i guess i will find out... i'm taking a break from growing (too busy to do it right) and i have several jars to tide me over.

when the weed goes bad - the lights go back on!

ps i have one jar of killer queen that is 18 months old and tastes wonderful!

Once it is cured and then dryed down to 50 %rh in a sealed jar at room temp it should last for a very long time. I imagine it will be smoked long before it goes south

Hello all,

I am smoking buds from the fall of 2010...very smooth and the stone is great. The buds have been in the cool dark corner of my closet in half-gallon mason jars since drying and burping. They are just fine...even better now then when first harvested. Still perfectly moist.

This is my experience, your milage may vary.

I find that using a vacuum sealer with wide mouth jar lid attachment maintains the humidity better than just plain hand tightening the lids of jars.

If jarred at proper humidity and tightly sealed it will last a long time. I tried using my foodsaver to vacuum seal some product for long term storage and I wasnt a fan of it definitely prefer the jars keeps the product alot better in my experience.

I think it starts to decline after about 6 months, imo. The flavor and sticky dankness just isn't there, the same as 30 day old bud. 12 month old green isn't the same.

still smokeable, still gets you stoned, might even be stronger in some respects. But the character of the flavor/terpines starts to diminish, imo. The essential oils, etc.

I find that 30 days curing (count begun after it's dried, not when it's chopped) is still too 'green' for me, I really prefer a minimum 2mo cure. I keep my parameters as tight as I can as far as storage temperature and relative humidity-- <70*F, 60%-65%RH
are optimal in my world.

I no longer use jars, I use bins and vacuum sealing. However! I did discover a paper bag full of 2yo weed late last year. Due to how and where it was stored, it wasn't the best, certainly wasn't what it was when it had a 3mo cure on it, but it was smokable no problem.

As long as there is no mold, it should be alright for a bit still, IMO. I still prefer vacuum sealing to really stop any progression of degradation, along with keeping it out of all light.
