the psychic toll of having a small army of scraggly-assed homo sapiens putting their filthy mitts all over my produce has gotten to be too goddamn much for me to bear even another minute.

i need a trim machine. it's got to be effective and not chew up y flowers too damn much. yes money is an issue, but i'll pony up for the right gadget.

was on the verge of springing for a twister, but i've been looking at a couple others now.

first is the lucky 7. it looks a little smaller than the twister, rolling thunder, triminator, etc. the vacuum is also a full horse smaller so it's supposed to be a good deal quieter than the others. it's a relatively new unit, so i haven't found anyone who's actually used one. have any of y'all? i like that it's made right here in socal and that it's $5000 cheaper than the twister. i haven't been able to find any videos of it actually trimming meds, but there's some info and videos at lucky7trimmer dot com.

second is the centurion. the main thing this one has going for it is that my local grow shop will hook it up for $8K out the door. that's a pretty sick number for one of these.

to those of you who employ mechanical trimmers, which are you using? how do you like it? of these tumbler types designs, is there really any appreciable difference between the different makes and models, or is it all just a big marketing ruse?

please no responses from filthy shills trying to hype up your own BS product. you all are usually so shameless in your plugs that the real cats out there can smell it all over you.

Im no filthy shill, just been using this machine since it hit the market, and i've never regretted using it.

I saw the lucky seven at a store recently in my area...id rather have a twister i think. (very similar design). I didnt like the lucky sevens workspace table top, it is rough raw wood on the model i saw, should be some smooth brushed metal or an acrylic or somehting smooth... imo.

i can put my own table next to the damn thing.
for $5000, i could probably get myself a few nice mission tables and chairs to match.
i'm really only concerned with how well the thing trims ganja and how much it costs.

cyclones mash buds.
fingers mash buds.
but cyclones and fingers won't mash buds?
i think it's safe to say you have a vested interest in selling this machine.

guess it's damn hard to get an impartial opinion anymore.
there's so much garbage floating around out there too.

.

I guarantee you i have no interest in selling these machines aside from helping gardeners get a product that helps them out at harvest time.....
I guess its my fault for sharing my experiences w the community, right? i guess if anyone has any good exp. w any product they should just keep quiet about it so that they dont seem like sales reps.
my fault.

Are those speakers on top of that thing?

yes those are speakers.
fiskars work fine, and i would suggest that 90% of growers use traditional hand trim methods.... machines are really only for big ops that can justify the costs of them.
that being said, fiskars work just great, and i suggest you get a few pairs just like friend pictured.
im prolly a fiskars rep on here trying to boost sales of trimming scissors!!! lol

—you've made 50 posts singing the praises of this machine as if it has somehow revolutionized the way people grow cannabis (which of course it has not).

—you've got the thread you started about it in your signature line.

—you lugged the fucking thing to the cannabis cup so you could show people how great it was.

— you explicitly say that you "got into this company on the ground floor."

and then you're going to try to say you aren't affiliated with this outfit?!?!

i'm a half a second away from calling you a liar.

ps. your herb looks like beesters.

50 posts out of 1200+. less than 5%, i've probably posted more about fighting PM or nutrient deficiencies... or in the beer cup challenge.

Let me also begin by pointing out that the thread I in my sig @ the sattrim was started after another user on ICmag (Tloft13) asked me to expand on my experiences w the machine. I put the link in my sig because i thought it was kinda cool to have someone ask me specifically. Seems like if i was trying to sell units that making a dedicated thread would have been a priority.

Im happy to have met these folks at the first kushcon in Denver; when they initially introduced the product to the public. 2+ years ago I was in the same situation you are in now, searching for a machine for trimming in order to use fewer trimmers less often. At that time the units were less $$ than they are now, i knew they would go up, so we got one asap for that operation, and that is what i meant by "got in on the ground floor"

The sattrim people bought a booth at the cup and lugged it there themselves, i was there competing w a dispensary that year, and dropped in on their booth for a few hours one day. All I lugged was a few jars and an oil rig.

Anyhow AG, I see my input is not welcome here in your discussion, so ill leave it alone in hopes that you get what you want and need from it. its your thread after all

hope that helps
peace

btw, im not even saying that the sattrim is the BEST out there, i've just given my exp. with it, and how i perceive it to be superior to other models i have used or seen in action. and truly im w everyone else that buds trimmed by hand are the sexiest. Its a size of grow and how many people u need to trim it question; where you reach a thresh hold where hand trimmin is no longer feasible and it makes sense to go mechanized. I've stated that over and over elsewhere.

I couldn't tell for sure if you were kidding about the speakers.
Not kidding: ~ Ipod / MP3 player - 1/8 in jack

i agree that i will stick with scissors.. but wen its either harvesting hundreds a pounds of bud a year.. and not havnig a trimming TEAM.. id rather use a machine for the stuff i get rid of.. and hand trimm my headstash.! .. but hey.. i guess u either gotta have a huge warehouse.. or .. a nice outdoor grow to use a machine like this.. for a couple pounds..
Take some Molly.. Put on the Tunes.. and chill and trim with the wifey till its done. then go about bangin until the molly wears off haha.

I've used the Satellite and I can say it's not better than scissors. That being said, it's a pretty good machine. It's not as loud as the twister, does a far better job than than the trim reaper or any of the trim pro offerings. I think they accomplished this by the concave grate and solid aluminum blade. The concave grate allows leaf to get down to the blade but not your product. The adjustment on the blade is pretty precise and the vortex action is controllable via a three stage rheostat which controls fan speed. You can also open air vents to manipulate the amount of air in the drum. The rotation speed of the "fingers" can also be controlled from way too fast to way too slow. It takes probably five or six hours to really get a feel for the machine and it's settings.

I also had the initial "how effin' corny" concerning the speakers mounted on top. Turned out to be a nice little addition...just sayin'

So, scissors or machine trim? I've been gardening for about 17 years now and I can't bear the thought of sitting down with three or four others for 8-12 hours a day for a week straight. Been there, done that. I also cringe at the thought of people I can't 100% vouch for possibly being a security concern.
For me it's an obvious choice. Machine and no sleepless nights.

The Satellite does a decent job and really doesn't molest your work as I've seen with the others. I think the product coming out of the sat looks about the same as something that was hand trimmed, put in a turkey bag and passed from you to two other folks. Most of us see our bud when it's pristine, immediately post trim and no bag rash. It sure as hell doesn't look like that a week out of your possession.
I would suggest, if you have a harvest that is too big for a couple of people and a couple of days....search craigslist for someone renting a machine, try it and draw your own conclusions. I have used several machines and would (at this time) use only the Sat or the twister.
Just my two cents and please, if you don't like 'em...don't spend 'em. I have no desire to argue with anyone:huggg:

Let me start by saying, I think trimming machines suck. I wish they did not beat up the bud so much. They need to invent a robot that looks like edward scissorhand and is good as a human. If anybody out there has trimmer that works like human let me know.

Spin pro for lower buds is pretty damn bad ass. I've used the twisters and all that.

Hey AG,
I just checked out the lucky 7 and it looks like they addressed some of my concerns with the twister...noise and not cutting close enough. I wonder if they'd let you fire it up before shipping your dough?

This is correct. Avinash mentioned somewhere that he choose the satelitte because it is easier than other machines on the buds. Got me interested because i hate trimming. Guerilla outdoor harvest is a pain in the ass as it is. Sitting in my cellar for weeks snip snip snipping makes it worse.

trim machines = drug abuse

Trimming= self-abuse

Have been harvesting for 2 years with the trim pro rotor- we love it and will be buying another to supplement harvests- just can't do the sit and trim for 3 weeks thing- life, kids, fun are better.
Pros-
Well made machine - no problems and have trimmed ALOT of bud through it for 2 years.
trim about a 1-1.5 an hour- 2 people, one bucking one feeding.
The design is cool- grate on a slant and port door opens so that buds fall out and machine keeps running. Speeds trim time.
Blade height is adjustable and is easy to adjust.
Parts are easily taken apart and replaced or cleanable-
Our cleaning process has evolved as MJ goo is tricky-
Leather fingers are soft- easier on nugs
4 times cheaper than satellite.
10 times cheaper than twister.
Cons-
Is the trim perfect? No. But it is very very nice, the buds don't get beat up much at all- one caveat - it works much better/ should only be used on fairly dense buds. Trimmed some sssdh through it - did not work.
Must be kept clean!!! The grate and blade must be thoroughly cleaned after every 2-3 lbs or quality of trim will decrease.

I have no affiliation with any companies- it just helps us get the work done in a reasonable amount of time, the end product is good to great, and in my opinion it has paid for itself 20 times over by now.
Good luck, happy harvests and pass one my way.
