I did hear back then that the original skunk was a hybrid from Jamaican Red Beard but I don't know how true that is. I do remember the first 'skunk' to hit around here - South Midlands & it wasn't sweet, it had an acrid, almost ammonia smell to it. It kicked arse for sure!

Shit yes. Once saw a load being mixed up in an old skip. Wood shavings, MDF dust and even engine oil went into the worst of that rubbish. It was all about the money.

Definitely true. There was a time when a lot of hash had a diesel 'tinge' to it. Best way to kill good hash - expose it to diesel. I think that's why it died off as a means of smuggling, nobody wanted it in the end.
