"Partnering" with the landlord of the house

I am room mates with the guy who owns the house. He is interested in running a small 5 plant operation with me. What liability am I at by running this with him? If we get caught would he take full responsibility or could I be at blame as well? How can I minimize my risk?

Thanks for the input/help!

it depends alot on where you are, the political climate and a bunch of other variables....
so pretty much impossible to answer..
is your roomate/landlord willing to take full responsibility when it comes down to it? should he have to?

I am in Canada. Either way he's probably going to do the grow. Hypothetically, if I was any other room mates not involved, would I be held liable? I know tons of growers who have other people living with them in the house but they aren't involved. Can they still be held liable?

Don't mean this in an offensive way but it sounds like your already looking for a way out if shit goes down. If you are scared of the consequences I think you should move on. There is a VERY REAL risk in this industry and it isn't everyone.

No offense taken. I understand the risk and have been in several previous grows. I'm just trying to minimize the risk wherever possible.

Either way, my landlord is most likely going to do a grow. If I'm not technically involved am I still at risk?

I'd say (beside the legal aspect in your location) that your main liability (not really a liability, more of a concern) is getting screwed out of the proceeds. Greed does funny things to folks.

This would be a hobby grow with only a few plants. I'm not too worried about that to be honest. If I get screwed out of the proceeds I'd be more worried about losing my room at this awesome house than a few pot plants. :)

this question depends on where you live. the U.S would hold you responsible.. in most states i would assume. guilty by association..

well owners usually get the screws given too them....
BUT, being privy to the plants and process... could be presented {by the right barrister}...as
being involved and aware of the illegal activity....
BUT ...a even better barrister could and would prove....."ignorance is bliss"
as in U don't know shit and unaware.....
that would only work.... if the landlord/homeowner where to accept full blame if a bust where to accrue......
ALSO.... do be aware that growing between friend usually ends ....NOT SO G00d....
so then growing between landlord & tenant.... probably want end any better.....

You're not a room mate with someone who owns the property, you are a guest or a paying tenant. I would say that if he owns the house, his ass is really on the line if you all get got.

Does he understand that he could lose his property?

Good luck!

Consult a lawyer...tell him/her you have been offered a room for cheap at someone's house and explain they want to grow also...do no discuss where you really live or the real facts...make one up somewhere across town or something and do not give your real name to them...pay the cash, get the answer and go...
