Cleaning up in the shower

Hey everyone and welcome to my new thread. Made some changes to my space and will probably no longer be running blumats or 600W so I figured a new thread was appropriate.

I'll try to be brief. Going to start with a few pics from the beginning of original thread as I like to see the progression of things.

Here is the shower I started with shortly after tearing out the fixture.

Things running:

Added 200W x 2 level PL-L veg/mother tent:

Results:

Yielded approx. 15 oz of 600W. Time for changes....

I decided to move the scrubber above the shower. This meant enclosing the area in poly to create an "intake chamber".

This was the worst part, laying on my back stapling this shit up:

Exhaust is now as follows:
Basement air > veg tent > 4" duct > 100 CFM S&P fan > 6" duct > flower chamber > "intake chamber" > scrubber > basement

pictures is the 4" hookup and 8" exhaust

6" active intake into flower chamber. Also pictured is the opening to the "intake chamber"

Lastly, a shot of my new workspace. Built the bench, added a new utility sink, RO filter, 18 gal RO res w/ float valve.

quick update

quick update

Electric work completed. Went from a 60amp fuse box to 200amp panel. Tomorrow I will grab a 20amp breaker and run a dedicated circuit to this space.

I planned on transplanting tonight but I'm hobbled by a migraine. Medicating with dabs of Candy BHO. I did get around to at least plugging in the 600W ballast and moving the plants into the space so they can start adjusting to the higher wattage.

Need to find a clean way to mount the light with the ability to quick and easily add/remove a second. Hopefully wandering the hardware store tomorrow will spark an idea. I'm pissed the mogul kit I bought has a 90 degree connector on the cord instead of a straight one.

So I wanted to flip on the 1st but since I will just be transplanting tomorrow I will wait until at least Sunday. I should probably wait longer but the plants are already bordering on too large. I meant to grab a pic of the screens I built but forgot, should have one up tomorrow with everything in place.

Irrigation supplies should be here tomorrow, just need to figure out how to hook up my pond pump to 1/2" PVC and the rest should be plug and play.

back with more tomorrow

Great results there MrAwder!

Love the idea of converting a shower space into a grow room. Can't wait to see more.

Another brief update. As usual I did not get as much accomplished last night as I had hoped. Bought some steel wire to mount the light(s) like I have seen most do on here. One thing I also picked up was tiny caribiners so I am hoping I can make it easy to pull the light(s) out to get in and work/train.

I got all 8 transplanted and watered in. The screens look like they will work out nicely, however my measurements were a bit off so I think I will end up using 7 screens and have the plant that is front of the door staked. Or make an extra skinny screen for it.

Temps are sitting around 83F with my fan at 70%. The problem is the veg chamber is sitting around 80F and that's where I am pulling air from (to scrub it). I might need to make some adjustments in that setup if I want to add another 600W.

Picked up an intermatic t-103 and started wiring it. My circuit will be a 4 outlet box -> timer -> 2 outlet box. So I will have 2 outlets controlled by the timer. So I got the boxes mounted and the first 2 outlets wired and pretty much ran out of steam. Plan on getting it finished up tonight. Irrigation supplies arrived and should be setup tomorrow. Sunday is flip and then smooth sailing. :joint:

Dope ! Why have you stopped using the blumats?

I only had 5 sensors on hand and needed 8. I figured I could drop $80 on a patio kit or $80 on trying something new. Being in a shower makes it easy for me to run to waste so I thought I'd try it out. Any problems and I will go right back to blumats.

the electric is done. 20 amp circuit with a few plugs for fans and then the intermatic timer and 1 600W for now.

started work on the res plumbing today. all dry fit for now, will get glued after I watch some football. 1/2" PVC inlet to a nice bulkhead, 1" out hooked up with a grommet. Getting the grommet fit and the pipe in was insanely frustrating.

Here is where it will hook into the main res. 1/2" tubing from pump to barbed end. 1/2" inline valve to control flow. 1" overflow back into res, need to add a union and extend it.

Day 1

Day 1

Day 1 of Flower
Drip system is complete. Had trouble getting equal output at all sites to start, but once I flushed the lines it seemed okay. Right now it is set to water for 1 min twice a day. Just going to play it by ear and check it often until I find a sweet spot. The resolution on these timers only goes to 1 min increments with up to 8 on/off events.

Here is the output from the upper res. Put a ball valve on it cause I had one and it seemed like it would come in handy. It already has.

So that runs into the shower from the ceiling via some 1/2" rubber tubing. Hooks up to the timer mounted like so:

The timer then hooks up to 1/2" .620 drip tube via a 3/4" hose-thread to pressure fit adapter. The pressure fit stuff is pretty damn nice and reasonably priced. Made the final manifold creation and hookup a snap.

Overhead view.

8 equal lengths of 1/4" line from the 1/2" circular manifold. Right now I am just 1/4" T-fittings as emitters I also have 2 different kinds of drip emitter I can try if problems arise. One type is "pressure compensating" but I do not think this will be necessary with a constant pressure gravity fed system. On the opposite side of the 1/2" manifold I put another T with a flush fitting on it. Can unscrew the cap and flush the entire line.

One more shot of the back wall.

Along with all of that I got the first round of training done. Flattened all of them out as much as possible. Cleaned up the bottoms up to the start of the screen. It will take a few rounds to get a feel for training like this I think but I like the process so far. Was able to pull out the front 3 and sit on a milk crate to work on the rest.

Alright I think that is it for now. Doing another drip system tomorrow for the veg tent. Might also be tearing out a well pump which is taking up space for a planned third tent (thinking experimental lighting and long flowering landrace sativas - head stash tent).

Day 8

Day 8

Been about a week so I figured I would do a quick update. This is my least favorite stage... everything is built and set, now it's just waiting :watchplant: Not even any pretty flowers to look at yet.

Here is the usual top-down shot.

Back center close up (White Rhino)

Back left of center (Super Lemon Haze)

So pretty much just been strapping them back to the screens. Working out very nicely. Only concern right now it what happens if the screen gets too full horizontally before vertically. I'm not removing anything yet as I will wait until the end of stretch and maybe fold the tips back into the center to fill any gaps. I still also have some room to play with the angle I at which I position the laterals.

I added a third 1 minute feeding since a few pots felt a little light. If I notice more runoff than I want accumulating then I will dial it back to 2 feedings every day, 3 every other. Right now I am feeding at lights off, 6 hours into dark cycle, and at lights on.

I installed a copy of the watering system for my veg plants only with a single 10 gal elevated res. Also using the drip emitters I bought instead of just open T's. The emitters really reduce the flow so I have it set for 2 - 5 minute waterings a day. Has been keeping 5" square pots perfectly moist.

that's about it. time to kick back and watch the grass grow
