Well, I finally finished reading this epic thread. I've been shopping around for a new sativa for the stable, I think I've found it here. Are the current seeds still bred primarily for the red pheno? I'd probably be looking for a green from the descriptions, based on my preferences. I've got a nice Jamaican strain I may cross it with, but I'm unsure of its progeny...

Panama

The Panama was a real success last year. It was very very strong, had a wonderful flavor, and was very popular with all my friends.

I pollenated her with select males from my own crosses and am growing those this year. One Im real excited about is Panama x ( Orange Crush x Salmon creek x Old Lavender x LS1 Blue Kush) The new cross is looking great so far.

I took Her down on 10-26-12.. I highly recommend growing this plant. When so many seed companies put out sub par seeds, this was a refreshing change! Great quality!

Crosses made with Panama

Crosses made with Panama

Here are some seedlings today. There mother was the Panama pictures last page. The Panama female pictured was cloned and now is in the mother closet.Their father was (Orange Crush X Salmon Creek Big Bud X Old Lavender X LS1 Blue Kush) I called the father Blue Crush Pack 590. Those genetics came via seed from Humboldt years ago. They were a gift to my son. We have worked with them all these years. It should make a mighty fine Panama Blue.....

Budding time

Budding time

It was budding already by 8-27-11 and I took it down 10-26-11. Im thinking it must have gone 10 weeks maybe 11 tops.

The high was uplifting and strong, and enough to make you see things you dont normally see. Enough to give you a white out with a good bong hit. The flavor was sweet and exotic. Very nice. There was not much expansion on the hit.

Welcome Wolverine 97,

The standard panama is more open line and the green phenos are more frequent. The feminized version was bred towards the red phenos. So if you prefer the green one then i'd recommend you to start a standard pack.

Panama x a good jamaican will produce a very high yielding sativa, i think it could be a very interesting cross!

Thanks dubi, that's what I'll go with then. I've never crossed this Jamaican with anything, it's very very sativa in it's growth pattern, really it reminds me of Colombian Red more than anything when comparing pics. We'll see how she does.

I've got 3 of these (standard) that just popped in my greenhouse. I'm at 13n at we're pretty much at our longest days (12.5 hours) and will slowly start going down. Have to keep them small for security purposes, but I'm hoping that the earlier Panama in the genetics and my 12/12 year-round climate will help them stay small. I'm guessing they'd probably hit 1.5 meters untopped, so I'll probably top at the 3rd node and then possibly prune the branches I get from that. By then, I'm assuming they'll probably be starting to stretch/flower and I'll get several small branches of buds.

I re-read through this thread today and it looks like they'll still get decent size if done 12/12 from seed. Anyone done these in the tropics? If so, how was the size?

12*N here and my Panamas finished just under six feet. Untopped with four weeks veg in cloudy, rainy weather. Started flower 1st November (start of dry season) and the stretch stopped around mid-December.

They were cut after 75 days of clear blue skies and intense UV. Perfecto...

Rabid: that's exactly what I was wanting to know. Thanks! Sounds like they still get big. Looks like I'll be visiting the guerrilla spot.

You could probably keep them under 1.5 meters but it would entail lots of pruning and (in my opinion) would detract from the quality. If you have the sunshine use it to the max.

Just my :2cents:

hi dubi!

i appreciate your great work! superb!

i have a question:
do you think it is possible to finish a panama at 48° N by forcing them to flower by darkening and still get decent results?
i got mine in 12l air-pots. they also have full sunshine (if shining) til 4 pm.

greetz from the north!

Panama outdoor

Panama outdoor

My outdoor Panama was over 3 meters tall (9 feet)and she was in part shade. I would think it could hit 12 foot easy in full sun. It smokes sweet as tropical nectar :ying:

hi doc!

but i guess you did not grow her at 48° N, did you?
also you propably did not use containers like me. i have the 2 girls in 12 ltr air-pots.

the question is: will there be a decent yield growing panamas so far north? or is the climate going to be a problem?

so you were happy with your panamas? how would you describe the buzz? x/10?

best regards!
