do you know anyone that smokes weed and got ANY form of cancer?

I lost two close relatives to cancer despite having consuming cannabis, and know of several others. Smoking pot does not prevent or cure cancer, unfortunately.

nope... cancer does not discriminate. one of my buddies died last month (32 years old) from lung cancer(mesothylioma), hardcore weed smoker. Nickname was jimmy bonghit cause he would hammer down some huge bong hits. Sucks going to miss him.

and now my pops got diagnosed 2 months ago with colon cancer (stage 3 tumor). he liked to puff ganja once a day too. so yeah I highly doubt weed does anything to stop cancer from forming IMHO.

Yeah, my buddy is 55, been smoking herb since he was 12 or 13. Heavy toker. He was diagnosed with malignant melanoma last year. Had a big chunk of his shoulder removed, along with some lymph nodes and a skin graft. Poor bastard has been on Interferon, which screws with his blood forcing him to take Coumadin. He can go off the Coumadin once he finishes with the Interferon.

I'm a melanoma survivor. Missed my lymphs, fortunately.

Wait a minute here ! Of course ! If u eat bad food and don't run a healthy life and think that smoking joint that burn so hot, will cure U from any disease U might catch, then U is a IDIOT !

Some people eat at MC Donald, drink pepsi and coca cola and regular bases, have a lot of junk food, pizza, ice cream etc and they don't go exercise, plus they burn chem weeds in joint, i mean co'mon

Computers and Iphone gives cancer too... So if U are genetically weak and run this type of life then u might catch some bad disease.

U want to kill the cancer using cannabis ? then stop burning it in joint or bang or water pipe ! Use a volcano and some oil. This is how u kill the cancer with cannabis.

A joint of weed burn at more than 850 degrees Celsius ! That alone is not good for ur body ! It's away too damn hot.

My father smoked cannabis everyday for years and got cancer. It does not stop you for getting cancer. It would be great if it did. He made it though, I am very thankful.

Moonshine the Rare Dankness breeder had cancer and he was a heavy user.

I think thc or other chemicals in pot do give you a bit of protection but not a fail safe one. Heavy doses taken orally might stop cancer, have read that but not confirmed.

My father toked for decades. Was in perfect health or so we thought. He was sitting on the couch watching TV, and out of no where he has a stroke. They find in the hospital that the stroke was caused by a brain tumor ... cancerous. They gave him 6 months, he fought hard for 4 years before he passed. He was 41 years old when he died.

i've read a few articles that summarise studies that mention THC inhibits the growth of cancerous tumours, except their subjects are always defined as average tokers (i.e. one to three times a month)..

so i'm wondering if as frequent users we are "protected" in any way from cancers...

Please tell us if you know of someone who contracted a form of cancer and that person was a habitual marijuana smoker...

:thank you:

Here is the important thing reqarding your question...everybody is offering up "testimonial" evidence, i.e. people who they know personally that have been big smokers and got cancer. This kind of evidence is meaningless as far as discerning the effectiveness of cannabis to fight/prevent cancer from occurring.

The ONLY way to figure out if cannabis has cancer fighting properties is by studying LARGE numbers of people.

Nobody (in their right mind) would ever say that cannabis ALWAYS defeats cancer. Nothing is that perfect. There are so many variables involved when you look at individual cancer situations. But, when you study the results of large numbers the data starts to have meaning. The larger the numbers of people in the study, the more reliable the results. Just like the polls that are taken during political contests...they all have a particular margin of error, based on the size of the sample.

So, asking us here at IC Mag whether we know of anybody doesn't tell you anything...except the emotional pain that the posters have suffered when they see a friend get cancer and fight it.

There have been quite a few studies, older and newer, which point to evidence that suggests cannabis fights cancer. Of course whenever you smoke ANYTHING it presents problems for your body. So smoking cannabis wouldn't be the best way to consume it to fight cancer. But that doesn't mean that smoking cannabis doesn't have any positive effect at all...and that study that was referenced earlier illustrates this nicely...it showed that the people who only smoked cannabis had a lesser rate of cancer than people who had never smoked anything.

I been grooving almost 50 years now and just last year had skin cancer removed from my arm in several places. Basal cell carcinoma is what was removed.

Me too 5 years ago. I'm pretty sure it was genetic predisposition though. I'm very light skinned and it was a big mole/birthmark they cut off and tested. After it tested positive then they cut off a huge chunk all around it. Turns out that particular form of skin cancer has a 99% cure rate. But weed had nothing to do with it at all I don't think. Only helped alleviate some of the pain after the surgery maybe.

Does smoking chem laced herb have anything to do with the individuals that had cancer while smoking pot? I would believe that IF pot helps kill cancerous cells, THEN adding all the chem ferts will counter act this. Does organic bud have better cancer fighting effects? Or at least doesn't add risk of cancer due to the extra chemicals?

Cannabinoids boost your body's immune system, and they can inhibit the growth of cancerous cells. You can absolutely kill cancers with cannabinoids. (although smoking it changes many of the compounds and in terms of flooding your system with cannabinoids, it's very ineffective, that's why people eat pheonix tears instead of combusting)

My father was a daily herb smoker for most of his life and he died from melanoma. Other than that he was rarely sick. He drank a bit too but I never considered it to be excessive. I don't think MJ protects but also don't think it contributes significantly either.

Exactly. Smoking anything is bad for you. The best way to consume Cannabis is to ingest it in Its purest organic form which at the moment is through extraction methods. Basically Eat some hash that's from buds that were grown organically and wasn't sprayed with pesticides. LOL good luck finding that. It's out there but hard to come by nowadays.
