What about a smaller container? I don't know about the angle opened ones, but I have seen 1 and 5 gallons containers for 12 and 20 bucks respectively...

I think what appeals to me about the angled screwable lids is that they are stackable. My 2 gallon black buckets were 3 bucks a piece. But need to be built into a rack to get the angle, and then had to plumb a raingutter drain system..

What i envision with these is the simplicity of stacking them without the need for building a cumbersome rack. And each container can drain into the one below with either a through the bottom drain pipe that plugs into the one below or just a bunch of holes drilled that drain into the container below. These are made with a lip and a deeper impression on the top so they will sit perfectly. You could also angle the corners anyway you want. The bottom row all the way around can be setup as an undercurrent system, constantly circulating around the circle, and will act as part of the reservoir itself. The upper rows will be aeroponic that is supplied and pumped from the undercurrent system on that bottom row. Each container will have a sprayer just like in my current system.

My wife thinks im crazy as i stayed awake tossing and turning all night blueprinting in my head.

Sure...Source the exact same containers for cheap .....if yas can....but......

If almost 3 grand worth of containers that`re perfect and`ll do the job are what`s needed , then put it in the budget if able......after all.......

They`re re-useable and amortized across the board with future runs until they`ve paid for themselves 100`s of times over........I`m just sayin........

Overkill`s underrated......Use the best equipment for your needs and reap the rewards.........

To be able to stack 5 containers tall that bottom row would have to be an undercurrent system with negative peripheral pressure. Otherwise i would need a drain system underneath the bottom row and would have to only go 4 containers high. I can see it in my mind how an undercurrent system circulating around the bottom row would work plumbed to a 55 gallon res with a pump system like i have now feeding the top containers....but will it work?

I need to make a sketch up and get some real feedback.

Arm...lol...I luv ya man..you are always the voice of reason! I was thinking the same thing. I could always just do a weed donut with 8 containers at ground level as an undercurrent system just to see how things pan out.

The aero system above that bottom row is just gravy as far as implementation at that point.

Hell ... you guys who love coco... could use these and top feed drain to waste in a vert setup and kill it with the run off from top container to bottom with the poked holes draining all the way down to the bottom row, and some sort of catch underneath.

Keep the ideas comin!

Here we go again with that itch to upgrade and redesign. I have a new vert vision!

It involves 80 of these stackable petfood containers. And a combination of Aero and UnderCurrent.

The size of these would allow to go 5 levels high. 4 per level 20 per wall, 4 walls.

Starting to lay awake at night thinking about it. Don't ya hate when that happends!

I'm just guessing (literally guessing) you would be looking at nothing more than the same issues you have likely already encountered and solved with your rack system.

I would take a test run with a weed doughnut first, but then I don't have the experience you have!
You do a good job turning out nice white healthy roots, and Im thinkin thats gotta be 98% of the battle.

Thanks Hazed! You are soooo right!!!! Now that iv'e had 45 beers tonight..and my cute little wifey is giving me the stink eye.... i dont know if i can do this project. It sounds good in theory. But the time, money and work involved is freakin huge! It's on the brain backburner for now.

For fuk sakes...... Can you imagine a life where you can spend your time experimenting with stuff like this?
