Prof. Michio Kaku (@michiokaku): Have they found the Higgs? We will know on Wednesday. I will be on radio and TV to discuss the matter.

Prof. Brian Cox (@ProfBrianCox): Looking forward to the Higgs update tomorrow from CERN. This is pure curiosity driven exploration happening before our eyes.

You know, I got to say, I find it kind of amazing that scientists get uncomfortable at the idea of messing around with things like genetic engineering and cloning but few bat an eyelash at someone trying to play around with something called the god particle.

We actually paid the boys at CERN to build this machine when all we could've done is give each of them a Fractal T-shirt as a hint..

"Nobel-winning Fermilab physicist Leon Lederman dubbed it "the God Particle" almost two decades ago. (Today, most physicists wish he hadn't.)" :)

Suspect,
This thread is gonna get wild in 3..2..1..
Yes, sorry about that. :)

Yeah so? He dubbed it the God Particle because of the potential forces we could be tapping into if we were to harness it. I'm not saying it's bad I'm just saying it's funny observing the lines in the sand science is willing to cross and the ones it is not.

"Yeah so?" ... I just listen to physicists because that's their forte :) You and I can hypothesize all we like, but these guys are actually putting the algorithms together :)

I wasn't hypothesizing though, I made an observation of how scientists see no problem messing around with something that could potentially be the key to creation but they get all squimish about the idea of trying to improve humans through genetic modification.

Anybody ever done DMT??

wana know why these particles are so illusive??

once your brain sees it, the higher brain we have come to use for understanding cannot make sense of the mechanics of the deep in the same way we do everything else.

so what does the brain do when it can't make sense of things??

it creates its own illusions instead, to protect itself. Just when you begin to glimpse the "light" ..the brain, in its attempt at preserving itself and your mental state. It cuts off the experience, blocking it with walls, ancient psychedelic tapestries of sorts, beautiful as they may be, they are distractions meant to take your mind away from what is the truth.. then begin the visuals of machine mechanics, visuals of elves, of sea creatures or animals:peacock:, or visible highly colorful languages & metaphors that take actually shape and new dimension in front of your very eyes(or in minds eye)...why???

you tell me....

I think its cause the brain wants to protect itself, is subconsciously afraid of this new unknown and doesn't want the "you" inside it to know either...weird :abduct:

i believe very very experienced shamans can access the light at will...I have a feeling that not all can reach that level, stay there and be able to return from that well and bring back the knowledge and a little of the light back with them to this world..

Ask a physicist to explain conciousness. The physicist is unaware that he is the god particle.

Hempkat they don't call it the god particle because of the power it will yield. They call it that because it is supposed to be te particle that causes all others particles to exist when and where they do.

"The Higgs boson is the only particle predicted by the standard model of physics that remains undetected. That may soon end, with a press conference on Wednesday morning at 9 am Swiss time, 8 am UK time, 3 am ET."

Four of the six theoretical physicists credited with coming up with the Higgs mechanism in the 1960s - including Prof Peter Higgs, after whom it is named - have been invited to Cern in Geneva for the presentations, fuelling anticipation of a major announcement.

At the announcement Peter Higgs received a standing ovation for this discovery ... 48 years after he proposed the existance of what we now know as the Higgs boson :) Anybody else get teary!?!?!?
