Apartment medical growing

Figured I'd ask in this sub-forum since it seems to mostly be free of the 400w grow guru's lurking elseware.

For growing in a lower mainland wooden low-rise apartment, is it better to run a sealed room or air exchange venting from the window? My goal is only about 2400-4000w of lighting

do you own the said apartment?

I'm the patient, not designated grower, so its not really an issue other than a yearly fire department inspection.

But it'll be a rental property, ideally it'll be set up so the whole room can be torn down and tucked away in a closet within 4-5 hours if access to the suite is needed

seal it up then, water cooled a/c, injected co2, pond liner on the floor, use a mild spray glue like elmers to hang poly and dont use staples. If it is wood frame construction, screw threaded hooks into the top plates in the walls and string aircraft cable between them to hang the lights (less damage).

My question for you is, how are you going to get the amps needed to run your 4000W grow in an apartment? If your planning on running ballasts off of 15amp wall plug circuits your only going to be able to run 1 ballast wired on 120V per circuit.

What about HC inpections or cop knocks? Will the landlord sign off on it?

I'll probably just run a subpanel from the oven and then use the room's breaker for the carbon filter/scrubber.

For the water cooled A/C should I be using a chilled reservoir for that, or just municipal water? (i think the building im using has free water, so that might work)

HC doesn't inspect, Cops can eat a dick and get a warrant and the landlord doesn't need to sign off if you're the patient.

I've done concrete apartments before, but never grown in apartments in a location where neighbors actually know to look for grows.
I intend on installing a Peep hole camera (30 bucks from ebay) and then running it to an old computer running http://www.zoneminder.com/
Every day I'll be able to review any movement outside my door (only records movement, so my time isn't wasted)
If there are any problems coming, i'll see who's been knocking, sniffing at the door. (camera gets removed any time I know fire inspections etc are coming)

Swamp coolers can cause humidity issues, so a dehumid may be necessary. I find the area directly in front of the swamper can be an issue, especially in summer when they run a lot. When the water is free, they are hard to beat as they use squat for electricity. Sounds like ya got it figured. Good luck. Peace GS

a water cooled ac will work well on city water the only concern would be if the plumbing (the drain) is noisy as the constant sound of water running might concern nearby tenants and result in an inspection to find possible water leaks

FWIW a water cooled ac is nothing like a swamp cooler its regular mechanical refrigeration that uses water to shed heat rather than air

Any issues with just running exhaust out the window through a carbon filter and then maybe some ona in the ducting?

I plan on using air-cooled shades and only 4 or 6 x 600w lighting. Might grow Jammers or something sweeter smelling too to avoid smell

I'm doing very much the same. 2kw flip flop in a spare bedroom in a wood frame apartment, ducts hanging out the window. Crowded but it works :)

Flip flop maybe? 3K running at once? Depending on your temperature situation. You might be able to get away with a smaller AC

Doing 1K in similar situation.... Currently Im venting outside after the air passes thru the carbon scrubber. Initially there was a lot of sound coming from the venting that would lead to a hole on the wall that was previously used for a heater (I removed the heater and was left with an 8inch hole). I managed to eliminate the noise.

Im having heat issues and will soon install a window AC. I didnt even take into consideration a water cooled AC. It gets hot even with air blowing directly from the bulb to the outside. Im using sealed hoods.

I sealed the 1 out of 2 windows and i plan to use the un sealed window to install the window AC. I removed the carpet and set up a DR150 which is 5x5x6ft. It is a great tent that allows for a lot of venting options.

planning to run perpetual. I dont know why so much hate. Its possible. Heat is the only issue and maybe the noise. But some good sucting should take care of noise. Keep us updated, I could use some ideas.
