Quantum Tower LED PC case: 46w of SDOG

They're 5-6 inches from the light. I'm toying with the idea of moving them 1-2" closer just to get some extra intensity as they fatten up. I'm thinking of inserting magazines or small books underneath the pots and moving the scrog screen up little by little, sliding it along with the magnets, slowly raising the plants without damaging any budsites.

Some shots from this morning:

hempfield... they sure do :tiphat:

As if I haven't given you enough photos, here are a couple more, with some notes as they are starting to develop their own look and smells.

Pheno 1:

Stout, thick stems, vigorous in veg, stretched very little (1-3") in flower. Large, dense bud structure, not much popcorn below. Smells of bright, candied sour citrus, hint of skunk. Started yellowing ~30 days 12/12, most likely due to N deficiency during stretch. Topdressed with blood meal, foliar feeding to slow it down.

Pheno 2:

Small, spindly in veg, matured quite a bit in flower (4-5" stretch) to a beauty. Large top buds (larger than pheno 1) with smaller buds below. Smell is of sweet fermented fruit with a strong lavender floral note. Absolutely intoxicating. She is my favorite (shhh don't tell her sister!!)

I was reading up on cannabis senescence (aging) last night, and it seems that once the yellowing starts there is little you can do to stop it. It has to do with the plant storing N during stretch, and the root system becoming much less efficient at delivering it once the deficiency occurs. That is probably what happened as she is in the smaller pot with less available nutes. Hopefully I can continue to head it off with foliar feeding.

trem, beautiful girls you got there. The PC is one kick ass build man. I wish I had the skills to build a DIY panel such as yours.

In regard to the yellowing, top dress with some quality EWC/vermicompost and that should carry you through and then some.

cl0ud, thanks, and I'll throw some EWC on top just because it's what plants crave :D

If you're into building an LED light, it's not too difficult. Learning to solder was the hardest part. Go read knna's thread over at SeedMine for a good crash course. You don't need to digest it all at once.

And now I see that Rapid LED has really cool DIY kits. They look perfect for a PC case, all you stealth growers (hint hint...)

So I moved them about 2" closer to the light by wedging some CD cases under the pots and bumping up the scrog along the magnets. This should be fine until harvest, of course I can remove a few if needed.

Now I don't know what to do except stare at the plants, top off the reservoir and give them a bit of fish ferts every few days. I'm feeding Neptunes' Harvest and molasses, as seen below. I just drop a drop or three into the sprayer, give it a good shake and lightly spray the top soil and bottom leaves. I'd put it into the reservoir directly, but I'm afraid I'd have a stinky algae colony in no time.

I wish they'd hurry up and finish already! I handled this citrusy pheno a bit while adjusting the screen and my fingers were wet with resin!! And that two-headed cola is a beast, it's the tallest but extends a few inches below the screen too.

Awesome trem, looks like a snowstorm hit those girls - frostier than the snowman, man.

Have the blumat jrs been serving you well so far? I'm thinking about ordering some.

Thanks man, I'm excited to see what kind of variation these F2s will give me. The original parents of the F1s I grew are a SD IBL female from Rez, circa 2007, and a OGbx1 by Sugenite, Ghost cut I believe.

These are both very sweet, sour and floral smelling, maybe pulling from the SD side. The F1 mother was lemony and skunky/funky but not sour, and most definitely from the OG side with a devastating couchlock. The father was a lanky guy with thinner leaves and sparse pollen sacks... maybe a sativa SD pheno. He didn't stick around long enough to fully mature.

The blumats are working great, I highly recommend them for small grows.

Seeing builds like this one make me believe I could do this. All the pc case micros are amazing but this one.... this one is truly impressive!

looks good trem.

it looks like there is a bit more potential for vertical growth for your next grow.

a small stealth speaker for veg will surely compliment this pc :)

@cloud: sort of, it's a small plastic ring that came with the ducting that tightens with a tiny screw. I cut a hole in the bottom of the larger pencil cup slightly smaller than the diameter of the ring (the smaller cup sits upside-down in it) and glued it tight. I sealed up both ends with lots of black silicone caulk.

@Sykk: if you can think of it, you can do it. The LED frees up so much overhead space compared to other lighting it's amazing, it only drops down 2" from the top of the case. And the heat is totally manageable.

@DeftoneSmoker: Thanks man, I went to a Deftones concert a long time ago in high school!

@45 king: no problem, you can see they're starting to swell up!!

@lunatick: absofruitly, I'd move them even closer to the light but the ducting is already tight against one of the pots, preventing me. Next time. Also I'm way ahead of you, already working on the veg/mother box.

I couldn't justify having another PC at my desk, so I sacrificed my RAID controller to the cause. It's about 7x9x10".

I gutted it yesterday.

And here is the heatsink for the new LEDs (90x90mm), the front door loaded with carbon pads (for light trap and intake) and the back panel with 140mm fan. I have a cool idea for a carbon scrubber using a fan filter mounting kit.

We will not need much light, maybe 1 blue, 2 red and 1 warm white LED running at 350-500mA.
