do uk cuts match up to the usa's finest??

i recently made a few coments in a thread about og kush which i probably shouldnt have entered.
but it was mentioned that the uk have very little to off in terms of breeding projects ect. it was even said that we get the scraps after the usa folks are done. it kinda disheartend me a bit. i have been thinking about it since and i wondered what other peoples views are?
do we have strains that are as good as the US? or are we slacking way behind in the scene?

the problem with the USA is they hype there stuff up through publicity and the med scene

the cookies has entered the uk and some of the og cuts it's just a matter of time before we get to know the truth

thought i would add a few things,a it seems the usa has more accessabiltiy to clones/ elite cuttings than the uk grower/ smoker/ etc due to the medicical movement, it also seems that there is alot more selection of these sort after plants/ cut/elite happening in the usa
I have tryed the ogkush lemon larry, and sours in amsterdam, and captain kryptonite bx1og kush, rez sourd and chemdog haze,and they all were great smokes and an array of flavours lemons, skunky, garlic sour etc, strains that i hav tried in the uk that match the usa strains are pineapple,lemon haze,amnesia, exdust cheese,nyc tangerine,hashplant, k2 cut,

i think you are looking at this the wrong way. i live in cali(best.weed.ever) but i send money to the uk for seeds.

I've smoked the best Cali can offer from 1990 to 2006, mostly in Humboldt, Nevada and Lake counties, also Ontario, all the weed was inferior to clone only strains I've grown during that period and up to now

The best I had was some Northern Lights in Toronto, this actually tasted just like the NL I was growing at home in the UK at the time ...... old school seeds and grower

The recent study showing European weed was dropping from 20+% to 17% or less THC, also mentioned that US weed was getting stronger, from 8% to 10%+ ...... which seems to bear out what I've experienced

the culture is different in the US, plus we are bigger and grow more cannabis so of course we are going to find more elite cuttings... its shear probabilities.

do your cuttings match up odds are most likely not... but there will be exceptions of course... EDIT: I mean that most of the cuttings from european seed stock that float around the UK and greater europe from the larger european seed breeders are most likely not going to be on the same level as the best US cuttings... as cheese isn't on the same level and if there were a bunch of cuttings from the UK better than cheese Im sure we would see them or at least hear about them more often, but It seems like a lot of the UK guys are still raving about cheese; though i haven't really looked into it lately to be honest

secondly do you get legit cuttings of elites from the US... thats the big one... I can't say but would assume that its a mixture of both legit and fraudulent cuttings that get shipped out your guys' way

There are plenty of US elites in the UK, Ghost OGK, Abusive OGK, Pre '98 Bubba Kush, Triangle Kush, KKSC, ECSD, Chem D, GSC etc

SSSDH - OJD and True's Casey Jones cuts have to rank up there for UK cuts IMO

I know more people that are sick of the 'elites' and are going back to popping seeds only, 'hard mode'

not in cali , theres always some fun story behind new cuts and elites

- stole it from a secret government pot farm
- picked it from a mexican drug barons garden
- came from one of the thousand of "old bierdos who lives of the grid miles from civilization in the hills and has been breeding and growing this strain for decades in secret" (but has leccy btw)
- its an heirloom strain that been grown for decades in my area but only mentioned it now

-brought back from special ops in xyz
- my neighbours-moms-roomates-cousin once gave pablo escobar a reach around and was repayed with a nickel bag that contained a seed.
- its the pre 98 version of......




but yeah id guess an awful lot come from greenhouse- they shift so many og/bubba seeds that when folks grow them and find a special pheno they slap name on it and let the bull fly + the amount of whinning over dodgy clone sellers (unless again supplied by honest offgrid bierdo)

ive been lucky enough to grow ECSD, original Diesel/dna cut, giesel, trainwreck, Chem D, casey jones and pre-98 bubba. the only ones i kept were the Chem D and the Bubba. i kept my own, self found blueberry and sharksbreath cuts over them and would ditch chem D as well before i ditched those two... so really the bubba is the only one that would make my top 3 mums.

i'd like to try an OG at some point...

its all very personal though. im not looking for the strongest weed in the world because i have plenty of weed to smoke.

but yeah, hype is a huge part of the whole scene too and it's easier to hype cuts in america because of the med scene etc

I think when you compare the size of the 2 countries the laws,weather and amount of growers,breeders.
You have to agree the UK rocks with strong tasty erbs and strains..
And nuff top class growers too!!

I hear ya, I really like a few of the elites but for the most part the cuttings I've selected through my seed runs have yielded excellent cuttings that people with elites beg me for so, it depends there are a lot of really average to poor cuttings and even more average to poor seed banks and breeders in the overall world wide market.

so for most people in the US, those that don't follow genetics on one of the canna forums, its easier and much more reliable to pick a clone variety from a friend that already grows it than it is to try and navigate through the online and magazine-add seed world... that contains just as much if not more hype between the largest breeders... to be honest.

but luckily we here at IC have a wealth of knowledgable people and unique, talented breeders to choose high quality seeds from, and thats where I believe we (EDIT: by we I mean the cannabis community) collectively have a upper hand on those who are stuck on elite clone only varieties.

No doubt europe has some fire cuttings from our side of the pond... just like many people over here have the UK Cheese cut.

It´s my personal fix, sorry for that.
Also to be totally honest i can´t see how second hand opinions can help you out in making up your own mind.
Why don´t you grown/smoke a couple of cuts from different areas and rate them afterwards.
I got cuts coming from France, Spain, Denmark, UK, Canada, USA, Belgium and i might even have forget a few other places. Shall i use my holly experience to rate the cut scene from all these countries?

i have plenty american friends, ive been there on holiday and loved it. i am not a nationalist, nothing of the sort now please stop being petty. keep your political opinions to pm.
