Hello ic mag

This site was the inspiration to start my new hobby. So far money has been slowing me down. I have my veg room up and running with several strains. One of each: white rhino, the church, lemon skun (from green house) and critical 47 as well. For a test plant I started a seed 30 days ago. It's still alive and I've got 4 baby seedlings with it.

I am working out of a 2x4 grow tray. Using 48" Fluor bulbs, 6500k x3 and 2700k x1. I will be supplementing with LEDs once the babies look stronger.

Doing a top drip using using dyna grow recipe from this site.
Germ in paper towel, transfer to 1" Rockwool, then 6" net pot filled with viagrow expanded clay.

Tell me what u think I my setup. Remember my thumbs are still black!

Good luck and welcome

Since money is an issue before investing in an LED get yourself an HID instead. Much better end result and much lighter on the pocket

Looking good!
Best of luck with the grow! :)

Would you mind to tell me how you upload your pictures?
I want those small previews, like you got em. ;/
My growlog looks crap.

I did it from my iphone, it was confusing...

Why would HID be better than led? Cost is an issue until my tax return comes, then it won't be a problem to spend $1200-1500 on LEDs.

I haven't grown with hid or led, but from recent grow journals, LEDs appear to be better. Up to 2grams per watt in same cases. I don't know a lot about lights, but hid seems like a huge pain in the ass compared to LEDs.

I'm planning 2 150x3w led panels at 260watts actual draw each panel. They are 11 band lights, with 60 degree optics

I clicked upload photos and it showed my gallery, I then clicked each one, and hit back on the iPhone. It then had HTML tags linking the pictures, with a preview size... If I see it again ill save the HTML tag

So i was bored and wanted to see what happens if you cut the head off your plant, and tape it to the side of the pot...

That doesn't mean that it's better. Show me what to read if HID is better than LEDs...

Lots of people drive fords. Doesn't mean it's a better car than a chevy...

HIDs are cheaper, but can anyone show me some evidence it grows better?

Any links you can refer me to I'd appreciate. I want to do the reading, so ill know... But I can't find anything conclusive that HIDs can produce the same quality as LED...

Please help

Ahh thanks for the info there buddy! Thanks for the positive comments!! Ill take negative ones too if it helps me grow.

Suffered my first seedling causality today. The critical 47 Rockwool dried out and it's poor little baby stem couldn't support the first set of leaves coming it.

It could have been something else but my Rockwool cube was bone dry... I water it today, but I'm not counting on it coming back...

So much for avoiding overwatering...

Does anyone know what those little hair like things are on my baby seedlings? two pictures above show some strange looking growth, and today the seedlings look even stranger. the first set of leaves looks deformed on both lemon skunk and the church

almost looks like the vien of the leaf with all the plant matter burned away? any comments? the farther the first leaves fill in, the more it looks this way... looking for conversation on this forum, did i post this in the wrong area?

not sure if you posted in the wrong area or if people just dont care...looks like you are under/overwatering to me...not sure. invest in some CFLs and soil is what I'd say...hydro is a pain in the azzzz unless you have $$$$ for days....

2stone. Can is correct that you should learn with soil first. Much more forgiving medium for you. Go hydro after black thumb turns green. Haha. CFL's are cheap, don't make much heat and will veg just fine for you.

As for comparing hid to led there are plenty of threads debating it you fan read. Be sure to pay attention to growers doing it instead sales adds or newbs debating unproven theories. Trust me or not it's up to you, but get yourself an hid for flowering and spend your reading time learning about plants. For some reason the bigger grows and people making units of fire are using hid. So what does that tell you?
