What's new

old school breeders serving up total crap!!

Iron_Lion

Yes, Dutch and Euro breeders are losing the 'touch' that used to be there....but as mentioned, we have stateside boys doing big things with genetics....GSC anybody?

Atleast when the Dutch were on top they actually bred strains. What I see coming out of the US is a whole lot of clone smashing. Take some hot clone, smash it to some random male and put the seeds out as quickly as they can. And if it's not just some random crossing it's a reversed clone.

Sooo sick of hearing about GSC, it looks pretty but I have yet to see a plant that has buds bigger then a quarter (25 cents not 1/4 oz). I cant see how anybody can pay the bills producing such little yields.

You guys never heard of Mr. Nice Seed bank it seems. They're still legitimate breeders out there still using old school genetics. Wake up people! Don't believe the hype.

From what I understand a lot of the Dutch breeders intentionally tried to breed out some of the skunk overpowering smell in favor if the sweeter phenos. Apparently it would stink so bad that growers were getting busted (I imagine how bad it woulda smelled before the days of badass carbon scrubbers, ozone generators, and ona.) I wish they woulda kept the original line and then tried to breed a sweeter skunk without sacrificing the original cultivar.

Palm to face!.......Noooooooooo! So I payed x amount for a Tshirt I take it. Just my luck.....I have a crazy babys momma that took me to court for custody of my son that i have 100% and got worried she would call cps to check my home situation( never gave a reason to be suspect, I just figured she might) so better safe than sorry I tore down a 5 week in katsu bubba 1000w run of 9 plants. Court went through an she ended up worse then she started lol. But I still lost my mother since I had no home for her in the meantime. Next with no access for genetics I ran some seeds that came from my blackberry kush that got pollenated by a late opener on my bubba. ALL HERMIE SEEDS. Another killed run for meds.

And now the seeds I order are not worthy of poppin. Seems like I got the short end of the stick again. Thanx for the heads up.

I got some seeds off marijuana-seeds.nl a while back, a feminized Bubblegum and Blue Dream S1. Both were A+ legit with excellent phenos from both to select from. I believe these were/are the "house brand." Not exactly breeding here, just crosses and such, but I think there are a lot of good crosses out there on the market waiting to be discovered. The problem is branding, or lack thereof, which is complicated due to the inverse relationship between "having your name out there" and "safety and security"....which might explain the lack today of good breeders with big names. Many of the "big" names have everything, all their operation farmed out for security reasons....which is ridiculous. The truly good ones are probably all flying low under the radar.

We need more capable and determined people to step up and get in the breeding game. Start reading those Luther Burbank books I uploaded to The Pirate Bay. This guy was a genius and it will tell you everything you need to know about breeding. As I take it the main difficulty is in organization, and setting up a good system to keep track of things. There are a lot of minute details to it, many plants, many records, collecting pollen and fertilizing the branches you want on the right plants without getting things screwed up, then of course growing out a lot of plants to select from. It just takes somebody with balls to rent a warehouse and put their effort and energy into it.

Arthritis, mr nice is a great company, the guy above shoulda said greenhouse sucks instead of mr nice. Greenhouse seeds is an international joke to the people who actually know what's up, that's why they come up with gimmicks like colored seeds instead of new varieties that are actually worth a damn. When shanti left them that was the day they went from breeders to just seed makers, all they have is repackaged versions of the shit shanti did or deceitful knock offs like their "bubba kush" that doesn't even gave bubba in it.

amen...

sick of all the hype too tbh.

and tbh even when the dutch were on top they bred the plants to be a good smoke and to yield. all the cali strains and the other strains coming up in the usa yield shit.

so yup they can breed dank but its just not worth the electric it cost to grow it.

^ Consensus seems to indicate they can develop random or spontaneous mutations, sometimes beneficial, sometimes deleterious. I haven't personally seen it happen, but it seems plausible and others have witnessed it.

My D9 sensi star originally grew as a broad leaf. After 15-20 or so runs in my cab she grew narrow, 7 fingered leaves. Potency did not drift, but aroma intensified. Weird.

There are very few breeders anymore. Just people doing the same crosses anyone can do in a closet.

How many OGs can ya cross into chems? Lame as hell

OG is a great flavor with a great high. But it's lanky and doesn't produce cola sized buds.

So people are crossing it to retain the flavor of the OG and get cola sized buds.

That IS breeding.

What's lame about that?

I remember the stinky skunk. The more growing became an indoor thing the more the stink was bred out as a precaution..Very sad.
I agree that breeders that sell untested seeds shouldn't even call themselves breeders ....and then charge 80.00 or whatever for them..thats pure greed man...and imo its ruining the industry. There are so many BS crosses out there its hard to know what we are getting these days. A genuine cut or an S1 or a ???? Makes me value the stuff I acquired in the 2000's that much more...

Powerkush (dinafem) has a nice skunk smell to it, with more the Cheese flavor. (sweet skunk)

@ least the Powerkush I had, did.
