What happens after the police get a "tip"?

It's done to show that your bill is abnormally high. When requested through subpoena the electric company shows your usage compared to 3-5 other similarly sized residences in your area. If your bill is $300 and the other houses are $50-100 (for example) then the cop writes in his application for a warrant that your house uses 6 times as much electricity. Just knowing your bill is $300 is useless unless they can put it in context.

All I'm saying is that people use electricity, not houses, so what matters is how many people live in the house and I don't have natural gas I only have electricity to heat with unlike my neighbors. I understand how leo would use the info I'm just saying it doesn't make any logical sense.

Lol, it's not like the cops drive by and drop stems in your trash can. They pull your trash and then when it's back at the station they can just say whatever they want was found in it. They'll even take stems from wherever (evidence, personal bag, idk) and take pictures of it like it was in your trash (ask me how I know). Also, if they see you put your trash out late, they will put that in their warrant application too - "trash was put out shortly before pickup, which is common for a grow house." Basically, the cops just say anything is common to a grow house (like, "they kept their window shades shut").

Well I'd rather it say in the app that "trash was put out shortly before pickup, which is common for a grow house." then to have pics of stuff. But I'm legal anyway. BTW I also put the trash out late to avoid identity theft, animal intrusion and some old guy who goes though everyones trash in his Sunday best. Sometimes I put my trash across the street too.

But more to the point of the thread. Would they pull your trash in a medical state? I don't see how it SHOULD help get a warrant if you MAY be a legal medical user.

this really is a good idea. ask her for advise about another small legal issue. think of something plausible. ask if she'll give you some legal advise on it, ideally pick something where a legal document needs to be written. this explains why you need her to do it. then all you have to do is pay for the legal help she gave you and bam she is your lawyer and can not share any information about you with anyone let alone the cops. hard part will be to get it past her without her realizing what you're trying to do.

Back to your question "What happens...", when a complaint is filed a report is written and an investigation is started. An investigation may be cursory or through.

this part of the question is next to impossible to answer without knowing someone in the local pd. each one might have slight different criteria for when to start a investigation and how big to make it. if some neighbor phones the cops here and all he has is the people upstairs are smoking cannabis on their balcony, the cop will say there is nothing we can do, it's in the home and as smoking is only a small fine issue over here, they don't have the right to invade your privacy for it. if they say he is growing though, it's a whole other matter, then they will look into it.

i imagine they will do a knock and talk first, if your sis openly makes a statement that you her bro are growing. if she says she has seen the growing plants and knows they are cannabis, they will come in raid mode. if you think she will do something like that you might really be best off shutting down for a while.

getting a med rec would be the only way you could ignore her threats. just research how it is in your state. best of luck. terrible to have a family member threatening such a huge betrayal on another family member.

depends on who gets the tip i would imagine.i cant believe the cops or dea hasnt busted my friend with all the letters his ex customer has sent to police and dea. he was a major coke dealer way back and got busted . all i can say is better safe than sorry. so glad i am medicinal. no worries here

It doesn't stop her from her damn high and mighty attitude, and wierd allusions to her "duty" as a lawyer to rat me out. She says it some kind moral code she took when she was sworn in as a lawyer. She is currently out of a job because about every six months she gets fired for being a whiny bitch. I think the last lawyer job she had was those people who sue places. Like those billboard lawyers.

I NEVER throw anything like that out. I can't believe people would throw that stuff in their personal trash can. In the state I live in, I have never heard of someone getting busted for 100's of plants, let alone four. We are a very poor state. But given I am a teacher they would probably jump at the chance to put my face on the news. I do think there is a reason they don't drug test teachers in this state, because they wouldn't have any teachers left!

NOT a card (assuming you're in California), a RECOMMENDATION. The recommendation is private information that only you, your doctor and perhaps your attorney should have a copy of. A state ID card, as issued under the MMUA program, aka SB420, puts your information into a searchable database. I would assume that school districts may be able to search this database as law enforcement can.

The cards are issued in one of two ways--by the county health department where you reside, or by the issuing agency/recommending doctor. By both means the information is recorded. It's also important to remember that by acquiring the card you are voluntarily agreeing to limit yourself to the 6/12/8oz (or whatever the finished limit is currently) guidelines.
