Working for Someone vs. Being Self-Employed

Oh, Jesus, then you and I would get along GREAT. I get to the point, believe you me. Tact has been one of the more difficult aspects of communication for me, it's taken a lot of practice (a qualified metric shit-ton, which I've concluded weighs 3,300lbs, or what will fit into a Bagster).

I know what you mean about employees, too. And then one day you find one that's like gold, and you pray that they stay with you. The gal I'm working with right now, we're a good fit, even if we don't agree on everything, I'm flexible enough to be able to listen to her suggestions and many times she's right. Other times I just prefer my way. So far so good!

i have one employee, and pay straight commission, sell real estate, currently i like it because sales are picking up, folks are spending money again, taking out credit, etc...blowing up another bubble...slowly but surely.

when the next one hits i'm going to be ready...lol

i work for myself. i only worked for others for a while and mostly just for health care. got my own health care now . i dont plan on ever working for someone else. dont have too.when you work for yourself if you work harder you can make more cash. not always so at a job working for others. been there done that.if i need help i go pick up a mexican. they work hard and dont complain . i pay them well and i like mexicans

Having an online business is great.

I make good money and barely work.

The hardest part was to learn how to create secure websites.

One advantage to working for someone else is more of a "guaranteed" income. .

I was a contractor who worked for myself for 12 years.(This above) was the biggest issue for me.In a specialty field, the best of the best and most skilled are the ones who always have work.

Often for the rest its sometimes ,feast or famine.I almost lost all my shit ,working as a contractor who couln't get enough work through my employer.

Where as now ,it sure is nice making close to what i did before .But not having to deal with the original headaches of being self employed,,,Remember "its better to make less money for longer continuously" than to make more, or great money "but run out of work"

I've been with my current employer for over 13 years. I've worked in "high tech" for 28 years for companies big and small and this "gig" is about the best. It affords us a comfortable lifestyle with a nice home and acreage in a rural setting, a commute of only 2 miles ( I don't even hit one single stoplight on the way to work), a 401K that is pretty much unheard of (for every dollar I contribute, my company throws in 2 dollars), and every employee I have I've hired (I've fired more than my fair share too as I demand top performance...if not...you're out). My employer knows of our involvement in the MMJ issues with the state and county and has even gone to bat to protect my 1st Amendment rights when a particular county official tried to get me fired for being harshly critical of him.

My income allows for Seamaiden to pursue her efforts without any pressure. That's not too bad IMHO so I don't mind working for this particular someone.

i've been self-employed for 32 of the last 42 years. i'm not a good employee (it turns out). And i'm not a particularly good boss (i recently found out - still smarting from that turn). i don't know how to motivate/mentor someone, so if they're not self-motivated, it's not a good fit. so it's just me and the gf doing the do.

self employed all the way... fuck making money for someone else when I can make it for myself... the first two years were tough, but the last two ive been pretty high on the hog... id have saved a ton too... if it werent for my gfs lavish spending habits.. lol,
fuck it i cant take it with me when i die... and in my proffesion I prob dont have to worry about old age..
oh also... fuck OSHA. if i wanna do something sketchy.. whos buisness is it but my own? its my life right?

but that being said.. i dont have an education, and i have a family to support, so self employment is really my only option. i cant make enough to survive working for someone else... not at 10 to 12 per hour.. not even working 80 hrs a week.
so for me, self employment is really the only way...
also, ive had great bosses and horrible ones... but either way, theyre still ur boss. i thoroughly enjoy answering only to myself... (and my customer i suppose) but even they can only push me so far before i give them all their money back and walk off..

any buisness nowadays should have a website

I get so pissed when I want to get take out somewhere and the restaurant doesn't have a website.

It's fucking 2012, any business that doesn't have a website is operating in the stone age.

Love your quote from Alan Watts in your sig: "Load the universe into a cannon....point it at the brain......Fire!" as well as your 45/78 vinyl adapter. :D Always liked Zen since my teens, much better than religion. I had my own quote after reading Abbie Hoffman: "Revolution your mind and you revolution the universe".

My schizophrenic illness prevents me to work for someone, after a long and hard battle with myself I cannot interact well with people who work in the system. The brain pain that I would need to endure pretending in the role of worker/underling in my country would not give me sufficient money for basic life expenses food, bills and rents.

I wasted 18 years of my life on general education and learned only that you need to constantly lick someones ass and you will always be under person placed above you on political or genetic connection. Corruption is situation this moment in my country. Knowledge, progress and imagination are traits that worker absolutely must not have. The most paid jobs are those where you need to pretend to work, I cannot cope with that.I

If I would be a bad person with my insight and sense of probability precision I would rule in marketing and propaganda aspects. Fortunately that sickens me.

I started my own business with farming still no income from the work I do every day, but I have a plan and I will make profit in future as my own personal satisfaction.
