Death star, Grapefruit x Blueberry Scrog 250w armoire grow

Thought I'd give you guys a bit of a tour of my garden. I'm running 3 Chimera grapefruit x Blueberry, and 3 death stars in roots organic soiless coco w/ blumats. Also got a Hashberry male going that I plan to cross with the death star, hopefully add a bit of potency to the hb, or chill the DS out a bit. This is my first time crossing so we'll see what happens. Also first time growing scrog, hopefully it works out, enjoying it so far.

One of the death stars is in 30% roots organic soil and 70% coco, with a half cup of fox farm happy frog rose food feeding only organic nutes, everything else is getting GH 6:9. By no means a perfect side by side, but I'm curious to see how it effects taste and growth rate etc. All are in 1 gallon smart pots. All plants get molases and kelp every 10 days or so.

A little bit about the armoire, my fan and ballast are under the main grow cab, pulls air from my reflector to the carbon filter. I'm using a Panasonic whisper line, SUPER quiet, I can't recommend that fan enough for those trying to keep it stealth. Ducting (most of it) is insulated to keep wind noise to a min. Computer fan extracts warm air from bottom cab to outside. Cab is incredibly silent, I've had guests over that never noticed it.

Its tough to see whats going on, but I figued I'd post it anyway, hopefully I'll post better pics than this in the future, will have to wait till lights out next update. That was a mouthful, now to the pics!

Day 10 flowering.

Bottom cab

Death star 1, not as lush as the others

The organic death star. She's been more growing faster, greener and bigger than the 6:9. Starts at the fron of the image, those two tops in the back are the end.

Sweet tooth A, untopped, her leaves are HUGE, dinosaur leaves

She has this dew that appears on her every now and then, I'm really not sure what it is, maybe some pest?

Grapefruit x blueberry C, basically the three tops you see. She's topped.

Grapefruit x blueberry B, at the end of the cab against the wall. Also topped, grows just like C.

Just realized I didn't post the organic death star, second try:

dstar doesn't eat heavy, probably why organic one's doing better!

looking good man! check out the defoliation technique might help you out. the dew you're seeing is from overlapping leaves probably.

Day 22

Day 22

Thanks for stopping by medmaker!

Sounds like its about time for an update. on Day 22 of flower. Only issue I have is what I believe are thrips. Little tiny worm like larvae in the medium and some tiny black flies that jump around and are tough to catch. Applying neem oil and soap, hopefully get them out of my room soon.

The GFxBB A has a candied grapefruit smell, GFxBB B (all the way to the left, got mixed up) has the best smell out of the three. Smells exactly like fresh grapefruit. Like sticking your nose in a ripe grapefruit. Pheno C, the giant leaf pheno smells pungent, fuel like, and grapefruit. Has that effervescent smell/feel to it. I really can't get enough of the smell of all three GFxBB. Very excited to give them a try. Trichomes are starting to pop up, some large fan leaves are getting trichomes, and I love making some bubble!

The Death star is coming along fine, the synthetic fert DSs have caught up to the organic one in color and size. I imagine they start beating out the organic one (in the very back) soon. I'll be feeding the organic one regularly starting tomorrow, its gotten a few shots of Roots organic hpk 0-5-4. From here on out will get 4ml biothrive grow 4-3-3, 7 ml hpk 0-5-4 and cal mag as needed. I'm basically trying to keep the same #s as 6:9, I might be totally wrong on my assumption on that but we will see. All plants get Kelp and Molasses.

Alright enough typing to the pictures

GFxBB A

GFxBB B

GFxBB C, I ad to cut off a couple of the monster fan leaves to let light through

Organic DS, all the way to the back. I'll try and snap clearer pics next time.

Death star bud shots

Death star bud shots

I should have an update in the next few days, and should have better pictures now that I have my SLR situated. In the meantime here are some dried shots of death star from the last grow.

Popping some maple leaf indica, kali mist, and Hawaiian sativa x swt3 tonight to get ready for the next run!
This is probably going to be my last run with her. Way too strong for my liking. I will be crossing her with some Hashberry pollen tonight.

Day 29

Day 29

Alright so I got my camera setup a bit better, hard to take group photos with the lights off. Its too bad I can't take these plants out of the room for shots, would make life easier.

Anyway, we are at day 29 here. The organic death star is showing a little bit of nute burn, nothing I'm too worried about. I figured I had fungus gnats, finally got rid of them all with some mosquito dunks. Will probably pollenate the death star tomorrow with some hashberry pollen.

GFxBBa, large leaf, sour berry smell pheno. not topped

GFxBBb Ripe fresh grapefruit smelling pheno. Seems like a low yielder.

GFxBBc Topped more of a candied grapefruit smell. Very sweet

Day 36

Day 36

Time for another update, my insomnia = good time to update. Didn't take as much care in these pictures hopefully I wont be as lazy next time. Really can't wait for this harvest, starting to run dry for the first time in years. Well except a lot of death star which is not my style.

Starting to see some interesting colors across the board. Slight burns that I don't think I need to be too concerned about, one more kool bloom feed and then its pretty light on the nutes anyway. The tips of the GFxBB calyxes are turning a bit purple, night temps are starting to get pretty cool. Plus the last BB cross (blue sat 2.2) turned a really nice purple really late in flower without cool temps.

Having multiple small problems with the organic death star, nothing I'm too worried about right now, but she's looking the worst so far in terms of burn/deficiency. Biggest negative to pre-mix nutes for me is that it makes it difficult to figure out whats going on. Looks like N burn and cal/mag def to me. I almost always get these issues right around mid flower when I run organic. I know this isn't the best way to run organics (with bottled organic nutes). Couple of more tries I'm sure I'll get it down, its just more difficult, imo, to be organic in 1 gallon pots. Could be ph issues, I strongly believe ph does matter even in organic growing when it comes to 1 gallon pots, there just isn't enough of a buffer late in the grow. I'm sure with 7 gallon pots ph is less of an issue.

My tap water is pretty stubborn with floating back to 7-7.4 no matter what ph down I use, using gh ph down ph still floats back up. Very annoying. Will be cutting out nitrogen after today.

To the pictures

GFxBB C tops

GFxBB group. A is way in the back (single cola), C the 2 up front, and the top left if one of the tops to B

snooze, when you say your tap water is floating back up are you referring to straight tap water that you ph down? or is this tap water that is mixed with nutrients and then ph'd down?

usually with tap water and 6/9 i don't even have to add ph down cuz it brings down the ph to around 6. i never really had problems with it drifting since gh flora is ph buffered. i only had issues with drifting when i recirculated. its odd that you are getting drifting with dtw.

when i ph straight tap water to around 6, i would see drifting in the rez if you used organic ph down like from earth juice or lemon. i've always found gh ph down to be a bit weak/diluted. advanced ph down is super concentrated. best bang for your buck in my opinion but the problem is if you are mixing a small rez you have to be real careful cuz a 1 ml can bring 5 gallons of ph 7 to like 3 in an instant.

what line of organic nutes are you using?

everything is looking dank nonetheless. how long do you plan on flowering for?

Logs looking good man. Whats the genotype behind the Deathstar and what company is that from? The GFxBB is looking real nice and the resin production is there to back it up most def. looking forward to the log.

Tao, even my tap water with gh bloom and micro floats back up. I've calibrated my pen, and replaced the electrode so I'm fairly certain the readings are accurate. If I use distilled water I have no issues with ph drifting, but my tap water is stubborn. I don't think its a huge deal, obviously we all want close to perfect conditions as possible.

The organic nutes...well they are a bit of mix and match, I mixed a cup (or half cup) or FF rose food in 70% coco 30% soil. Liquid nutes are GO Grow(4-3-3) 7ml, and roots organic HPK(0-5-4) 4ml. Trying to get to the same #'s as 6:9. Will be switching to only roots organic hpk next week to cut the N out and will be at 9ml. Also supplement with GO cal-mag and they all get molasses and kelp.

I'm thinking the GFxBB will go to 55-60 days. I cut the deathstar last grow at 77 days, thinking I will cut at like 70-72 days this time.

NE, the death star is a clone only cut that a buddy of mine gifted me. It's Sensi star x ECSD. It's really one of the most potent strains I've ever smoked.

I took a sample smoke of the GFxBB. Pheno A, the pungent smelling blueberryish pheno has a nice body numbing, slap a smile on your face feel good stone. On the stonier indica side. Pheno B, the fresh fruit smelling pheno had a long lasting feel good, happy, and talkative high. Neither seemed to induce and anxiety. I'll give a more in depth smoke report when its done.

Thanks for the responses! Will update again on Tuesday.

Day 46 Flower

Day 46 Flower

Alright my slr was MIA this week, will take some better shots next week. These buds got nice and chunky after their last kool bloom feeding on day 36. Getting some cool foxtails and coloring. Nitrogen has been cut out for the past 10 days, and they are really showing some nice colors now. Started flushing the GFxBB today. Thinking I might have gotten them a little too deficient too early, but that's ok, I'd rather have better flavor. I know I had the same issue last grow and ended up feeding late in the game and got some buds that tasted not so good. Coco really shows you any changes you made right away. The organic (70% coco, 30% soil) death star hasn't shown any coloring yet, just cal/mag def.

Pollination worked out ok, I see some seeds popping out of some calyxes. Hopefully they don't get overly seeded. First attempt at pollen chucking, pretty exciting.
