Good news - I'll bet big tobacky is pissed, and making down payments on buying rights to our humble little herb.
Big tobacco has nothing to worry about,they will keep addicting and killing people till the end of time.
Yeah no real problem for them, just up the nicotine a little and boom problem solved. Recently I was talking with a tobacco store owner about e cigarettes, I had noticed the cartirdges they sell that contain nicotine had much higher levels then what I remembered hearing were the rates of the worst cigarettes for nicotine from back in the 70's and 80's. So I asked if nocotine rates have been going up lately because these cartridges seem to have more nicotine then I remembering hearing about in the past. He confirmed for me that cigarette companies have been increasing nicotine levels especially in the last few years with prices getting above what most are comfortable with paying for something that does them more harm then good.
The whole thing with tobacco is just utterly amazing to me though. I mean here we are denied access to marijuana, whose harm is questinable at best, under the premise that it's bad for us. Yet tobacco which is proven beyond a doubt to be harmful for smokers or even just people who come into contact with tobacco smoke is fully sanctioned and allowed by government because they make so much money off of it. Not only is it supported though but apparently there is nothing in place to prevent the companies from making it worse by increasing the levels of the very ingredient that makes it so harmful.

In economic terms.... tobacco is not a substitute for weed. They do not compete. When I go to the gas station and they're out of smokes (which they never are), I don't immediately think.... shit, lemme call my dealer... Splenda is a substitute for sugar. Marlboros? I don't think so. C'mon people...
Marijuana use has been on the rise and tobacco use has been on the decline. This isn't news.

not around here I think, pretty much all my weedsmoking friends smoke tobacco too, but not al my tobaccosmokingfriends smoke weed.

I don't have any sources for this but I remember back in the 70's and 80's people were saying that Phillip Morris already had packaging and marketing planned for when/if marijuana became legal.

Oh ye... the other day an old friend came round and we smoked a joint or three you know how it is.. The thing is the lung gunk from cigarette's is so sticky compared to weed you wouldn't believe it and it's tough to clear it in the morning.

Yeah, that would fix the problem. Prohibition worked so well with cannabis, right? I haven't been able to find it anywhere since they made it illegal.

I think there will always be some people who choose to smoke tobacco. I don't want it, but I don't think I should make that choice for someone else. It's enjoyable, I guess, and people want it. It is kinda crazy that a plant that's been proven to be so harmful is available everywhere while people still get sent to jail for weed.

i think they sell cigarettes because they want sick people in order to keep the hospitals full and keep the money rolling for the big pharma.
the politicians are the biggest criminals among us they dont care if you healthy or not.
and why shouldnt you smoke? the world is so polluted it dont matter anymore if you smoke or not.
