Anyone grow a strain that didn't need a cure?

Anyone grow a strain that tasted and smelled great with minimal effort? Basically right off the branch it seems to maintain its smell and flavor? The cure of course would enhance this but hopefully you catch my drift.

Thanks.

The last OG I grew tasted amazing before the flush and right off the plant with a couple of days hanging dry. I smoked all of it before it should have ever been jarred! I wish I could puff nothing but that herb for the rest of my life. I have no clue what strain it was. I tried to pick up 12 Sour D's and ended up with 2 OG's that finished a week earlier and had 100x the resin!!!

Wow! So its true, thats pretty crazy. I think this is a trait breeders should definitely be looking for. Please keep the strain names coming if you have had this happen. Thanks for responses so far.

i don't really consider a plant a keeper unless it passes that test. Any hay smell during the dry, the plant is usually not gonna get run again.

777. 7 days at 70 degrees and 70% humidity. I'm usually at a little lower than 70% humidity, and speeds the dry up a little. Where I'm at, I can't risk having shit around curing, if you catch my drift.

When Soma won his Cup he states(on his website, I believe) that he hang drys the whole plant for 9+ days, trims dry, jars overnight before the Cup, and it is ready in the morning.

Oh, my keepers Include SD ibl, Chemdog ibl, OG kush, Cheese and Strawberry Diesel.

peace!

Im not gunna lie, pretty much everything i harvested in organic soil has impeccable taste right after hang drying. I can't wait for things to cure as the smell just intensifies, but so far: *818 Pure OGK, right off the hang dry she reminds me why she is my favorite of all. It gives ECSD a run for the money in taste in my opinion. Super complex OG lemon rocket fuel nail polish smell, with a perfect og translation to taste.Smoking some now and the taste just lingers, KKSC after the dry she has gain a more creamy hazy aroma to her, still with a super sweet sour gooey strawberry/cherry pop tart filling aroma. Right now she is smoking more hazy and definitely needs a cure to pull out that strawberry to flavor transition. GSC, Indiana Original Bubblegum, and an old colorado afghani Orange Kush (OMG does she wreak like a super fruity bubba with orange peel and squeezed sticky orange tang.) smell translates to taste. I just jarred the first of what finished hang drying yesterday, and I am impressed how much everything has retained great smell and taste without so much as a cure. So far the only thing that hasn't peeked much in smell is the Beisel (Pre 98 Bubba x ECSD), she looks like a bubba, but smokes like a diesel in flavor already, slightly more chocolatey, but with a Pre98 bubba high. Can't wait to see how the smell and taste evolve in the curing process.

Honestly I think the two most important things for smell and taste: Genetics and Organic Soil with Molasses waterings every water. Its incredible the aromas and tastes you can experience.

I liked it, almost better then after a short cure, a heavy kush cable taste with a little extra dank. The whole curing process was also derived from making hash, drying for storage, shipping, and ripening thc right?

yes, as well as getting rid of any residual chlorophyll and even out the moisture levels between stems and bud.

Lemon Skunk from Greenhouse. All phenos wreaked and tasted great right off the stem. Shitty fucking yield though, otherwise I'd be growing it still.

Also DNA Genetics Chocolope. Absolute winner in every way def get it if you can.

Bubba tastes just like it smells and awesome with no cure whatsoever.

Curing time can be associated with flowering time i think, i mean less flowering tima you have done less curing tima you have to do.
Apart few exceptions strains under 70 are the stuff i think, hashplants and kush n co...

Grapefruit from female seeds, once dried ( 10 days ), they tasted of well grapefruit. Cured just intensified that grapefruit flavour. High was great and everything is just inhanced, great for humour too. Oh yeah just gone off topic.

i crossed herijuana (motarebel) back into extrema ( heri/chemdawg). it smokes like heri, tastes like extrema ( awesome).

needs no cure. it's the only strain i have that i don't feel needs cure time.

i find potency on my landraces can dramatically improve in potency with curing. i just recently got aware of this aspect of landraces which is supported by many landrace growers.

i now smoke every strain right after drying, 6 weeks, 3 months and 6 months cure time.

It has nothing to do with the variety of the plant, it is all about how it was grown. However a cure will only improve the flavor as you will be smoking less chlorophyll and water. This is what the dry and cure are for. If you grow a strain without over fertilizing it and flush well you will have a product that will be ready to smoke off the plant. However, it will always have a bit of a hayish taste until the degradation of chlorophyll and evaporation of water hits a proper equilibrium. Again, plant variety has nothing to do with it.

not in my experience.
i grew many strains at one point, all the same method, only some strains could b smoked (enjoyably) before having a proper cure

not to say growing techniques dont factor in, just that certain strains will have more flavor and less harsh before curing

If you're in a hurry, try doing a fake cure.

Instead of following your normal harvest procedure, buck your large fan leaves, then cut the whole plant and leave it hanging upside down. You want to place it in a relatively sealed space, I made a large frame out of wood and covered it in panda film, add a fan on a timer at one end of the cabinet, a few vent holes at the opposite end, now run your fan on and off, I usually like a 2/1 on/off ratio, and in a few days when your plants are dry, you'll be able to snip them off the branches straight into the jar and they'll smell as if they've already had a bit of jar time.

Warning: This method is for Low Humidity Areas, attempting this in a moist climate might result in mold, you'll need a dehumidifier if this is the case.

I'll second that.
