Seed Run Sexing

I am going to be doing a seed run in about 4 weeks. I have limited space so wasting time/soil/money on males is not in the books for me.

can i germ the seeds in root riots, uppot to 1gallon smarties, give them a couple weeks and then flip to 12/12, eliminate males and go back to 24hr light...up pot, veg to desired size and then flower?

how much stress will it put them through force flowering and sexing when they are so young, time is not an issue for me, space is...

any thoughts? is this a sound method?

I think it's unlikely yr scenario will work out. one factor that will take more time ... and cannot be controlled ... is the number of sex-altereds you may get. of course these show when the supposedly female plant is well into flower.

yes U can....U just need too factor in the addition of a few weeks recovery on either end for the stress and transition period....U will probably get more females than usual....this is often the case W/ A STRAIGHT 12/12 SEED RUN.....
but.....Do be aware that NOT all plants will revert back to VEG so willingly.... and will stress....sum in to floppy UN/manageable bushes or lanky long legged lasies.... that all should be culled also..... just look for the strong sturdy STABLE...keeper's.... and it will work out....so pop more than u need and be prepared to cull the weak and non conformist ....

i didnt think about some not revegging...i bet if you can sex within 7 days then that will minimize stress.

Take a cutting, put cutting under 7-9 hours of light, sex will show in 3-14 days. You can do this as early as you are brave enough, 3-4 nodes at least.

that's pretty dependable,
but then again it's not really a rookie move.

cloning for sex is the way to go IMHO.

the only reason i'd ever re-veg anything (other than as a novelty)
would be if it was the very last specimen i had of a real keeper.

I just recently took seedlings that were about 12-16 inches tall and topped them, took half the plant at least, and cleaned up everything but the top 2 sets of leaves on the cutting and put them labeled in a pitcher of RO H2O and into 12/12

in one day they started showing and every day more and more show

thanks guys. i only have one tent so i dont have the ability to take clones. i germinate, veg and flower in a 3x3 tent.

i think my only option is to flip lights early and hope they show sex soon and then flip back....if i can catch them in 3-5 days i would be excited. i think this would cause virtually no stress

Like grow right said above I would go to a 16-20oz cup before the 1gal and watch closely for pre-flowers. Cull the males and transplant to the 1gal, veg to desired size then flip.

Flipping the photoperiod around makes me nervous. Good luck bro

so people don't seem to get how easy this is

do you have a bathroom? do you have any place that you can fit a tiny light and a pitcher of H2O? You don't clone them per say, you just sex them, and then grow out the females.


I did this and in one day I got 3 Sour Cindy's to show preflowers, the next day the biggest one showed her tits and the ugly duckling mooned us and showed his nuts.

you can do this anywhere you can plug in a light and give them 12/12

DIDM the method you mention sounds viable for sure. I may try it next time I pop some beans just to see if I can reduce the time males stay in the room.

my buddy has a tent that is constantly 12/12

i will just cut clones and stick them in his tent and sex them that way.

so i can literally just stick in the rapid rooters and continue to spray down like clones. they will show sex.

i am wanting to main-line all my little girls so i would wait till about 4-5 nodes a growth and then top just above the second node and begin main-lining...the top will be sexed out in a 12/12 tent...
