some times being able to obtain the 50wtts/sq.ft. creates heat and humidity that needs to be controlled or else your yield could suffer because your environment wasn't dialed to control it. things to think about.
