funny, i woulda thought sd is the best place to be homeless, the weather is spectacular.

ya but theres alot of competition . homeless under most bridges and in canyons fucking everywhere. so if you want help theres a long waiting line . and peoples attitude towards the homeless has become sour. ocean beach the black changed they saying dont feed the bears . to please dont feed the bums. bumper stickers and shirts flew out the door LOL

but just like foreigners find out when they move to the US, its not the proverbial land of milk and honey... thats basically what I meant... that, the fact that the state has a shit ton of problems and life here is so micromanaged by all the liberal laws (with the exception of MMJ laws; prop 215 and SB 420 are tops) here it is very much a pay to play game... State Gov. says " oh you want to do ______, there are laws against that, but you can apply for a permit and or license; pay the filing fee, it will be submitted for review and will either be approved or denied"

my elderly grandmother had a car port for years to protect her vehicles... one day the sherif came to the door and told her that "there was a law against metal carports being so close to a major street (she was on a frontage road with a sound barrier wall between her street and the main road) and she must take it down" and "that if she did not the county could fine her and put lien on her property, further more if she wished to keep the carport up she could pay a $7,000 non-refundable application fee; which could still be denied! welcome to Cali!

can't argue with the outdoor... our nature, or what is left of her, is amazing... and we can grow fire just about anywhere in the state.

I have been flloating around Calif. since the early sixties, (with a few years in Nam and Montana interspersed), and can tell you Infinitesimal is right. I farm, am a hay contractor, and hike, (arrowhead hunt) for a hobby, and often try to visualise this land "before white man" got here. What a vast, beautiful place this had to be in an unspoiled condition. Had to be stunning, and still is in the places I frequent. But, "No" is correct in the problems associated with this states legal stance. As an example, (and let's not get another firearms thread started, here. Plenty of that GOOD conversation elsewhere on this site.) the state of California has made it illegal for one of it's citizens to go to Oregon, or Montana, or ANY other state and purchase a firearm. That type of law says to me that Calif. thinks it OWNS it's citizenry. As does the statute Infinitesimal refers to. And, yes, we CAN grow fire! The peak of the closest mountian to my front door is exactly 4 miles as the crow flies, and haven't been able to see that peak in two weeks due to smoke from forest fires. Probly best not to get started on forest management policies either. She's an absolutely marvelous place to behold, but the folks running her are a bit "off". To live in the population centers affords one all the audio- visual distractions any other cities do, but high wages and high cost of living. To live amongst the trees and bare land one must put up with far lower wages and far less "culture". But, there are remote sections of many counties in the northern half of the state where a person can, literally, melt into those trees.

Well one amazing and often overlooked fact is that over 40 years ago the population of the world and of the US was almost half what it is now.

Amazing in that it took us from the dawn of man until the mid to late 1900's to build a sustained world population of a little over 3 billion but in about 4 to 5 decades we've more then doubled that.

HHHMMM, its almost as if population growth is exponential. Well, until...

Unless we can work our way up the Kardashev scale, but I don't see that happening before our extinction....I digress.

Just a single point of view from me. There are so much well known & hidden history about California that refelcts on its mythical actual larger than life status.

Born and raised on the East Coast for more than 20 years. You can read some of my older posts about my cannabis experience there.

California is the most cannabis lax place on planet Earth thanks to Prop 215 and SB 420. That is why I live here. The first time I came to California was in the Bay Area circa Sept 2000 for High School sport match. I remember seeing the concrete laden San Francisco International Airport. Going over the San Mateo bridge looking out at the Western Sunset pondering that I've seen the Eastern Sun rise out of the water all my life was a beautiful sight to see. At that time I knew nothing about the MMJ culture at all. It was the California land, sun and the dry breathable air that captived me.

Fast forward 6 years. I moved from Atlantic City NJ direct to Huntington Beach CA. Arriving there the notion that Southland is known for vast highway arteries proven to be true. First night there moving... I took a wrong exit somewhere off 605 freeway. All of suddenly two cops fishtailed in the middle of the intersection through the red light. There are way more less cops in California than in the Bos Wash corrdior.

Huntington Beach is the commerical face of Orange County. Lot's of steretoypes can be found there. It's a modern county with freeway system designed better than Los Angeles county. Many cities in Southland are very populated. I had many fond experience touring Los Angeles and SFV hunting for the best OG. Los Angeles is a whole world itself. Vast international mix of people and huge disaprity of income with flat and mountainous terrains. It's like a first world and third world living couple of miles apart. Southland has a very interwovened economy that rivals New York City area. San Diego... Didn't have much experience there. Based on what I've seen, it's like Los Angeles with less people and better scenery. Southland is more of a consumer based economy due to limited natural rescoures down there. Los Angeles is similar to NYC that is very spreaded out with lot less skyline display. Orange County is akin to the culture of Northern Jersey and some of Southern Jersey mixed. Due to outreageous real estate costs and the idea of being trapped around 18 + million people in the "desert"... I moved up north. That will be another whole post sometime soon.

I dont think we need to worry about population. Just as soon as the dollar is purposely collapsed, you will see a big dip in the general population, in the land of the living. Alot of people have a misconceptions about california. When I was a teenager I moved to Portland Oregon and was instantly the "Cool Kid" cause I was from Cali. I was no cooler than any of my friends where I came from? But we were kinda the innovators of hip hop in my city at the time. The questions they asked me were out of this world, Like movie stars and rappers are walking around everywhere or something. Their reality or California came directly from movies and rap video's, lol. They thought that it was basicly a war zone, One big huge never ending ghetto.
I will say that those kids in Portland were way ahead on the Cannabis scene. I was blown back by the knowledge these high school kids had on cannabis. These kids had multiple hidden outdoor grows in nearby forest's. My sophmore year in Portland was the first time I actually smoked some AAA buds and not some shit brown brick mexi weed back in cali. This was in like 1991-1992.
California is the forefront of trends. Most trends are started in California and for the most part we are about a year or 2 ahead of most other states. Altho this is changing fast with social websites and media being more expansive.
I for one dislike living in the city in California. To much crime, to many abusive cops, to many people in a rush, to many rude people, Just too many people. Now that I'm a little older I wanna get the hell out of here. Move to the boondocks, Live on a few acres. Raise some dogs, some chickens, Grow vege's and just live a simple life away from all the nonsence, away from all these drainers, backstabbers and wannabees.

Some of the best expierences, and worst, job market sucks, eye candy in every direction, lines, lines frickin lines, but mostly in the bigger cities. The beaches are always great, but not better than Floridas, you have a mutual universal agreement out there to say FUCK the POLICE, and you will see shite you never would have imagined possible, the mantality is advanced in race acceptance, but ppl get class mixed up with the race seperation, and the state really are type of people who can live on the most active faultline in the world, as well as the most active volcano region on the planet, and with that said most live or built on the coastline which is perfect for front row seats for tsunami, so, really people in cali got some big nutts draggin, and live that way!

I cant believe how petty the city, and codes gotten over the years, I remember getting my first car, and washing it on the front lawn, well I also got my first ticket too, for doing so, I was really pissed, I cant believe they mess with the owners who are no the ones doing the tagging, thats ass backwards, hell start paying the bastards to paint murals that say fuck code enforcement!

Aonther great risk californias face is up north in the deltas, San jose and surrounding cities are basically a frickin fish bowl, built under sea level, you can tell when driving in that city aint no flat road anywhere, even their train wobbles, and you cant find a straight track. This area up north is where the sea, and the mountain water meet, the very fact the state has no funds to keep up with the leveies is a matter of time all the drinking water will suffer a great loss, and there are no other means to get water to that many people, it just crazy, but people still flock here.

Yep, absolutly correct, I grew up in Long Beach, during the same time you said, and I moved to mulyipal states, even little po dunk towns, and everywhere I went most thought LITERALLY the state was going to have the big one, and break of and fall into the ocean. Most think that everyone live right on the beach, and yes everyone thinks you know famous people, and I have seen my share, and lived across the street from a New England patriot, who has 3 rings. But not worth the hype of it all thats for sure. Your right to much going on in cali, and just the traffic alone is enough to get out.

Well the traffic is the same anywhere, I want to kill people when in other small cities out of cali find ways to sit in traffic when there only 10 ppl on the road, and thats not cool, but it has taught me that I move to fast, most other states move slow as hell compaired to cali.

Actually IMO East Coast States from Boston to Washington DC moves at a much faster pace than California in general especially in the New York Metro area. If you were to measure the state boundary of California to the North East states, I'm sure that you will hit over 60 million people.
