The Mos Cutty Project: Constructs of a Ganja Farmer II

M

Mos Cutty

Greetings all,
I’m a Medical patient and farmer from the Midwest; this journal will serve as a base camp for me to work through current ideas. My background is in the creative arts; I have been working on projects that apply principles of aesthetic theory to the process of Cannabis cultivation and breeding. It seems a bit daunting to try and explain this theory in a few sentences, however I will do my best to share some of these concept as we move forward.
My approach is not filled with how to information, nor do I claim to be a master of any sorts. I’m just a guy that is comfortable with his skill level and seeks to expand knowledge via observation.
Things are pretty stressful in my life at the moment as my family is looking for new housing and haven’t had much luck. Conventional wisdom says I shouldn’t be firing up a journal in a middle of a non-planned move that could sit me on the sidelines. However I have no plans on quitting my gig so I feel it best to keep on working and show what I’m growing. At some point we’ll see a setup of a new Lab as the current one is being torn down.
I’m a huge music fan, so we will always have tunes on this journey. Please feel free to pull up a chair, chill out and burn one, pictures and comments are always welcome.

Videos works in progress

Like I said I’m a music lover, I have been playing with video narratives over the past year while teaching myself the associated technology. I still have a bit to learn but I’m getting better. I’ve down 5 videos total, 3 are being re-edited and are not viewable, but here are the remaining two.

Line Blends Project

Line Blends Project

Over the past year I've been working with a few peeps on a project called line blends. 50 Seeds and Lalandia were big helps on this project. The goal was to take US clone only plants and mix them up with Haze hybrids to create plants with contemporary bag appeal with old school highs focusing on enhancing CBD/CBN's. I also wanted to contain the flowering time of the haze plants.

The selections from 50 Seeds have been dubbed the "Am-Core" line. About the Lavender Am-Core (Male)

The stock that created the stud is Soma’s Lavender x Amnesia “Core” cut x Super Silver Haze (original Neville stock)
Thanks again 50.:thank you:

OF my brotha, I asked you several times about that male. I told you how great he looked, but remember what you said about the Blockhead line? Hence the reason I only made one cross with him. I could kick my own ass, he's gone, but the good news is I have more beans, you wanna find him?

Sorry for the power posting guys we can only post like 5 pics at a time and I'm trying to lay the ground work on what I'm up too, bare with me.

Best,
Mos:tiphat:

PM Dawn

PM Dawn

I came across a clone awhile back called Purple Monkey Balls, this very Kush leaning plant has one of the most "grape"profiles I found in a plant. In veg she looks very similar to Pre'98 and SFV in veg, not a huge yielder but very dense and grape! Here is the pic I took when I acquired the PMB plant. I am unsure if it is in fact a pheno of Hindu Death Cabbage of the same name.

I will look around for my pics of PMB or Karmic Farmer can chime in as he holds this plant for me.

The cross I made with her PM Dawn has been showing two distinct phenotypes. The "Trappers Kush" pheno and the "Grape Monkey" pheno.

Here is the Trappers Kush pheno, this girl looks like the mom with more lavender flavors.

Here is the "Grape Monkey" pheno, this plant is as grape as they come. Grape Haze all the way! I'm very proud of this pheno.

That’s right OF, I forgot about you aero-cloning nightmares, no worries we’ll get you sorted out.
KF, you bring up some important thoughts on identifying a strain. In my experience some of the best cuts have come for sources that were lacking knowledge on what they really have. As you mentioned with the PMB clone, the grape terpene gives it away as not being a pure Deep Chunk. It also doesn’t have the amount of foliage and trich production as images of the Hindu Death Cabbage that I’ve seen. However as you suggested PMB is a very well bred plant, with a Kush profile. This is where aesthetics theory is useful, in determining the linage of plant. We can get closer to the truth via observation overtime, following the visual clues, and using senses of taste and smell, my best guess on the PMB’s make up is Mendo Purps x Deep Chunk.

Here is a pick of her in veg; you can see the association I was making to other Kush varieties.

This is a good time to start talking about these ideas of Aesthetic Theory and its’ relation to ganja farming. Here is some writing I did awhile back on this topic.
The lenses in which we view objects are based on our personal experiences as well as our collective conscious. I am intrigued by collective taste and our personal response to what the collective or society deems important.

Aesthetics concepts of contemplation of beauty and nature lend themselves very nicely to selection of productive genetics that have the desired affects.

After all, often we do not experience finished medication when we formulate our opinions of a particular strain. We tend to look for visual clues as to the value of the genetics in question.

Imagery has become as important or perhaps more important then the object itself, text itself being apart of imagery.

Aesthetics is defined:

http://en.wikipedia....wiki/Aesthetics

Aesthetics (also spelled æsthetics or esthetics) is a branch of philosophy dealing with the nature of beauty, art, and taste, and with the creation and appreciation of beauty.[1] It is more scientifically defined as the study of sensory or sensori-emotional values, sometimes called judgments of sentiment and taste.[2] More broadly, scholars in the field define aesthetics as "critical reflection on art, culture and nature."[3][4]

The concept of Aesthetics has been with me for a while but in recent years applied to farming. Critical reflection on art, culture and nature are of utmost importance in my personal understanding of the world.

The plants I am drawn too are aesthetically pleasing and invite questions of origin and intent. Some are without contamination of modern man. Others are filled with Mythos (I’ll get to that later.) My selection process is never hindered by “hype” or “elite” status, although genetic make-up is import and a basis for selecting a proper mother.

best,
Mos:thank you:

So, are aesthetics part of connoisseurship, or is connoisseurism part of aestheticism? (or are they just the same thing?)
