Water curing Q's

I would think water curing is an alternative to regular room temp curing just like decarbing can be. I wouldn't use any heat source to quick dry though after it's water cured. Not sure if that would degrade it though, depends on how much heat and for how long.

From my limited understanding of water curing I assume after the 10 day water cure it is okay to quick dry since all the stuff that makes the smoke harsh (chlorophyll & turpins) is leached out during the curing process. Is this correct? Please someone who has actually done this any advise is appreciated.

No, it is absolutely *not* correct. Water curing leaves you with an inferior product. I did it once because the lady in question was blown off my upper balcony to the ground 30' below, then tossed in the dirt some more. I didn't realize I could just wash her off to get all that crap off, so I water-cured the bud. It. Was. AWFUL.

It does nothing to the chlorophyll in the tissues, and does nothing resembling a good cure accomplished in optimal conditions.

Don't do it. Just say no.

Btw, it's terpenes, not turpins. Gotta spell it correctly to get the best hits.

What's your goal here? There's a reason you started this thread.

Rumor has it that a quick dry is not only ok but is necessary to prevent mold. That same rumor says that a food dehydrator works well for this. :)

I've water cured quite a few times. Bottom line is yes, it works. It gives a very smooth smoke with basically no taste or smell. It's main advantage IMHO is for stealth smoking, for example if you're in public or around people that don't smoke. Disadvantage is that you lose the taste and smell, which I love. Buds also look like hell.

Water curing works through osmosis. You change your water daily so each day the buds get cleaner. Buds will be clean in a week--no need to go longer.

I read a blog awhile back where the person checked the ppm of the water each day before changing it and each day it was exactly half of the day before. It was a cool documentation of osmosis working exactly like it should. Wish I could find that again.

Food dehydrator on coolest setting works well. I've also let them air dry on my dehydrator trays, maybe have a fan nearby to keep air moving. Either way doesn't take long. Buds are ready to smoke when dry.

Just do a small amount and see what you think. You can always do more later.

If you don't want smell you could also try tinctures (like say with glycerin is popular). People do that for public toking and/or just use a good portable vape. Thanks John, here's a good link: WISDOM WEDNESDAY: WATER CURING YOUR WEED It says it actually increases potency as it weighs less with the same amount of THC as THC isn't water soluble.

Been smoking to much? You sound a bit paranoid... :tiphat:
What? It was a simple question, no need for you to become an asshole about it.
Why I consider this a viable option doesn't really have any affect on if it works or not does it? I'm not growing huge amounts of dope to sell to the neighborhood high schoolers so the lose in weight doesn't matter. That said it would be nice to have have the few grams of refer in my pocket NOT stink up the entire room while or in general not reeking of pot in situations when it would be a bad idea to do so. Oh yeah and the smooth smoke is a plus.
Again, no need to be an asshole. Water curing produces a shitty product, period. Go for it.
Please, I must ask for the douchebaggery to stop here. It's a pretty simple question why try to force me one way or the other?
Done. No more tolerating your douchebaggery from me.

Hello all,

I have done water curing. I thought the product was just as potent as the regular dried and cured buds. Also, I found in my buds it smoked much smoother and had a snow white ash. Just a loss of smell and taste with the added benifit of stealth.

I found the method to have its benifits. With that said, my smoking compadres had objections because of the lack of smell and taste.

For me, I can do both as its the ultimate ends of consuming buds is most important (IE the high and medical effect).

Try doing part of your buds as WC and check it out.

As to quick drying the product after water cure is ok just don't bake it or subject the product to extreme heat.

I have done this too, and I'm going to agree that it makes your bud a lot worse. I think 10 days would be too long usually 2 or 3 is plenty for smoothness ime. I disagree about it being odorless/stealthy. It just smells like you are smoking shitty weed.

I've water cured a few times... superb weed and average weed.

Only pure R/O water was used, every time. Dry time was well under 24hrs each time. Various soak times were tested, fresh water changed every day. Truly nasty cannabis resulted... every time.

Coming from someone who has ultra-sensitive taste buds.... this is a disgusting thing to do to your cannabis. Wow.

Stay Safe! :blowbubbles:

Tried it, once, never again. If you were making canna butter, it may well be something worth doing, I can't say, I haven't made butter, but if you are going to smoke it, do yourself a favour, and dont do it. It seems everyone has their own way of doing it, mine was to change the water twice a day, until the water being thrown away stops having colour to it, and the stench of the water stops making you feel ill. It took about 10 days for me. The key though is to use warm water, not cold, or you're gonna lose alot of trichs.
