When Im trimming I like to lay cups of them throughout the house because it really tends to reek up the house, and that covers it... But if trying to use it to mask odours from ur grow instead of a scrubber would not work
Yeah, I open my big jar of the stuff when I smoke inside the house in the morning. It knocks down the smell. Great on residual smoke odors. Leave it open in a heavily used smoking room overnight and air it out next day and you'd never know.
I wouldn't use it to cover an active grow. Need a scrubber.
As everyone else said, Ona is a secondary odor control. Great for times when you're trimming or working in there and want a little extra peace of mind, but definitely not to be used alone.
The only way this is cheaper is if you water down the Ona liquid, which seems cool at first cause it still smells amazing, but makes it rapidly lose effectiveness in my experience. I also found that the soil-moist crystals develop a film of sorts at the top, and needed to be stirred up much more than the real ona gel to break that up and remain effective. Got tired real quick of stirring the bucket every time I walked into the room.
I no longer use Ona gel or liquid, and instead prefer timed sprayers. Ona actually makes refills for the timed sprayers too, but they are a bit more costly than the various refils you can get from other companies.
Here's the deal though - those cans and other cans made for TimeMist sprayers actually work in the cheap lysol timed sprayer you can get at Target/Walgreens/Walmart/Wherever, you just have to save the spray tip from the bottles its made for, and swap them out.
I find this to be a cheap and effective solution for secondary odor control that I really just need to glance at as I walk into the room, as they have an indicator light to tell you if the can has run out.
***To the OP - try using google to search the site instead. You can find all the ona threads with a google search like this: "ona gel site:icmag.com"
Ozium works well to spray when immediate and very effective control is necessary [eg. doorbell ringing]. They make a time mist can also. Neutralizes odors. I also use it at peak smell times when entering and exiting my sealed room. Good luck. -granger
I bought the gel tub from my local hydro store to help with the rotten smell under my kitchen cabinet. I put a piece of aluminum foil over it and poke holes in the top with a pen tip. Seems to really help the gel from constantly drying out to fast. Works like a charm. I use a scrubber for smell in my cabs though.
