LARGEST Calyx's ?

G

Hi all,

I was just reading a listing of Mosca Negra Old Time Arcata Trainwreck, and i noticed that he said that Trainwreck has very small but tightly packed calyx's.

Which made me laugh a bit, because i also saw a video from Greenhouse seeds, where they say that Trainwreck has the biggest calyx's in the world. :biglaugh:

I don't know who is right, but i just wanted to find out which strains other people have grown or seen which have VERY LARGE calyx's.

Any suggestions? :dunno:

Thanks. :thank you:

Mosca is right. Small calyx for sure. At least in my experience.

Chem Sour D had some huge ones as well as some Afghan I have grown. Oddly enough i found that growing conditions played a large part in these larger calyxes.

Peace

Mosca is 100% right and GHS is 100% wrong as usual. GHS TW has no TW in it. Mosca has the real deal I have cross of his call Machacar in which the female pollinated was the real deal TW cut and since seed physiology is maternal you can tell it is the real deal just by how tiny the seeds are. They are extremely small just like the TW's calyxes.

Thanks 40Amps', i'm not really looking for who was correct about Trainwreck, but hoping to hear about any experiences of large calyx strains.

The plant that Greenhouse 'calls' Trainwreck definately has big calyx's, but i don't know if i'd say the biggest in the world?

THE TROOPER

i know they have the biggest heads in the seed world.....all the doorways have been enlarged to handicap width at greenhouse seeds!

Black haze is a local strain in south Florida. When those buds are left long enough to fully mature the buds spring out little fox tails that are nothing but large, dark , crystaly covered calyx's. Very nice and unique.

Sour Diesel IBL seemed to have some pretty large calyxes. I crossed a female SD with Senor Garcia and got a large calyx polyhybrid.

well Greenhouse wasnt all wrong wen they said that trainwreck was one of the biggest largest calyx´s out there, but they were talking about their version of trainwreck, that it as nothing to do with the original clone, must be some misslabled stuff, or they got scammed, either way, if you remember FiveLeggedGoat had a great thread (https://www.icmag.com/ic/showthread.php?t=92384&pp=15) showing of its dank ass nuggz of this strain, im not a GHS fanboy, matter of fact i had nothing but bad experience from them, but hey the pics speak for themselves, take a look.

always surprised at the hate for greenhouse. ive grown ghs trainwreck and real deal trainwreck and they were almost identical in every way. my ghs wreck had MASSIVE calyx. ive grown lemon skunk, trainwreck, strawberry haze and several other ghs strains and always had incredible results. with the exception of moscas c99 all other seeds from mosca were shit. none of my otm x urkle seeds even cracked. biggest waste of money ever.

I find that all strains will get some pretty big calyxes if you feed it just right at the right times. If you give it too much N it will stretch them out, and too much Phosphorous will stunt them. You never want to apply an extra phos additive like phospoload, or big bud, after day 14 for 90 percent of strains or you will stunt your buds.

Large bracts vs a tendency towards a high percentage of fused calyx often goes undifferentiated. A lot of cannabis from Africa and SE Asia have very large bracts ime - this seems to be unrelated to seed size however. Haze has large bracts but small seed, while many plants from Afghanistan have smaller bracts but very large seed - the bracts simply split open/unravel some to accommodate seed during maturation. -T
