how high should i hang bulbs?

sorry if this has been answered, i searched a few different things with "site:icmag.com" and couldnt find anything

how high are you guys hanging your bare bulbs? I am gonna be running 2 1000's and 2 600's, so also should the different watts be hung at different heights or the same?

i want to veg to about 2 - 2 1/2 ft then flip to flower for 4-5ft plants if that matters

my bulbs are below the tops of the plants...i think growing vertically your canopy is on the side of the plant, not the top. so its not really how high the bulbs are for me, but how far back the plants are from the bulb. im on my 2nd vert run after 17+ yrs indoor with hoods...

If you do vertical, you do not want bulb to be ON TOP of canopy, ( you want your plants AROUND the bulb 360 degrees )

You should hang bulbs 12 - 30 inches away from the plants depends on your cooling power, i have plants as close as 10 inches from a few k hps and they dont get burn at all.

so my bulbs should be somewhere around mid plant then, they will be open bulbs with fans blowing up from underneath so ill just have to play around to find the perfect distance.. thanks all

yep thats how mine look exactly !!

just put your hand around the perimetter or your canopy and make sure you don't feel any serious heat near the plants upper most point.....if you do move lights, if you dont move em a lil closer.....feel it out so to speak.
