Strain Names = Marketing tool.............. to get growers intrested intheir varieties.

Yeah, but it's been that way since the very early 70's.. That's when it went from this herb we smoked that came in two varieties, "mex" and "tops"... to the mystical and mysterious varities "

Colombian, Mashamacan (sic), Jamacian, Hawaiian, Black African Ganga, Rainbow, Lambs Breath, even the legendary but never seen, White NYC Sewer Weed:).

At the same time I do like being able to pick what I want to smoke and the names help me remember which strain, does what... ie, the cut of Trainwreck we have and the Mr. Nice, we just lost...

Hey Mr Grimbo, M. Emery was hyping ISS as Vancouver's "best of the best" back in 2004/05, said it was the perfect party weed, social/upbeat/happy, and it reminded him of summertime.

It's very enjoyable and probably the most fuzzy of all of our buds strains. Grows short and squat with huge fan leaves. The buds are thick with resin and it has a very rich robust taste. Some folks like it right away, some take a while... It's not the strongest pot but I guess I can't argue with ME's description. I love the taste and it's a great medicinal we often mix with Wheelchair for pain relief after a workout. Again, I can't say enough about the taste and bag appeal...

I totally agree.
I just grew a crop of Critical+ = Skunk#1 x BigBud.
It stinks out a whole room with that old school skunk smell that really brings the "real heads" back, way back, to the early 80's.
Just this morning I had a nug on me in a med vial and opened it up for 3 seconds then closed it while in my pocket.
The puertoricans that were near me mentioned that the smell was like that old-school skunk they remembered and havent smelled that in along time. I then left the lobby promptly before the security gaurds started sniffing down the source. LOL.
Its not the most potent, but sure is enjoyable to smoke. Those subtle nuences in the effect of her makes me feel like a teenager again.
I myself am looking to expand on a collection of Skunk genetics. I want the older versions. Im sure they are hard to come by these days.

Now that's exactly what I'm looking for at the minute. Can you recommend a breeder that can deliver that. I'm trying seedsman skunk 1 now and hoping to find a keeper.

I dunno, man. I'm sticking with the older genetics. I like White Widow, AK47, Chronic, Bubblegum, Panama Red, Columbian Gold. There are enough keepers in that stack that I don't have to participate in the seed wars bullshit. You feelin' me?

The problem is, everyone has to be clever and make up their own BS names which does nothing but make things more confusing for most people. This is on top of the fact that people are crossing hybrids with hybrids....good lord, who knows WTF anything is in a few years, right?

Sure would be nice to have a International Cannabis Club: Like the AKC, register your Strain name and prove your genetics.
