Chasing my tail in coco

S

I moved and since have been stumped with a problem. I am in coco. pH ranges from 5.2 - 5.8. 600-700 ppm every few days. This is happening to me in veg and in flower leaves are taco-ing, plant isn't fattening up. Poor root growth. I feel like I am chasing my tail as I can't nail it down. Is this nutrient burn? Potassium toxicity/deficiency? Calcium deficiency? Is this pH induced, transpiration (lack of/too much)? I have even thought it to be something in my tap like chloramine. This problem is fairly recent. Growth is slow, stems are woody/purple. Tips point down, edges are burnt, leaning up. Figured it could be high pH from alkalinity. Alkalinity is 45 ppm in tap, Some from flower then veg

Try ph 5.6-6.3, and feed everyday@700pp.. I think you would have better mag uptake if your ph was a little higher. many people have success feeding low ppms more often. Don't feed plain water in coco unless you nerd to flush, it can screw up the cat ion exchange

strange how it all differs', never once ph coco in 4 years no troubles' was why i used coco, strange
grow weed easy .com. first one i looked at looked a bit similar ? boron deficiencies?.

Anyone else? I feed at 5.2-5.5 ppm to try and work with my alkalinity as it makes the pH creep.

pH of 6.2 ALL THE WAY THROUGH the grow gives best results, the roots settle into a constant growth pattern they maintain until they're finished

Calmag is vital, I'm in the UK and have been using Plant Magic Magne Cal on the last run of clones and the difference is noticeable

So you're saying this is a Ca or Mg problem? Caused by K or pH?

Well, is it Ca or Mg. I can't see how consistently feeding @ 5.2 or 5.5 pH in coco would cause what I am seeing.

I'm no expert in coco but I ran into similar issues in my current coco grow that I'm doing now. 5.2 to 5.5 is to low from what I have read. 5.8 is choice but a swing of 5.7 to 6.5 is what I run. I did a flush with light nutes and have been adding 2 mg's of cal/mag per feeding and the brown spots stopped and the light green leaves darkened up.

sounds like salt buildup flush your medium with ph water and check the e c coming out the bottom...

I will say I have tried running 5.8 and I get the same thing. Only thing different between before when I was going good and now is a new place with different tap. Alkalinity here is 45 ppm and Na(sodium) @ 30ppm. This should not cause problems. I water with good run off and feed light(ish).

I appreciate all advice but I need an explanation as to why watering with pH 5.2-5.5 in coco would be too low. Consistency is key and more important than pH. My nute mix creeps upwards towards 6 pH after 24 hours. I also use KSil in my mix. If anything I have been leaning towards my pH being too high in the root zone.

I have flushed and ppm was not excessively high. To me a big part of this is poor roots. I can't figure out why. I almost don't want to look at the plant leaves because the story has to start below the media surface. Something is out of whack there and like I stated, watering @ 5.8 resulted in those flowering pictures which appear to be identical problem.

Why can't I edit posts to add more information? Too low of post count? I can also say I am hung up with potassium being a large clue.

Most of the coco specific nutes i've used in recent years stabilise themselves to PH 6. Looks like you've got that there lockout. How big is the plant/s compared to pot also?

5.8-6.2 is ideal range in coco from what I found, and have always needed a little extra cal/mag with whatever nutes I have used. It looks like a cal/mag deficiency to me. Ideal range for cal/mag uptake is around 6.1 if I remember right off the top of my head, letting the ph swing through the above range lets the plant uptake everything efficiently in their ideal range. Good luck, if the problem stops progressing you know it's fixed, the affected leaves will never get better though.
