Well, well, it's kind of sunny today:dance013: Nothing special about that maybe, but up here, after the snow fall we had on the week end, any kind of sunny day is appreciated.

Guerilla outdoors will have to wait some more, at the edge of the Canadian Prairies it's always the case anyhow. For the time being I'll try my hand at starting a few things indoors. I have got a few plans for the season to come and for that purpose I did get a few seeds.

Sweet 105
Iranian Auto
Pandora
Vertigo
Auto Maria two
Auto Mazar
Super Critical
Low Sonic
Purple Thyphoon
Thyphoons
Nepal 2011
Royal Nepal
Erdbei
Mighty Mite -
Manitoba Tundra
Polar ice
Leda Uno x Leb 27 & Ducksfoot
HFH Freebies
Royal Dane x Durban Excellent
Patriot Medecine
Brickland
StuporSonic
Mighty Freeze
Guerilla Gold # 1
Guerilla Gold # 2
Guerilla Gold # 3
Early Dane
Early Wonder skunk
Mendocino Madness
Madness
Purple Power
Maroc
Purple Maroc
Early Queen
Early Skunk
Haley’s Comet
Biddy Early
Erdpurt (ace)
Original Afghan #1 (seedsman)
Pakistan Citral Kush
Pure Afghan
Malana Cream
Nanda Devi
Maroc Rift Corsaire
leb (RSC)
Nepalese White mountain

One thing about plans is that they should never be written in stone, that goes for everything. As a proof some of the seeds I have germinated have done well so far, others, well others not so well. With the strategy obviously geared towards sheer number I have some room for error. Some room I said, it's still pitiful that some seeds purchased at a great price would not even germinate at all(haley's comet) and others, even more expensive would barely do so at a 50% rate and quite slowly at that (Sweet 105) but that's just the way it seem to be in the wonderful Cannabis market.

With a very short outdoors season (June 1st - Septembre 1st- 15th)
I am and have been reluctant to start things too early indoors. Short veg. time will be the name of the game. Mostly those so called autos (Iranian) that can be kept under 24h later. A few Purple Maroc of late, a few Pak Citral Kush for light manipulation and root binding experiments, Haley's, Biddy early and Sweet 105.

The pure autos will be germinated around Mai 1st.
Most others May 10th.
Some directly outdoors as of May 15th.

In the main time I baby the first batch and am getting ready to get myself outdoors later in the week. Hoping to have most of the sites ready by the third week of May. No sense to hurry, there is still lots of frozen ground out there.

Time for moving from thinking and planning to actually do things! Finally!

Welcome to Niceeven's trial and error 2012 Guerilla Grow.

Hello people, thanks for dropping by.

@kaotic: that's what I think too!

@ friend: Yes and no. It happened over several months obviously and once I realized that one does not have to stick with the "big commercial breeders from Europe"I could find some of the seeds at a very reasonable price. There is greedy people out there but not everyone is I found.

@ FirstTracks: Yeah, well I felt I should run a few just to make sure I found something that does well here. I have found out in the past it's not an obvious thing to do. BUT, I may have over done it!

Hey Mate, thats sounds quite awfull!
So many strains, thats epic.
that will be a lot of work, not only the thousands of small pots (that are gettin bigger and bigger anyways), much more the bunch of work of diggin all the holes for that ladies!

But very nice varieties, you won´t get bored from your harvest so soon :D

Best wishes for your Grows this season mate !

Well i went on a field trip yesterday. You know where things that make sense away from the field begin looking a little less doable!!!

I am going to do just fine Hazeo! But I thank you for reminding me it's a pile of work ahead!

Some of my spots won't do due to changes in the area in recent times, others will deliver much more than expected. That's life right?
IMG_0071.jpg
[/IMG]
There is a wee bit of snow left in places, eh just a second would it be possible some sites warm up sooner than others?
IMG_0074.jpg

Now, that's a little better is it not! OK there is a little work ahead but don't forget that when it's overgrown like that the top layer has a little more substance to it. A tad richer. Why is that important?
IMG_0064.jpg

Well: Would you look at that! Sandy-clay! Fairly good drainage though (I know that soil well!).
Ok, now, I know what the next order of the day is.
IMG_0076.jpg

Lets just pile up some stuff there for the time being. Compost, home made alfalfa compost, bat guano, bloom fert. A wee bit of lime hidden near by for later.

IMG_0065.jpg

Some nicely elevated spots. See how it's all cleared of snow and let me tell you it's quite sheltered. A few trees will have to go but frankly that photo makes it look harder to clear that it really is.

Meanwhile on the home front: Well, it's pretty placid really. Not much happening other than the Iranian Autos slowly filling in their first pots, the purple powers catching on and the Sweet 105's being lethargic (unimpressive batch of seeds if I have ever seing one). The Pakistan Citral Kush are up and so are the biddy early. Out of ten Haley's Comets one one came up and somehow I don't have much faith in it!
IMG_0082.jpg

IMG_0081.jpg

THe 200w cfl is humming nursing veggie seedlings for the time being. (yes ion it's a 200, not a 125 and I trust it will be enough to keep the Iranians from flowering for a few weeks. Just enough so they can bulk up and just long enough so I can pull a Silverback (RIP) on them (putting them into a planter sideways).
IMG_0080.jpg

The T5's (I have a few more like that to say the least but they won't need to be installed for a couple of weeks)
IMG_0079.jpg

Will be enough to keep most of my baby plants going for a maximun of three weeks.
Yes Smoke_A_Lot You got that right: Winter is for making plans and spring to execute and I am chomping at the bit for a chance to show what i can do. But, no point to chomp too much, soon enough I will be buried in the work, that's why one has to be organized and methodical.

Also, Hazeo, bro you are right, a lot of work that will be but fear not, there is a reason everything will be started a little late. I am basically planning on filling my space because I don't plan on going to the next step and transplant everything. I that case I could only put in a quarter of what I am planning and they would all flower later anyhow. Late flowering is a luxury I don't have up here. I would rather finish smaller plants than ending up with a bunch of leaves.
As well, I have a number of seeds I can put into the ground on site as of mid may. That will take away soem of the pressure at home. Yet, it will be tight for a couple of weeks and that will be a significant number of plants to drive for a significant amount of distance. But when that's done then we move into the next phase: The part I love the most.
Finally: there is a second round. Once everything is out a batch goes in at 22 hours of light, to be taken out on June 22nd. Smaller plants yet! BUt that's another story.

Anyhow, enough babbling. Thanks for dropping by people, and: you all have great week!

Well thinks are moving along but not all that fast. Suddenly spring is here. Not all that fast this year but furious nevertheless when it gets here. Up north everything seems to happen faster when things finally get going.

The last few weeks have been a bit of a drag, kind of planning an outdoor guerilla grow indoors while you know you should be working outdoors. I mean the past few weeks that is and finally this week I went to work. Now, there is no shortages of that. My resolve to use as much local materials as possible is wavering a little I must say. I mean, I have a great area but not much soil there, I mean good soil. Also, don't want to say too much obviously but some of the conditions that make it great (stealth, etc) contribute in making it shitty for digging. So I have decided that while I will persevere digging beds the words swamp tubes are starting to make more and more sense. I mean I was planning them anyhow, not just at this scale.

Anyhow, the plus side (and it's a considerable one), is that I found myself the perfect swamps and off to work I go.

The next couple of weeks will be critical. I am guesstimating that in about ten days I will begin transferring plants into a makeshift greenhouse in the field (not built yet) .

In the mean time plants keep growing.

Looking forward, watching it come along.
Good to see your all in, not afraid to be testing cannabis dna. Obviously you have looked high and low for the well selected varieties in your pipeline there.
In paticular I'm excited about the erdput and early dane they ought to be ready for you before season ends. Only thing is how the continental climate can have frost coming early. Over here they are ready mid to late August. Coastal climate though.
Any experience with Early Durban? I think Sensi just call it Durban nowadays.
Got 15 female clones building up seeds are locally produced 2 years ago just not sure how it performs.
Best of luck, that is all you need, with all the hard work being put in.

Thank for dropping by jenery and Minister and thanks for the good wishes seedlin

Minister: You know, I have no experiences with early dane and I just about gave it away to a guy at another forum so busy I am this year. But i will grow it and I hope to have seeds at the end of the year. Mid, end August sounds great to me.

I don't know early Durban. There are folks in Eastern Canada who have something they call Mighty Durban something that if I am not mistaken would have been bred by Breeder Brad of Smoke-A-Lot seeds and I have seen and heard great things about it. I would LOVE to have a durban, early or ordinary, but I decided they would may not finish for me, although the Mighty one may.

I do have a Royal Dane Durban (excellent?????) from a breeder by the name of Aqua (from NL) but unfortunately only a few germinated.

Good luck with your clones bro and have a great season.

Everything is looking really good so far niceeven one thing I would recommend that I've seen good success with is just putting them under a MH (metal halide) after the seedlings are about 3 days old. You need to constantly keep an eye on water levels and temp but it is well worth it because they grow at about 4x (total guestimation) as fast under MH as they do under fluro. I live in the same climate you do (frost by the end of the september) so I know how it is not wanting to veg them long I am curious as to have much you usually yield per plant starting them this late? I start germination on april 20th and mine still finish (assuming its leaning on the indica side) in time for the frost with 8-12 oz's on each.

Hello doctor.dank, thanks for dropping by bro.

As a matter of fact we are talking about a ratio of about 60-40 chance of frost at the BEGINNING of September where I grow. In a nut shell I have to go relatively far to find stealth and I banked it could be worth it. Now, it's not always that bad, but it can be if you know what I mean.
Thats why I was very curious about autos but early tests convinced me not to put all of my eggs in the same basket. That's why I grow so many different strains. It should be narrowed down somewhat next year.

Funny you would say that about the MH I used to grow with MH and I miss it but I just can't right now. Logistics. I pretty much have to crank out about 300 hundred seedlings in a first wave by the end of the first week of June and another 200 between then and June 22TH and I can't say that much more but my situation is less than perfect. Less than perfect but perfectly workable. A kind of quirk that makes it much less suspicious. But it's working so far and I am sure I have planned it well enough for it to work.

I feel that the plants can sense the urgency, meaning that by being put out later and sensing the nights increasing as of June 22nd, they will turn. But I am also convinced that it works best on younger plants, the younger the plants the better essentially. Yields won't be great (hence to beefed up numbers).

Also, yes of course I will screw up plenty in the process ( and yes I know you have not said that). Maybe I am screwing up right now and don't even know yet!!!! Hey, for that matter I have already screwed up the Iranians, or so it would seem. (the ones on the left)

But I am having a great time.

Well, things are moving along somewhat but nothing will change much until it's time to set my plants outdoors.

First it was the late spring now it would appear that summer has decided to be late as well. Enven though I have planned on setting my plants out until the first week of June it would be nice to have warmer nights a bit before hand but with the night temperatures predicted to drop near freezing again by the end of the week there is not much else to do but wait, wait again.

In more than one way it's probably the way it was meant to be for me. I have not done much in the way of scouting last summer and last fall so that as the snow melted I was moving into a new area for growing with all the work remaining to be done!

So I do need to time to set myself up and yes, it's taking a bit longer to move along than I expected. Native soil is a lot of work to amend and prep and swamp tubes are much faster but I still have to carry the stuff in.

As a result the all set to go tally for grown spots stands at eight spots. That would be multiple beds and self watering set ups at eight locations. So, it's moving along but I confess it won't feel I am really in business until the little guys (or girls hopefully) start growing in their outdoor environment.

A few photos:

All the same after a while!!!!!

One thing for sure: the boys and girls are growing. Enough that it would be time to free them and set them out!!!!
