I have a 2x2 cab. And i would like to do a sea of green but im not sure whats the best way to go as soil, hydro could i do a dwc with a 5gal with 2" or 3" nets sog and and just use one bin?'' or do i have to flush or would i be better off just using 2 liters with soil. Im looking to at least get 7Gs every week. .. Im just tryn to get the most out of my box.... Thanks

One of my all time favorite grow setups was when I first started...and I used a 2 x 2 x 6.5 box...

In this I found I could run 9 plants using "rose buckets". They are 1.7g square containers and using them filled the space perfectly...

I used a 400w HPS and grew in organic soil....straight single colas. I'd transplant rooted clones and veg under 24hr light for a week and then flip. This would yield me anywhere from 6-90z on average depending on what strain I ran. I ended up running a Herijuana pheno for 3 years in this setup - and would always pull 7.5-8 per cycle...

I used a 4in can-fan that drew air thru the hood and exhausted through a carbon filter. Used 3 dark room louvers, one on each side and the back wall, centered at two foot high for a passive intake to increase air flow around the canopy...

That is still to this day one of my very favorite setups as it was simple, easy to control and maintain - and the results were remarkably consistent...

When I first started in that space I used a homemade aeroponic system using 6" PVC tubing - 6 plants - and I just never cared much for the finished product, versus the results I was getting from organic soil...

Hope this helps...

I flip my pie at 3 in and lst the fuck outa them dont give those bitchs an inch or just like a dirty hoe the will take a foot..im not in a box but my grow area is 23 x 23 x and from bottom of soil to tip of glass is 23 in as wwell. Ill check in a minute to see what kinda light ur using but 2³ feet isnt much... Id say ur best bet would be autos and two 55 watt cfls from wally world.. Check my getto set up album in my pro and see how i moded my old bat wing in to a mom/ veg light ...get creative but ur most likely gona have to up ur hight of that box to get 7 gbos a week... Sorry ive taken my meds if im not makin any sence...

Plants were around 3 ft tall - but only kept about the top 12-14 in of the plants after stretch for flowers...the lower parts I'd strip bare. A 400w simply doesn't have that much penetration. These were single colas / lollipop style - each cola giving around 21-25g.

I have no clue how you'd manage plants in only 2ft of ceiling space...

When I had 6.5 ft - from the top down, I had the reflector and it's hangars taking up the first 14" ... the rose buckets sit 9" tall - so the starting point was 9" from the floor, technically. That's 2.5 ft with just the basics being in place. Left me just enough room for 3ft plants.

Some of the micro growers just flat out baffle me - I can't imagine or wrap my head around how little space is expected to produce a harvest - but folks manage and make it work - more power to you!!! :respect:

Here are a few options I used growing in a cabinet. However my cabinet was about twice the height you have, but about 18 in width. The cabinet had about 200 watts of CFL lights in there (all were 23-26 watt bulbs). The first two pics are in 1 gallon pots that were topped but not trained. If you wanted to use 1 gallon pots you would need to do some serious training for your plants. You really only have about 1 foot of usable growing space after you get lights and pots in there, and this will limit how large your plants can get. So heavy training will likely be possible. The next pic is showing what became my favorite method of growing in that cabinet, 1 liter soda bottles that became pots. But those tended to be larger plants than you have space for. However the picture gives an idea of how you could space plants in your growing area. Each of those plants yielded around 7 grams a piece, that was with OG's, and Chem strains, not the largest yielders. The last two pictures are of a 16 oz. cup competition plant. This may be the most reasonable way for you to grow in your space. The height of the cup is about 4 inches or so giving you some extra height to grow the plants. This little plant was flipped only a few days after rooting the clone and transplanting into the cup. Ultimately I pulled 4 grams off of her, but it was fantastic bud as it was grown organically in soil. If you did a sea of green in your space with 16 oz. cups and pulled 4 grams per plant you could get your 7 gram per week goal.

If you did choose to go the route of SOG with 16 oz. cups for pots you can also do it in a perpetual style. My thoughts would be to do four rows of four cups each. You would start with a single row of four cups in there and each week or two add another row of four cups. This would mean you are harvesting every week or two, and if each plant produced 4 grams you would harvest 16 grams every time you chopped. However this method would require a veg space or a consistent source of clones to use. In your cabinet I would suggest mounting your light in a stationary position, unlike my hanging light unit.

I hope this helps you wrap your mind around the task at hand. If you have any questions please feel free to ask, I will answer to the best of my ability.

yeah man, i started out as a micro-grower and i ran a high-density micro-SOG in a small cabinet that had a footprint of 30 inchs by 18 inchs, if memory serves me, ...at full capacity i had 55x 1liter SmartWater bottle 'pots' and i pulled 10 every 2 weeks.

this is the outside.

...and the inside (originally i ran this cab with 2x 150watt HPS in a DIY cooltube). ...note that i have more vertical space than you do in your cab.
picture.php

...i'm only showing you this so you'll know i have some cabinet growin experience AND a few years of SOG growing as well so i'm not just talking out my ass when i say you should follow dank frank's advice and grow fewer plants.

keep in mind to that 'perpetual' and 'SOG' are almost the same thing so, for example, i myself now only harvest once every 8 - 10 weeks, strain depending, but i always have another set of plants (i flower 11 at a time now) vegging elsewhere so i start a new cycle on the same day as i end an old cycle, ...so my flower op runs perpetually but i don't have to mess with 55 plants now, lol.

...something else you might want to consider is SCROGing, either horizontally or vertically, either way SCROGing is probably one of the best ways to maximize such a small space.

here's a link to one of FreezerBoy's old threads and i post it because his space might be pretty close to yours and he does some pretty amazing shit in that hollowed out old freezer of his, lol.

...and here's a link to one of Marlo's threads where he is doing some pretty cool stuff in a very narrow space under some stairs i think, lol, ...anyway, he does the vertical SCROG thing and his work is always on the money.

...and finally, here is a link to one of Anti's threads from a few years ago so you can see what can be done by a dedicated stoner with an abiding desire and limited space, he is still growing in small spaces but he has evolved way beyond this little CFL cab.
