beatles came up with the best new stuff and great songs, made you think. stones were partying music, at their best. they had their sound and it was great, but the beatles changed it all and moved the bar way up.

Yeah I like the Stones but the period was dominated by public school boys trying to be rock stars. In a way, 'The Who' were the real deal, working class kids from the council estate...and their sound was brilliant. Beatles were working class too but its not the greatest band for me. Must admit, despite being British and loving 'The Small Faces', Zeppelein, the american bands just soared in comparison: Love, Hendrix, Jefferson Airplane, Gil Scott Heron, Beefheart..endless ingenuity. Modern British stuff is just Indie dirge repeated ad infinitum.

The guitar riffs of Richards are so much more soulful then the Beatles. To say the beatles were original and the stones weren't is just wrong. Richards stole from the best man, and the Beatles were so pop oriented it makes my dick limp.

They were both fantastic bands . My aunt saw the Beatles in Hamburg when Stu,and Pete Best were in the band. She told me that they absolutely rocked the club along with all the whores and local patrons. They burned out on touring after six years while the Stones were just getting going after six and still are cranking along fifty years later. It isn't fair to say who's the best or worst they both have made music that will never be equalled in my lifetime. Jon 54
