GCG and Boobs's 2012 NorCal Organic Outdoor: The Foothill Fetish

Do you guys have any issues using blood/bone meal? I've heard people complain about outdoor use and animals digging. I've a large patch of nutrient depleted garden(recovering from years of roundup-soy-roundup-corn-roundup-soy-roundup-corn) and am planning on turning some in. The only locals we have to worry about are raccoons and foxes, and I can't imagine either of them wandering into my garden for the sake of digging some blood meal, but yaneverknow.
I've had real problems with raccoons if I use stuff like that in an unfenced area. Did it last year with a new corn bed, got it amended and planted, then the little fuckers dug it up. I used dry fish hydrosylate, didn't think it would cause a problem but they dug through. Didn't take much of the planted corn, and I thought they would.

I have a dog and she's pretty much useless unless they come near the cats.

Boobs, be sure to post up microscopy pix! I have a scope but need an adapter to show pix.

If you have Deer or raccoon problems grab some stuff called " Liquid Fence" we have HUGE deer problems Andre they smell that mountain lion piss in a squirt bottle they beat feet outta your area....just an FYI but you, probably already know about this stuff....love this thread!:dance013:

I resorted to tall fencing after liquid fence seemed to be part of my local deers diet. I'm sure it detours them sometimes, but a hungry deer, is hard to stop. Especially in mid july when everything has dried up and the bitter tasting buds haven't formed yet.

Glad you are enjoying the thread. :thank you:

It's funny, while I was reading those posts about deer I was thinking... hmm, I haven't seen any deer around my house. Next morning, what do you know, a big ol' herd of them in my front yard.

I also had a couple of turkeys in my backyard last night, which is not unusual at all, but my dog got very close to catching one this time. Turkey got so scared flew right into my fence losing a couple of feathers and effectively ripping the fencing off of the t-post. Easy fix though, it was kind of funny too

I hope everyone's been making lots of progress lately and enjoying the weather, our tea situation is coming together as are other preparatory things. :yay:

We didn't end up taking that trip up north the past weekend, but we have acquired some pretty exciting things despite. I also got the microscope I mentioned, it is very cool. The blank slides are arriving tomorrow. I started up a tea a few hours ago and will plan to post some pictures and maybe even video clips tomorrow, as I found out the digital imaging software has that capability. :woohoo:

A couple of days ago we had the pleasure of meeting up with the head honcho of Ganja Rebel Seeds.

We are now germinating the following: DSD F2, DSD x OG/ChemD, Blue Dream x OG/ChemD, Green Crack x 5G and the 5G Yellow. :thank you:

We also now have clones of: The White, Ghost OG, True OG and GS Cookies.

Something strange is happening with a few plants though...here is the thread I made in the infirmary.

our acquisition, and development, of these great genetics is a testament to the genuine kindness of this community and this special plant's desire to perpetuate itself, I believe.

:thank you:

okay so all that stuff came in the mail today, I got home a couple hours ago all excited to observe the tea...apparently, however, it was a lot warmer outside today than I'd anticapted  the temperature inside the tank was over one hundred degrees Fahrenheit! it was steaming

I'll make up another one in the next couple days and move it out of direct sunlight

here's a video:

Oh, update on those sick clones... we're going to apply some mycostop tonight probably. :comfort:

Someone has asked me which model microscope I have, I would send them a PM but I'm not sure who asked me :biglaugh:

Anyways, the brand is AmScope...my particular model is capable of 40x-1000x magnification and it also came with the digital imager from Amazon.com.

It is a good value considering I only paid around $130 total, the only problem I have with it so far is it does not have a mechanical stage. I hadn't even considered checking whether or not it had one when I bought it because I've never used one in the past that didn't have one.

Hope that helps. :tiphat:

Found a great spot by a local river to harvest lady bugs from and introduce to our gardens.

The SourD had one cold night that i wasn't able to cover it for and it suffered a week of no growth. Now it's back and doing excellent. :woohoo:

The clones in the greenhouse are starting to grow now that the fresh soil has "cooled" down.

:thank you:

How many watts is that cfl in the picture? I need to get one so I can put my girls outside and give them a bit of light a night so they don't flower early.

Hey Manivelle, all the video links I've put up I removed the tags from so they should all work now. :huggg:

I'll be taking a lot more videos of teas here in the next couple of days trying to find that goldy locks zone. The reason I haven't yet is I've been busy doing some other things.

The Fire OG is now in a couple thousand gallon mound, as is the Sensi Star.

[pic removed]

I went and got some stuff from town today and rigged up this system for brewing, I hope it's sufficient aeration.

:woohoo:

The pump I am using in that system I will also be able to use to boost my water from my tanks because I'm not really satisfied with the pressure from gravity alone.

:tiphat:
