Can your mobile phone be traced even if its off?

I don't think so but anything's possible, I keep mine off 100% of the time until I'm ready to dial out, I prefer to limit 'their' options when I can.
my understanding is that it can be tracked when on even if you're not talking on it.
the newer the phone the more sophisticated it is right out of the box.
I really hate these phones never use them ..lol .. PPL have been giving them to me.. I found a bunch of them in our woods were we walk all broken up and they did look new so I would assume they can be tracked..,, There is GPS locators in the Iphones as far as I know and they can ping the towers for your nearest location.. ,, But I have heard if they have the locator on them yes..headband 707
dude, to be honest,... if you have to think bout this kind of things you ARE doing some shite the wrong way... basically, if you are being observed, it means, some type of leads are leading towards your direction -> you made some major mistakes in the past + there must be some major $ involved, to even get to the point where po po would "gps" track you... why not step back, hit your head against the wall and ask yourself:"is this the right kind of lifestyle for me?"!
cause major targets would have many options of communication to avoid such "hassles" as in: burner phones, uplink stations, vpn tunnels, proxy forwarding, ... etc... or is you shomoking that yummybud again

If the battery is still in it, why not? Even then, most phones have low amounts of electrical current buzzing through them while the battery is out. Safest bet is your very own Faraday cage.

I belive good ol uncle sammie has everything tapped that can be, and it works off of key words, and such. I mean EVERYTHING! ON OR OFF.... they have back doors to microsoft and apple. They can hack any site..... to belive otherwise is naive.

Stay away from the smart phones ... I use old tech no GPS..If they wanted to track me the closest they could get is the nearest cell tower.. LOL at faraday cage.. If the battery is out the only power that is left if any would be in the caps that are in cells. these will discharge over time when left off. Turn them on and they charge up extremely fast
It is my understanding that phones can be turned on remotely. If it's on, they can listen in at any time. You'll want to pull the battery out of it to be sure. They can also ping it to see which towers it bounces off of, which will give them a pretty good idea of where you're at.
Besides this, they can put gps trackers on your car, and much more.

and of course, if youre being observed, and you "regularly" take out the battery and leave the "bios styled battery" to dry out, just so you can power up the phone and ring up some other flagged phone #, it will look perfectly legit??? i mean wtf fambz? where did the good ole days them gone? Not only can it be traced, you can also be listened to as well. The only to disable it is to remove the battery.
phones have a back up battery (built in) that is only supposed to be for keeping the phone from losing info like what time it is which is why you can take the battery out and it has kept the time,, this back up battery has many days worth of stored power and the sim card can be accessed when the phone is off because of this,,
the sim and basic circuitry only uses a few milli amps so it can be accessed over and over over a long period as well for say gps information,,
to prevent something like this you would need a faraday cage,, a small one, possibly a microwave would have effective enough insulation,,
and just dont use smart phones,, you dont own the sim card either,,

I own a few Sim cards.. My none smart phone I can buy blank Sim cards for it on eBay.. When I need to use one I call my cell carrier and they activate it for a fee.. You would need to be very paranoid to make a faraday cage for your cell phone..

Can u be too cairfull? I'm thinkin if a person changes sim cards and phone number exc.... that's a flag for me... ill keep my smartphone and act like the millions with one, nothin too suspecious for me.

i dont have anything to be that paranoid about,, was just working in theoretics,,
i agree that anyone that stressed about growing dope just shouldnt,, its often paranoid behaviour that gets people caught because they arent thinking straight,,

USE A PAYPHONE? wipe pinky print off coin or use phone/credit card. big buck op - buy a satelite phone! using them for years.
walkie talkies have major distance now and CB radio's dont allow tracking - frequencies can be in 1/10,000 of a point range.
worked for major hotel one winter and phone system could track cellphones in 2500 meter distance; number then fine tune for voice and text. 20 years ago.
