wicked lasers makes a 1500mw laser that will blind that fucker in less then 2 seconds. if of course your spot is guerilla and you dont mind attempting to take a chopper down lol
Depends on the size of your grow?? and are you city town or countryside?
Anything in a tent in a typical bedroom for example I wouldn't worry, unless you're venting directly out the window, which would look odd.
They used to fly over daily here, not as much thesedays due to cutbacks I reckon.
An annoyance for sure, used to sound like they were right on top of our house sometimes, but used to it now.

i have helis pass me a few times daily it takes less than a minute or two for them to pass audibly
30 minutes is a long time to travel past a neighborhood

Need further details from the OP to give fair advice.
Obviously if he lives in the middle of nowhere and there are two or 3 houses down a little lane.. then yes be worried.
If he lives in a city with rows upon rows of houses.. then it could just be parranoia. To be honest I never ever noticed the choppers noise or their frequency when i wasn't growing..
I ask my friends on the next street..Q: 'doesn't the police helicopter piss you off' A: Never noticed it.
They do a circle here sometimes where you will see it going round for half an hour or so.
The one time it was dead above a house for what seemed like a few hours one day, it turned out it was a grow house they busted ran by some vietnamese.

far more likely to be looking for some idiot that stole a car or something,,

The chopper's never out of the sky around my way, look up you local news to see if anything is going on in your area, it might be a security alert most likely it's something totally unrelated to you. If they are looking at you in particular then they must be working on some kind of information.

i worried as fuck now, destroyed all cuttings and stripped loft area out, although i have far to much equipment,
hopefully morning nothing has happened and i can consider culling my 17 plants 4 weeks into flower, its a bummer but i rather have my liberty, fingers crossed nothing further comes of it but it not common to have chopper out here an i did go out after if fucked off to see if anything around but no police cars or shit so it was a warning.....

Don't do anything to hasty it sounds very unlikely a helicopter would take half an hour to check for heat signatures. More likely looking for somebody in the gardens try asking the neighbours if they know if anythings gone on. Another possibility is that there using scare tactics.
You wouldn't lose your freedom for 17 plants anyways. I'd defo try speaking to your neighbours and try and pick up on their vibes peoples body language can tell you a lot.

well thank fuck didnt get the knock, here small town ,
i got x4 600w going 2 cool tubes into my insulated loft and the CB filter along with other 2 heat going out hole in chinmey,
problem is i have a bare brick wall uninsulated which is the side the copter was at.
I am gutted the cuttings were very healthy and my first 100% success ......

heat wise the infrared would show up anomalies everywhere,, but with 4 600s you are making alot of heat,,
still its really unlikely they were looking at you,, choppers would only get used on really big grows with like 10-100 lights running,,
and they probably wouldnt take such a blatent route of observation imo unless they had already scouted you out,, personally i think they just use them to intimidate people in general

Sort out your loft area for peace of mind, if you're going to grow up there, insulate everything as best as you can, don't scrimp on that. Try and build a room within the room if you can.
Also think about venting internally inside your house if you can?, obviously when it's cold having heat come from your chimney is normal but in summer could look dodgy?

Standard surveillance mode puts the nose into the prevailing wind , 200 m height and a 1000 m from target.
The camera pods swivel and the direction of flight is not nescesarilly where the camera is looking.
Given the huge running costs they are not going to waste half an hour watching you , when an un noticed flyover would achieve the same , or a handheld flir like west mids now have.

its good to be careful, and a little paranoia can be a good thing.... but its very unlikely they were watching you. check all the local news websites etc to see if you can find out what was going on, or even chat in the local shop or something.
if you are venting into the chimney stack then you should be ok. they tend to only do IR in densely populated areas that are rife with grows..
