I am like a previous poster I grew ghost peppers and now I don't know what the hell to do with them. These things are just stupid hot, I mean there is no logical food use for these things as far I have found. They look almost evil with their bumpy gloss red skin. Any suggestions for using these things will be welcomed.

Once again, I offer up the "give them to your fellow IC magazine people" option. I'd be happy to take them off your hands, I'll even kick you back a bottle of hot sauce after it's made. :)

That's the exact reason I got a dehidrator. Some can be dried on a line, some don't. I guess it depends on the thickness of the skin. Buy one and you'll find other uses for it too! :2cents:

finally we are getting milder temps here in south spain, and the chilis have gone into massive fruiting mode. looks like im in for a enormous harvest season. even the rocotos have started to pop out pods all over! :D

:)

So Ive got a about ten ghost peppers strung together and hanging in the sunny window. I hope they will dry properly, Ive had problems in the past with mold and rot taking over before the pepper was fully dried. I smoked some for ten hours at 250 and I made little charcoal briquettes out of them. I guess next time I will use a lower temperature. These things are so hot it isn't funny, I gave one to a co-worker and he ruined a 12 person family dinner by adding one pepper to a platter of sausages and peppers.

I am giggling my ass off just thinking about people trying to eat that stuff. Imagine not wanting to insult your host but wanting to blow flames out your moth at the same time. I cant type Im laughing so hard over here.

My Butch Trinadad Scorps are just starting to change from green to red. I dried one and crumbled a 1/4 of it into powder and sprinkled it over 3 slices of pizza, after burning the hell out of my lips and tounge it burned in my stomach all night long, and in the morning it burnt something else,I'll spare you the details.:moon:

Been hitting 40's-50's here at night, and just now seeing Ghosts... They are about the size of a chickpea now.. Will there be time for them to mature?

for those that want to use their hot peppers, if you can cut the pepper up with out touching the ribs or seeds you can use the rest of the flesh no problem. My Manzanos were to hot to eat raw but if i cut the wall of the pepper on a slicer(think its call a mandolin) Then i could eat the pepper slices raw no problem. but if i even nicked the internal ribs or seed were all the capsaicin is stored, that was it - FIRE!

i hope everybody is having a plentyfull harvest season :)

Nope. My worst growing season ever, only my Puriras and my Thai Dragons did ok, the rest did nothing. If anybody has extra peppers I'd be happy to take them off your hands.

i have bitten off the tip of one of my trin scop's...just the tiny-tip..n my mouth is on fire... i can't imagine slicing it and eating a piece...

i have been pickin em, slicing em in half, layin on a cookie sheet, n puttin em on the bbq at the lowest temp, with the hood slightly open...it keeps the temp around 115/120- just takes a long time for em to dry... about 6hrs..sometimes longer.. then grind em, put it in a glass jar with the word 'hot' on top.. haven't found a use for it yet...toooo hot.....

Zach, I did the same thing, with the same results.
This is my first year growing peppers. I haven't read this whole thread and I don't want to ruin my harvest by not drying them correctly. I don't have a dehydrator so I'm trying the fishing line method, but might try Zachs method of slow drying in the oven.
Heres a few pics of the harvest so far, got about double this to harvest yet.
