I grew out Tangerine dream and G13 X Hawaiian and found them to be not up to my standards in taste or high. I prefer company's like Ace,Bogg,Mosca and Subcool for my needs

About 3 years ago, I bought 30 LSD beans and I was disappointed with majority of them...but happy with just one out of the 30. The disappointment was 29 of the beans did not produce the great earthy-chestnutty-spicey-citrus indica...like the prior LSD beans--boo hoo! Produced something else--but not the old LSD I wanted.

The Happy was with one bean obviously WAS NOT an indica...but a super sativa (maybe an earlier version of the Liberty Haze--dunno). I renamed that pheno, "LSD If six was nine"...or "LSD 69" for short. My thinking is--someone at Barneys screwed up and wrote the wrong number and mistakenly included the super sativa bean with the LSD beans (and being a fan of Jimi...maybe someone wrote six and someone else thought it was nine...don't know, but I did not want to confuse people by calling it LSD).

So...would I buy Barney's bean again, probably not; not happy with their lack of consistency.

Cheers!

I thought it was that their Blueberry wasn't related to the real Blueberry. That whole Blueberry thing always confuses me though.

GetUp, I don't seem to understand what you're trying to say, sorry! :tiphat:

Ive grow a few barney farm strains.

g13 haze- nice heavy donkey dick buds, decent smoke but didn't have too much of a taste for a haze. Didn't find anything worth keeping out of the 10 pack.

vanilla kush- very nice stuff but nothing like a usa kush. Taste like vanilla for sure. I liked this strain alot and regret not keeping the best pheno outa the 10. She was stellar.... god damn f'ing mites...

violator kush- may do better outdoors but I did not like this strain at all. Had one that herm'd and all of them tasted like shit. When dry one pheno smelled like dead fish, so bad I just gave it away. Big yielder though.

I have a pineapple chunk free-b, chopped and drying now.
Grown outdoors, 8wks flo, some budrot, big chunky chemD-like nugs, smell is average-musky.
Good trich coverage & vigorous.
I wouldnt count on my experience tho, with some companies I think seedstock may vary;)

Just for the record... Liberty haze is a complete marketing scam. It is not a new strain. If it was going to be released in seed form before it won the cup last year, which I doubt it was, what won the cup isn't what was going to be released. The liberty haze given to HT judges and sold at barney's during the cup was just a very very good batch of amnesia haze grown by a master grower and purchased for the cup. I won't say who the grower was, but he is very famous.

That being said, barney's coffee shop had the best consistent quality herb in the dam. I really enjoyed their hybrid entry sour power. And I smoked some great tangerine dream from there the last day I was in town.

Seeds I have seen friend's grow here have all been sub par though. Have seen a few good LSD cuts in the dispensaries though.

barney's lsd is some of my favorite smoke. the flavor and smell have such complexity to it. and as it cures the smell and flavor changes a lot. to me it smells a lot like jack herrer and a little bit like trainwreck. it's got a really great psychedelic high to it. very creative and good head high but also good body effects.

Grinspoon, which Barney's renamed from another variety grown in A-Dam, either the Quasar sativa or Reeferman's mix of Panama RedxPurple Thai. I'd still like to see more hands on info about it. It's impossible to find any grows here.

I have done Honey B, Red Diesel, Laughing Buddha, Utopia Haze, Vanilla Kush, Violator Kush and LSD all by barneys..

Honey B I had 3 pheno's and 1 pheno turned out to be amazing. Smelled and tasted exactly like the infamous durban clone, and had a huge yield... Was a favorite by patients in 2009

Red Diesel was disappointing.. Bud quality was good but 0% diesel.. 8/10 for smell, appearance, taste, and high

Laughing Buddha was 9/10 for smell and taste, 8/10 for trich production, 8.5/10 overall.. While very unique, all pheno's were very very sensitive.. Easiest crop out of 20 strains I was growing at the time to nute burn..

Utopia haze was again unique, but nothing to brag about. Took forever to grow, very light sensitive, smell and taste were ok.. the high was def sativa (ill give them that) and pretty clearheaded

Vanilla Kush is the best connoisseur quality Barneys strain I have done.. It had a overwhelming smell of Vanilla concentrate / REAL VANILLA, with undertones of kush. Taste was a 10, trich production = 9, smell was amazing, super super potent..

Violator Kush was nothing special.. Did not move quickly w/ the patients

LSD - amazing smell of greenapple, and trich production was a 10, but yield was extreamly low.. I later popped more seeds of LSD and found some higher yielders..

So overall I give Barneys a 7.5/10.. These days I ditched every barneys strain I had and do not look back. Barneys was fun but nothing elite. I think that there are several companies on SB that charge the same price as barneys, but every pheno of every strain will be 10/10.. Now I only do elite clone only's, grindhouse and connoisseur genetics (and the occasional dutchgrown)

As far as the awards go, supposedly those awards are more political then one could imagine, so dont pay attention to HT awards..

Thank you for that report deadheadies. It is quite informative.

Cant use cup wins? Cant use high times endorsements? Its so hard to find the kind of real information that deadheadies has provided above. Anectodotal reports vary so. For example, deadheadies said his customers didnt buy the Violater Kush, yet the grow report here at IC and another grower i spoke to, have mothers and act like its the holy grail

Much of the praise you hear for strains is actually the result of celebrity and groupie shit. Dutchgrown or shanti could put rat turds in a bag and a large group of growers would piss on themselves espousing its fine qualities.

I was splitting chromosomes in cannabis in 1970, so im not impressed with supposed breeding expertise like shanti or DJ. Its just so hard. Ive bought 10 packs of seed every year since 99 from shanti to Nirvana and 95% have been mediocre. Yes, there might be a pheno but in my view if you buy a 10 pack of seeds there should be 2 or 3 top quality plants in the group. Not just one

grow report to follow, both from seed and clone, plant is somewhat delicate to grow takes experience, has low tolerance's:tumbleweed:

B

Bourach

I've grown
Violator Kush:bland tasting, weak high, uniform plants
Morning Glory: all very smelly, really liked the high, lots of variation
G13xHaze: What a joke, flowered for 16 weeks and there was NO high from these, huge variation in plant structure
Crimea Blue: Weak horrible plants, very earthy taste, boring high, very poor genetics( reoccurring theme here)
Pineapple Chunk: crap plants, lots of freakish growth, lots of hermi's, never even let them finish, chopped them at week 6 1/2 flower and bubbled them

Only var from Barneys I have liked is Blue Cheese, takes a lot of searching to get a good pheno but its worth going through a couple of packs, really flavoursome, stinky, heady high buds.

After my experience with the G13xHaze and Pineapple Chunk I've swore I'll never grow from their stock again. Poor breeding and money grabbing ethics.

The pictures at the start of this thread made me laugh, thanks for posting:laughing:
