nice job everyone! seems like every year is getting better. i like to see people suceed at this. getting kinda quiet on here lately. I know its the off season and holidays but doing the big outdoor gardens takes year round planning. anyone care to talk about yields per tree they got this year and quality compared to previous years and what strains are ur favorites ? This was my best season ever & grew the biggest tree i ever did. Here it is a 12 pound monster "twitter og" grown from seed. thats my right hand man standing next to it and hes not a small guy 6+ ft. It smells kinda like cheese which i thought was strange but the quality is there, coated, first to sell out after the bubba pheno twitter og which was over 8 lbs, pretty good for a bubba id say. so to anyone who thinks u cant get quality on a huge tree is sadly mistaken.. its all about the right gentics and optimal growing conditions that only organic methods can provide. i cant stress enpough how important genetics r, genetics, genetics. smart pot is 8 feet wide for reference and the top bud was over 11 ft from the top of smart pot putting it close to 13ft off the ground.

can you tell us more about the organic methods you use, that's one kick ass plant.

Thought I would put up some pic's over your off season again....Some MHZ crosses to Mullum Madness, Oaxacan amd Early MM. plus the MHz Mum.

The sprinkler system has a 5 metre spread of fine spay, which I can also add organics to folar feed.

The cages are 2.5 meters tall, with still 4-5 months of growing they should hep alot if we get late storms.

You can see a Hmong Thai in the right back corner, it is already at the 4metre mark and should finish late June......chainsaw job for sure

Very nice, Kanga. What are those very tall poles doing there?

Thanks guy's !!

Actually those poles are the sprinklers and they are 6m tall, to alow for the height of the plants and also to give a light soaking rain effect.
As I said I also have it hooked up to be able to foliar feed and I can change to soaker hoses on the ground when the plants are heading.

very cool idea to have the supports be sprayers. I wonder if you foliar heavy with
worm teas if you could prevent bugs and maybe help with mold too?

It seems like when people have a killer year their growlogs fall off the map come harvest time.
this year I'm thinking many people killed it so big that they are not bragging about it online.

I hope to own land somewhere where I can grow a few legal trees someday, I don't know
if it's worth it to go to Colorado yet, the towns there are/will outlawing growing as fast as they can locally.

Cali towns are restricting med grows everywhere.

I was hoping to have a better choices about the best place to move
to in the US to be able to grow after the election but I still don't
feel like there is a good choice to make yet.

.

towns, cities, and municipalities can vote to ban dispensaries and commercia lgrows under the medical marijuana law. they cannot ban your personal medical grow, including care givers. you can have up to 5 patients. so thats 36 plants total. you can also get increased plant counts from your Doc, and all your patients can have increased plant counts. under the med law your plants must be outta public site. ie greenhouse, indoors, out in the boonies.

under 64, the new legal mj law, you can grow your 6 plants outta public view, and locked down. your personal grow cannot be banned. if you wanna supply outlets and such, a commercial grow or store, they can be banned by the locals. also you can produce any amout from the 6 plants, there is no weight limit, but you can only leave the premises with 1oz.

so there are options, and ways to go big if thats what you need.

So for the "BIG" question. First greenhouse season done and learned alot about getting big plants. Soil amount and quality, sun (right kind of plastic for greenhouse not from home depot) and lastly the one I need help with..... Genetics. What do you use, why and what are you going to use this year?

for the outdoor im like anyone else, lookin for decent yielders with good sack appeal and decent smoke.

this upcommin season, ill be growing some cuts that did real well last season, Purple Hashplant, Nomads BlueDream, Strawberry Dog#6, OGJam, berry white and a few different BlackToothGrin cuts i kept from last year, which were are biggest producers.

have a few cuts from my own seedwork i want to see OD, so be a few of those as well. MuthaG, Little Killa, TopRock(name stolen from TomHill)

Blackouts will be filled with name cuts, Tahoe OG, Bombthreat Bubba, legend OG, sourKush, pre98 Bubba and such for that mid season slump. and im thinkin a few holes just for the Bombthreat, see how many cuts of it i can have ready.

oh yeah and a few El Perro Azul will make a showing. the V3 OG Jam work(X Legend) and im also doin a Backcross to the MuthaG. much like last year we will have a gag of those goin.

so really its mainly what i like to grow and toke, what does well here at 7200ft, and finishes fast, which determines what gets put out.

First tracks,

Some of these have 1/4" "hardware cloth" laid down first to keep critters from burrowing up into them, -T

I'll be creating my beds using these next spring:

http://www.thewonderpot.com/

They have a discontinued design for a 5' x 5' x 2' bag that, if not used with a raised bed form that would help it hold it's shape, spreads out to approximately 6' x 6' x 18". They do custom orders too.

They are flexible with their customers and have made these discontinued bags for me at no extra charge. The one I really like is the 500 gallon bag. It is 4' x 4' x 4'. You can roll the sides down to 18" and have a 5' x 5' x 18" container ready to rock in about 5 minutes. The sides being rolled down reinforce the strength of the outside wall.

wow... niceee ones... every outdoor grow we have done has resulted in all the buds getting mold by the end of sept, and by the time we cut it out...every day/two..there is nothing left... does not seem to matter sativa/indica... everything molds... hence no more outdoor grows

Get your pH higher and use some silica and this will end.

When you get your sap pH up to 6.4 you will not have fungal problems anymore. Read some stuff by Bruce Tainio.

It is the reason you see the outdoor guys recommending such high Ca levels. What you really want is base cation saturation of 68% Ca, 12% Mg, 5% K, less than 2% Na and 12% H. Get that and you do not have to worry about fungal attack at all. Insect pressure will be low to none also.

This is the real key to running plants for a long time. Anything will get you through 8-10 wks...skill is required when you are looking at a 1/2 yr plus

Fuck all the poisons and the stoner tricks...learn the Albrecht method and update that with Tainio.

Well anytime you introduce a monculture into a natural enviroment you will see an increase in stressors to the monocrop; also abuse of nitrogen weakens the plants.

we have tried raising the ph, have have also tried silica.. did not work... we are surrounded by H20, the air in sept is filled with moisture, it sits in the bud overnite, n unlike july/aug, the sun is coming out later n later, so the moisture sits in the bud..hence mold.. i will read up on albrecht/taino (thanks for the lead), n prob give it one more shot...
