Good Day fellow smokers. I need some quick answers from you gu, going to the Candy Store
Question 1

How big of a carbon filter]. Do I need for a 12*12*9 space, the filter will be connected to a 6" Vortex right off the bat, Vortext pulling old air through the filter then through 2 600 w HPS (obviously air côoled,and sealed.) Then through the out take(out of the room). **Right before the ducting laves the room I'll have a 6" _Max Fan pulling air through the duct.,

Do I need a couple duct fans in between or are two fans overkill??

But the main question is the carbon filter

can 100 will suit you fine. i have a can 150 in about the same space. 3 years strong and still work awesome.

For my 9'x15'x8' room and 4-600 watt bare bulbs I use the 8" C.A.P Valulines (one intake one exhaust both speed controlled) and a Phresh Filter/Phresh pre-filter w/exhaust. Phillthy's right, can't go wrong w/Cans or Rhino filters either.

nothing but cans in my rooms.. they have been making filters longer then anyone.. I would go with the 150 myself but I like over kill. You never know when you will run into super stinky

Right Hammerhead, I'm also looking at the Can 150 and Max-Filter myself for down the road replacement. I do like the Phresh filter, it's lighter and does the job but would like a bigger filter too, running mine at nearly 950 cfm capacity. I want to get more air exchange. Seems Can's discontinued their bigger filters over 1,250 cfm exhaust. Phresh aslo has 1 1,400 cfm but w/a 10" flange, but I could just taper that to 8".

I've run can filters for years now, but my newest isn't a can and I don't remember the name but its lighter then the can(s). I think my oldest can is about 4 years old and it is only now in need of being replaced.

wouldnt you need a 10 in fan with that big of a filter the 1400 cfm phresh sine the 8in fan only has a 750cfm rating??? i'm about to buy a new fan and 2 new filter's a 10 in can max fan and the 10 in 1400 phresh filter and a 8 in phresh filter for my 8in can max fan i have always used pro filter's but i love the light weight of the phresh filter's and imop the bigger the better and my 6in pro filter's weigh the same as a 10in presh filter so i'm gonna go with phresh or maybe mtn air but the coast way more.

Your right Prodigygrower, don't want to waste money on too big a filter for the fan. I'm also looking into the 12" C.A.P Valuline fans (1,060 cfm). If you undersize the fan for the filter then it'll have to work less and last longer. I don't want to undersize my fan too much as I want at least 1x air exchange evry 2-3 minutes. You also have to take in other factors: Ventilation Explained Part 1 - Ventilating your growing area Look at steps 2 & 3.

12*12*9 = 1296 Cubic Feet Total
Vortex 6" = 452CFM
6" Max Fan = 334CFM on speed 3

452 + 334 = 786 total CFM

I like PROfilter's mainly because they are made by the same company as the vortex fan's. It came as a package deal, but both products seem pretty bullet proof after 2+ years of operation. Phresh and Rhino are next on my list to try.

It sounds like you are going to need a reducer or 2 if you are going with 1 big filter on a 6" fan.

are you tying to use 1 pipe to remove the air from the room & hoods? If so, you should understand that the fans will be restricted with a filter. IMO hoods and scrubbers should have separate ducting. If I am misunderstanding, I apologize, it just doesn't seem like enough air movement.

I've tried Phresh, Phat and CAN's and CAN's win all day. The Phresh and Phat filters are easy to move but just don't do as good a job as the CAN's for as long.

Hoods and scrubbers on separate ducting, exactly. I think BudMan has the 6" Vortex on the filter and 6" Max Fan for the air cooled lights. Bud's room is about the same size as mine and I like at least 8" fans for the plants and lights. After going from 1,200 to 2,400 watts I think I'd like 2 12" fans myself. Can always dial them down some and run quieter and last longer.

Also 2 fans in same duct (one pulling the other pushing at inlet) running at 750 cfm won't give you 1,500 cfm. They'll run at same speed but each should do so with about half the effort. My room is bare bulb so I luckily don't have to deal with the cumbersome reflectors and ductwork. I just put both fans near the intake/outtake.

hiya,, can scrubbers all the way,,,have mine on a 10inch sorin acoustic and a 250 can,,both filter and fan are extreamly heavy, for ops grow,i would go with an 8in or 10in,my fan exhausts 2,500m3,, hourly when running on full power,,,would rather have too much power then not enough,just make sure to buy a fan controller or thermostat so you can control the fans power,,good luck,,peace and safe growing s2

well, I have to go phresh for the fact that moving very heavy things in grow rooms is a no no for me ( potentially for plant breakage.. ) yes they don't last as long

My "dealer" has been growing for 20 years and he uses MountainAir filters.

It comes with a 3 years warranty.

I have a can 50 on a 6" elicent 150B inline for ehxaust.
room is about 8x8x8 with 2 1000w lamps.
stunk like hell in there and the entire place and next door LOL.

put the exhaust on 24/7 pulling off the can 50 with lamps in between and end of probs!
standing outside next to the exhaust you could get a faint smell of something when it fired up. but it didn't smell anything like the devil weed

I'm heard these filters can be washed out with a bit of dish soap and warm water, let in the sun to dry and reused. Guess it's worth a try.

Mountain Air looks good, guess it's either that or Can when I want to upsize to 12". Phresh seems to have people who love them and people who hate them. Haven't tried others but they work for me. Mountain Air is more $ than the Can and both are more than the Phresh. Can now has the Can-Lite which is lighter and uses better carbon, supposed to compete w/Phresh. They say you get what you pay for, but not always the case.
