Hey there PW. Would those phoenix units you've been having problems with be desiccants?
all true but if your room is sealed summers aren't so bad because the more the AC runs the less the dehumidifier runs or you can even put the dehumidifier on a timer and run it on the night cycle only
i bought a dual xt recently and impressed with it... constant stream of water coming from it... and i can duct it in and out.
I hear ya. Got to rework the entire vent system the next spot...got some serious limitations here where my first and most serious constraint is odor. Only way i know to be able to have a cop and dog at my front door without any chance of smell is to have a shit ton of negative air pressure along with proper fan/scrubber sizing...im pulling in air from every crack of the house. though medical, in a spot that begs for detection. Just cant take any chances. Not to mention some power constraints. Need to move again here soon...tell ya the story then ;-)

i would say if not ducted back into the room yes but i dont see it smelling to much if not at all if you duct it back in the room... im sure you can caulk the out ducts to the unit if you feel too much air/smell is escaping.... i been thinking of hanging mine lately...
thats what i am think, out and back in to keep the heat out of the room.
moving the unit out of the room is what I prefer to do
but noise might be an issue
so how noisy is yours poops?

Nice! thanx for the response VP. I wish I could find wholesaler for these. These arent cheap, in fact I think big dehueys are the most exspensive single item needed in a big op...
If you have Craigslist in your area...watch it regularly, I see them on their for 1/2 or less than new pricing regularly.

There was a used Santa fe compact that just went unsold on ebay yesterday. It was listed with a 650 starting bid.
You could probably send them an offer of 500 shipped through paypal so they save on ebay fees.

I f'd up and didn't find this thread before I rush purchased an dumb-Ideal Air 180pt dehuy, because my 70pt and 45pt soleus portables weren't keeping up with my 5k room (more so at night because my mini split isn't running all the time) and I run a sealed room.
Anyhow, the 180pt does NOT pull what they claim (maybe 100pts MAYBE), go figure, and my 70+45 outperform it, no joke. So I made a $1000 ERROR, however since I only used it once night, the guy a the hydro shop said he's going to try and shove it back to sunlight supply
and at minimum give me store credit, if not cash me out.
Anyhow, I'm needing to act quickly, as I'm entering into week 4 of flower with 26 monsters vegged for 8 weeks, all transplanted into 7, 10, and 15 sized smartpots, so I can only imagine its going to be more of a struggle as they swell. This is my first mono-crop, I've been rocking a delayed perpetual the last 2 years so I haven't had it wall to wall with full bloomed bitches yet.
Anyhow, I was going to step up and get a Phoenix, but after seeing Nerd's posts and pics, I'm leaning toward the Dual XT - however I only have 8 foot ceilings, YIKES I know, I need to move
For the mount, do they sell one made for this unit, or do you just use a standard AC unit condenser exterior mount? I could potentially mount it in a far corner, where even if it dropped down to 5'5'' level, It wouldn't be sticking in my canopy or in a main traffic area where I would constantly hit my head. Is it inefficient to run this unit just sitting on the ground? If I've got the floor space? It doesn't appear to have casters like the other Sante Fe's - or does it?
I'm wondering in the case of 8ft ceilings, if I should bend over all the way and pay 2600 for the phoenix 270HT, has anyone used that badboy? http://www.sylvane.com/phoenix-270-htx-dehumidifier.html

DB the 270 will be near overkill but in dewies that is a good thing
intake is on the top the exhaust is out the front and can be ducted with an optional accessory
you have to supply a line voltage controller like the greenair thc-1

For 200 a piece the 70 pint soleus airs from lowes are tough to beat if your trying to dehumidifie on a budget
Tough to justify over a grand more to save 5 amps 12 hours a day.
And always nice to conquer the humidity from multiple spots in a large or otherwise oddly shaped room

Thanks guys... and good point Norm, now that I did spend a grand on the 180pt, and see that the soleus air 45+70 do better, I wish I would have just got another 70, and I could, but now I think I'm in too deep lol, and the urge to get one of the mountable Santafe dualxt, or the phoenix big dog.
Oh and I've got a full enviormental controller, the Sentinal chhc-4 that'll handle the on/off of the dehuy up to 15amps, and a secondary CAP HUM-1 (for when I was running dualing dehuy's lol).
the ideal air managed to keep the night RH at about 52-53 each time I snuck in there, running alone, but it still about the same with the lights on, 5th week into flower, and the 70+45 combo run me closer to 45% with lights on.
I may just spend 1500 and get a santafe Classic, that moves around on casters, its rated at 110@ AHAM, and 220 @ saturation - with very low volts/watts etc, one of the more efficient pint/kwhr units I think. Grow nerd said it should handle a 4k'ish, and I plan on doing a site B 4k garden shortly, so if it'll be a good test for here, because I'm not spending 2k on a dehuy for site B, lol. 2 70pt's are like 1500watts!, I think the classic rated @ 110 would probably out perform them in real life... but time and $ shall tell, and I'll report back my findings as well, to help others.

Just I case anyone missed this!! I've got 2 of them that belong in a garbage can. Ideal air dehumidifiers are the biggest scam sunlight supply has ever pulled on growers. They are the cheapest Chinese crap that the buyers at ngw could find.
