Near Death Experiences...

I was on my way to school an I was running late.On the way to school is a via duct(you could either go over or under it).I always go under . Half way under there are 4 sets of train tracks. As I get to the tracks there is a slow moving traingoing east . Once I see the end of that train,I pick up my bike I'm riding an start to walk by as the end of the train passed by. THEN as I start to cross the next set of tracks I hear a horn blasting , It's a west bound Amtrak 20-30 yards away coming very fast. I was already in the middle of the tracks. I just didnt break my stride forward an made it across. As soon as I was off the tracks, all I felt was the wind an vibration of the train on my back.A split second judgement to turn around would have certainly killed me.

Damn... those are some mean stories.

IN high school when I was sick as a dog I went to a Bball team dinner, cause you know how it is with sports, show up or get shown up next time your on the court. You could only call in dead. Well the dinner was only a few miles from home, so my mom let me drive, alone. Got there no problem, but on the way back I was not so lucky.

Driving say 35mph on a dirt country road. Was going along fine and kinda in that flu fog of not really feeling very acutely. The turn was sloped in the wrong direction and downhill with some bad wash board leading into it. I didn't try to slow down until I was on the wash board and I never slowed down at all. The car hit the harmonics of the ruts and kinda bumped along while at the same time entering a sideways spin. By the time I hit the sharpest part of the corner the car was diving hard into the front right tire and looking backwards (left hand turn). I snapped off a 6" thick fresh wood fence post like a twig. The car hit like it was a ping pong ball and rolled over 2 1/2 times... the whole time I was gripping the wheel and the smell of twisted metal and broken glass filled my mind and body.

I had the ultra slow motion experience, where I could have read a book in those 4 seconds. I had my seatbelt on or I would be dead now. Each time the car hit on the roof I smelled the dirt in the cow pasture and the roof of the car smashed down closer to my head. While this was happening I thought to myself, so this is how you die, and this is what it feels like, I guess Ill never have to worry about finishing school or growing up.

By the time the car stopped the roof was so smashed down that not only couldn't I crawl out the front windsheild which was missing, bit the front windows were crushed down to about 6 inches of clearance. I had so much adrenaline I crawled out the bark of the car in about 6 seconds and wandered up the road before thinking bout serious injury. A teamate pulled up and the look on his face when he saw the car made me feel very very lucky to be alive. I knew it was bad, but he was kinda scared looking, and was looked like he had seen something very profound. I was in total shock, and I always force everybody who rides in my car to wear a seatbelt.

ps. you fuckers haven't survived "more gun fire fight the you can remember" lol, thats total bullshit. what does that mean like twice. Im not saying it didn't happen but thats something strange to bullshit about.

I've almost drowned a few times, once while kayaking river rapids and a couple of times while swimming in big surf, getting bashed around, held down but managed to somehow make it back to the shore totally and utterly exhausted. There's nothing quite like the sheer, freak out, long drawn out panic that almost drowning induces.

I died and was resuscitated on the operating table once but have no recollection of that.

Been bitten by a Taipan (reputedly the world's deadliest snake) at Cape tribulation, Queensland....but it wasn't a full grown one and it didn't get enough venom into me

Had a big Bowie knife about to skewer me in the back while sitting at a bar just outside Clarke air base in the P.I.

Almost peacefully gave up and faded away several times during asthma attacks when I was a kid, I remember several times fighting with all my might and really struggling to breathe for hours, it was like trying to breathe through a straw that was gradually becoming smaller and smaller, then getting weaker, panicking with fright and trying to fight it, then becoming peaceful with what was happening and letting go, fading away.....those were weird experiences.

..and as most of us have had, there's been more than several close shaves in cars and on bikes while pushing it too hard...one thing is for sure, shit happens when you least expect it! and that's understatement when it comes to wheels! one minute you are cruising along then bang, ultra shit happens in a split second.

One time that stands out was when a mate and I were driving across the state after work on a Friday night to a party, we were smoking joints and drinking beers for several hours, took a short cut, got semi-lost, but were heading generally in the right direction, but were getting late. Well, the later we became and the more phucked we got, the faster we drove (as you do). My mate was driving at the time and we were on a two lane country road, I was joint roller and navigator with the map on my lap full of bud ..I remember saying " the main highway has to be just up ahead.." and looked up..and it was.....before we could realize what happened, we had flew across a 4 lane interstate busy with semi's and cars at about 100 mph, I looked out of the side window and I don't know how we didn't get t-boned by a Kenworth, ....being young and off our heads we both turned and looked at each other and burst out laughing uncontrollably, hooting and hollering like maniacs..there ain't nothing in the world that makes you feel really quite alive like being young, an inch away from being minced meat and getting away with it....

I, like many of us, don't know how I made it to 25...I'm middle aged now and shudder at the thought of some of the close shaves I've survived.

Another time there was group of us water skiing on a big, deep cold lake late in the season.....it was late in the day, the sun was going down, it was getting cold too and my best mate wanted to try and ski for the first time, so we got him in the water and tried 3 or 4 times but he couldn't get up, so we called it a day. The circled around to him, he took off his buoyancy vest, handed to someone in the boat so he could be easier to get in and then had one arm on the side of the boat to hold himself there while caught his breath, we were about to help him back into the boat and ...and well, something else got the attention of us all the boat, I think another boat waved to us and yelled out something, so we looked away for just 5 or 10 seconds, waved at the chicks, yelled out "Party at our camp tonight" or whatever, I looked back and he wasn't there. I looked over the side and he was about 8 or 10 feet down sinking slowly...he looked as if he was totally at peace with his arms reaching up and the most relaxed look on his face. With fatigue, a few bottles of beer in him and the cold water he must of passed out. Two of us drove in right away and pulled him up and he snapped to it once he was in the boat, oddly he hadn't swallowed any water, so didn't cough and splutter when he "woke" up..the funny part is that he didn't believe us at all that he was sinking down and thought we were bullshitting him.

One time I was driving home from work, I'd had few joints after work, but not more than usual, but I was weary, the drive home was about 50 miles and about 45 minutes long on suburban, then country roads, I drove the route every day for several years...this one time it was wet, foggy in parts and there was usually little or no traffic on the road, I knew every bit of the road and so drove fast & hard but safe and not right on the edge...well, I went into this beautiful, fast left hander at about 70 or 80 mph and a hit a thickish bank of fog at the same time and as I drove around the bend there were at least a dozen race horses that had escaped from a farm and were on the road and on the side of road just standing there like statues.......I was going so fast, the road was so wet, I was already halfway around this long sweeper that I couldn't do anything but hold the line with frozen hands and hope I missed them and I did thank goodness!............the weird part was I remember the look on the faces of a couple of the horses as I whizzed by, they looked as stunned and shocked as I felt...I was so close to a couple of them that my side mirrors almost touched them.

Every time I think I've finished this post, I have to edit it and keep adding more and more close shaves as I remember them...damn it, I better give up now while I'm ahead! loil

edit : here's another one.....I was a baby at crawling stage, didn't finish my lunch, so Mom gave it to the dogs, 3 German Short haired Pointers, these were strictly gun dogs, not pets....I then decided I was hungry and crawled out back, down the porch steps and out back to where they were eating. Naturally, I was attacked as I tried to get back my meat and they ripped into me, my face and arms got it worse, my mother walked out into the backyard and was horrified to see her son a lifeless lump on the ground covered in blood....needless to say, Dad had to give away his hunting dog. I don't have any memory of that attack, but it's been told to me so many times that it now feels like a memory. Now when people talk about their first ever memory, usually something like their mother's kiss or their father tossing them in air and catching or something like that, I tell them my first memory was being mauled near to death by a pack dogs..lol....and I love dogs, always have and have zero fear of them, even crazy-assed junk yard dogs in attack mode.

thats it i forgot a load of stuff but you just reminded me chamba..

ive nearly drowned quite a few times lol,,, one time i was at an indoor/outdo water park and after going down a very slow moving slide you drop off a little waterfall into a small pool, i did so, after my 20th time round the same one, and almost immediatly after hitting the water a "guy" (more like a walrus) who must have been over 20 stone came down on top of me, pushed me under the acrylic waterfall and the jets behind it pinned me in place..

blacked out after about 30 seconds under and woke up on the flagstones by the pool,, luckily the pool lifeguard guy did his job that day and another person saved my life..

i got really badly cut up and smashed against some rocks when messing about on holiday one time, that was lucky to get away alive from.. i just shouldnt swim anywhere or ride bicycles either because i have a nack for attracting dangerous situations.. or ski or drive or ever touch some kids skateboard and then try and go down a huge hill, ive never ever been able to skate for more than 3 feet before planting my face into the ground, but this time down the huge steep tarmac hill i hit about 40mph and stayed on for a good 100-200 yards, but that was just alot of skin and alot of blood, not deadly just stupid..

i'll learn when im dead..

Nov of '76 and dead drunk I go tumbling out of the back of my El Camino right in the middle of Francis Lewis Blvd in Queens while another friend was driving; 2.5 days later I come out of the coma, I didn't/can't recall a thing. not very glamorous.

Almost choked on food..People in the other room didnt know a thing.

started choking on start of inhale after exhale, not much oxygen in the system at the time. Took about 2 seconds for the narrowed vision, another half second to drop to my knees. No coughing, no noise at all. It dislodged itself right before total darkness.

Whole incident felt like just a few seconds. No time to react, no way to think clear.

I guess oxygen depletion clears the mind for ya. Throat hurt like a bitch too.

Been there done that too. Still the weirdest experience ever. See the ground, see the sky, See the ground, see the sky. Seemed like it took forever to stop. No seat belt. If I have it on would have been dead. Came out the back seat. Was less than 4 inches between the roof and the front seat.

I bear some pretty nasty scars on my chest from being stabbed and picked up by the blades and then tossed back down and kicked in the head/body by about 6 lowriders over a six-pack of beer. They wanted the beer, I told them to fuck off, they surrounded me, I still told them to fuck off, they got me from behind, took me down and the leader stuck me in the chest w/ 2 blades and they proceeded to kick me relentlessly. I was pretty fucked up from it.

I got a few more stories to tell. I'm not trying to make people think I'm some type of super-human or tough guy like, WOW HE'S SO GANGSTER!!!
I'm just sharing MY experiences, period, that's all, that's it folks.

I've saved a couple people from drowning. I saved two different people on two seperate occasions from drowning. One being someone very close to me. I was part of someone elses near death experience on a few occasions. I got more shootings & stories like that, but since some can be skeptical of the truth, I assure you I'm for real, I won't post more because from the outside looking in, they are stories that most would have a hard time believing for whatever reason...but where I grew up, it's a million stories like mine...and a lot of those stories are told by others because the person involved is dead or in jail. I'm fortunate enough to tell my own stories for self, no narrator needed..!

When I was 10, I was impaled through the rib cage & liver in a playground accident. I lost a lot of blood, & was very fortunate that some other kid's family put me in their station wagon & hauled ass to the ER. I can still remember watching my mother's face screaming in horror at all the blood. I also remember slipping in & out of consciousness as I was going into shock, & they were fighting to keep me awake by the time I arrived at the hospital.

Another near death experience was when I was 19. It was when I was in USMC bootcamp in Parris Island, and it was a near drowning. It was a very deep pool used for swim qualifying & helicopter crash simulation. I had already qualified, but the drill instructor made me & a few others take an advanced rescuer course, loaded me up with full gear: boots, flak jacket, rifle, helmet, everything, & told me to swim 100 yards with it! Hell, my ass sank to the bottom after I did about 70-80 yards, & I couldn't move any more. I fell unconscious, & then woke up later out on the pool deck after they revived me. I still can't believe that motherfucker watched me & let me sink to the bottom of the pool, before he decided to jump in & rescue me!

Third, NDE (unbelievably stupid on my part), I was 28, & had one of those Ram-Air WS6 Trans-Ams. I was racing some dude in another TA on a wet morning. We reached a curve & my car lost traction, spun around a few times, smashed a guard rail at high speed, & deflected off a big tree. I should have been killed in that one for sure, but the seat belt & air bag saved my life without a doubt. Had I hit that tree straight on, the outcome would have been different.

And I hope to have no more NDE's!

tell em.....I'm sure they will be interesting, phuck those disbelievers who get their thrills from Hollywood.

Speaking about Hollywood, often you will see a staged accident on film and you say to yourself, "arrhhh that's staged and so fake, in real life it would be much different" but for example I've seen lots of cars hit pedestrians on film and always thought it looked so fake, but then I actually saw a guy get hit by car (actually the car doing 40 or 50 mph rear ended a car that had broken down on a two lane suburban street and the guy was standing in front of the broken down car) and he flew up in the air about 15 or 20 feet doing several somersaults like a trampoliner and landed on the other side of the road hitting his forehead on the gutter taking the top of his head off, well not off completely, it sort of was hinged on the back and his whole body started wildly convulsing like a shot replicant in Blade Runner, this wasn't a NDE, this was his DE...poor bugger..but the whole thing was just like an exaggerated Hollywood stunt with really good makeup.

My stories and some others aren't really NDE's, more like close shaves, NDE are when you see the bright white light at the end of the tunnel or whatever, close shaves are "fuck, that was close!.......but hey, I like reading about them anyway.

I'll post this one...One time me & some of my buddies at the time, were going to a party. We couldn't find the house where the party was at so we had to drive around a different neighorhood than where we lived at. So we're driving & driving until eventually a car starts following us, going faster & faster. We then all of a sudden are speeding through the streets at speeds of like 50 maybe 60 mph! We were moving fast!!! These are not big streets either regular ol' city blocks.

Why so fast you ask?? Well this whole time a car load of gang members are chasing us. We eventually hit a dead end & then reverse the car to leave the alley unto the street & we lose them. So we reverse it up out of the alley & we are now feeling safe about to get back on the street & get the fuck outta there! Well, a random car comes & stops right as we're just about to turn out unto the street, just a foot away or so & were gone but nope. We're blocked & eventually in the time it took to stop & yell at the driver of the other car to move, the car full of gang members catches up & finds us.

Two guys with guns then are about to step out of the car. I notice this & get out to take cover behind the car to get off a few good shots at these chumps we did nothing to, (I was in the back seat). Yeah, I had my "bodyguard" with me that day, but no one knew it...lol No one in the car was a gang member but in the hood those that know, you know how it is. Well I got out, took cover & start dumpin' a few shots at their car. These guys were only able to open their car doors, set there feet on the ground & that's all, "shots fired". They get back in their vehicle, reverse it up out of their & they bailed the fuck out of there asap. The driver in the car that was blocking us (he was about to turn into this alley & the guys who were chasing us were turning into this alley behind us to give you all a better understanding). So we we're blocked on both sides, near a dead end street. No way out. We would've all probably been dead or something that day. Luckily, I had a way out thanks to my girl Nina, otherwise who knows..?! I've only shot if I absolutely have to and as happened here...No Way Out.

This was years ago by the way, nothing recent. I'm not carrying all the time nowadays. Just a legal one at home for protection.
