The Clones

OK, ok, I know they look like shit. My personal mandate is to show it all, good or bad. The pro mix clones are turning the corner but the jury is still out on several of them. The gel cups aren't showing any roots yet, but the upper foliage is still looking healthy(ish) so I'm hopeful still. The BHs seem a little more finicky than the HSDs but even they are perking up a bit. I hope I can preserve all the phenos because I'll be muttering to myself about it for the rest of the season otherwise.

I'm in it for the long haul. Can't wait to see them finish. Wish seeds where available. I'm very impressed so far. Thank you.

killer: thanks dude, heh, heh big green ones and little yellow ones. But don't worry, I'll nurse those little yellow ones into bigger plants than the donors.

Must've been smoking too much Hawaiian Snow, I missed your post mitsu, he,heh To answer your question though, I have it but haven't used it. I'm not even sure what it's for. I know it has Nitrogen so in flower, I think the PBP provides enough of that. If you know what it's for, I'd be interested to know.

Right now I'm debating on using a bloom booster (some granular stuff left over from my hydro ferts). I'll probably wait a week or two before applying it, if at all. I may just try it on a couple of plants to see how they take it. For now though, it's just 10ml/gal Bloom every watering and nothing else. I have another product as well that was recommended with the PBP, CalMag but I've never used it. I figure if it ain't broke don't fix it.

Hey have you started the Blockheads yet?? :smoke out:

Blockheads abound, eh? :shucks:

Smilley, I've been following along from the giddyup, but I forgot - you're growing in dirt, no?

My gut is to go organic all the way (no synthetic bloom boosters), . But I'm a man of relatively limited reference and exposure, and what I know is what I know.

I'll tell you what, maybe I've been following along incorrectly this whole time, but those f*ckers seem to have some stretch!

Can't wait to see how they turn out.. :respect:

Hey Silver, ya I'm leaning toward the all-organic route as well but I'll probably try the synthetic booster on one plant just to see. I've always grown in Pro-Mix and up until last year it was always 3 part hydro feed. I found it very touchy and a pain to mix. This PBP is really user friendly and I need that. :)

Here's a pic of my Baja Warrior that mrs smilley and I ride when we go to the foothills..................

200cc's?

I don't even ride those things, and that sounds like just enough power to have sort of have some fun.

;)

smilley, I'm with you, in re: the hydro nutes. I know some dudes are bangin' it out like that, but my experience just has me much more comfortable with an organic mix.. Both in philosophy and simplicity..

..though I'm sure those same hydro-killer guys have their deal down to simplicity for shore..

:shucks: Comfort. It's comfortable. :dunno:

At my age, 200 cc's is just enough power to put me in harms way, much like the hydro nutes in pro-mix.

LK is a growth simulator. Your plants will grow fine without it. Looks like there's enough Cal & Mag in the grow and bloom formula that you don't need any more. If you do, you have the CalMag on hand. I like using LK,I used to use it with Pure Blend Original Compost Tea. Good stuff, mostly kelp seaweed extract,w/ humic acid and Yucca. Kelp has tons of goodies for the plants. I'm going to use it with the PBPro...mitsu

So, do you use it in veg and flower? Maybe I should try it on a plant or 2 and see if it makes a difference.

You can use it from start till flush. I like to use it in veg the most. Small doses every watering...mitsu

The Clones

The Clones

Day V19

13 out of 16 clones are rooted in the pro-mix. The other 3 are dead and I lost 1 Blockhead pheno. So, not a total disaster but still a poor effort. Anyway, full speed ahead, I've got plenty of plants for the next crop and about 40 days to fatten them up before flower. Now I have to decide which plants for the next crop.

The gel cup clones still aren't rooting. I'll be repotting the pro-mix clones in a couple of days, so I'm gonna go ahead and dip these clones in rooting hormone and pot them up as well. I have the missing Blockhead pheno in 1 of the cups so I'm keeping my fingers crossed that these clones will root as well. Anyway, the gel cup experiment is a failure so next time I'll go back to the pro-mix with a dome.

I'm mulling over what to do for the next crop. I've done the math and I've only got 2 more crops, then the seasons over. These 12 week strains are the limit for me. I was hoping I'd find a good 8 week Blockhead and breed it t the HSD. Gingerale says the BH goes 11 - 12 weeks so it probably won't yield a fast finisher from the cross. Primobud harvested his first HSD at 74 days, and I'm certain the harvest window is centered around 70 - 80 days. Anyway, I'm digessing (too much Hawaiian Snow & rum). The point is I've got to pick the next crop without sampling the donors so it's just a guess which females are the best.

I'll probably choose a 50/50 mix of the 2 strains. Last year I ran 10 plant crops in 2 gal pots and yieled about 400g per crop. That was with the Hawaiian Snow and the HSD are every bit as stretchy. So you end up with some of the tops 18 inches or more above the base of the lamp. I'm thinking if I drop the plant count and potted the plants in my 5 gal pails I could top and train to control height. All of the HSDs stopped stretching at 4 weeks or less which is a full week shorter than the HS. Hopefully the lower plant count would be offset by the larger pot size and extra room. I think I can fit 8 5 gal pails around the 600hps so maybe 4 BH and 4 HSD, maybe only 3 HSDs with trellises. I'm just thinkin out loud to help me make an objective decision. I'll look over the room tomorrow when I go in for a photo session and try and see how well 7 -8 5 gak pails would fit.
