I had kidneystones twice when I was in my 30's.The 2nd time I had kidneystones they were surgically pulverised(lithotripsy). My stone was 10mm and thank God it passed as sand-like particles in my stream over a 3 day period. Not much pain at all.

The 1st time I wasn't so lucky....I'll continue with the story if you like.....I will go as far as saying I passed it on my own without a urologists intervention.

I have heard about drinking a 6 pack of coke to dissolve kidney stones. In that case I would think the cure would be worse than the disease. I have heard great things about drinking lemon juice and olive oil. Here is a link to a lot of anecdotal reviews about using lemon juice and olive oil. Good luck with the stones. Let us know how it goes!

Good info man, I just googled kidney stone home remedies and found the same solution; lemon juice and olive oil. Just drank 5 tablespoons of each fallowed by a big glass of water... hope this shit gets over with soon...

got hash oil? decarboxylate and combine with olive oil, cinnamon leaf , bark and myrrh essential oils to form holy anointing oil and ingest. check out holy anointing oil or holy shit. just replace the coconut oil with olive as in the bible. that should help the passing and the pain. give a pm if interested.

Yes! Mine were previously caused by hyperparathyroidism, which was caused by a tumor of the parathyroid, which was removed near the end of '07.

And I have methods to help control formation of the stones. Hopefully they're calcium oxalate, which is the most common type of stone.

Two main things to do here: Drink LARGE quantities of acidulated water. You need to use fresh citrus, it has clinically shown the very best results in helping dissolve calculi in the kidneys. Doesn't take much, maybe 1t-1T of juice/8oz glass of water. I was taught this by a dietitian (my own mother), and it's clinically proven. DO IT, and don't fuck around with bottled lemon juice or other simply sour things. There is something about fresh citrus that does the best job of breaking up calculi.

Then, you'll need to eliminate oxalic acid sources from your diet. This is the hard part, at least, it was for me. That means eliminating dark green leafy vegetables, legumes, eggplant, asparagus, coffee, tea--the list is LENGTHY and comprised much of foods that are healthy for you otherwise.

This should help you get started.

As mentioned previously, I had a tumor of the parathyroid that was causing extremely high blood Ca levels, and that combined with my love of foods high in oxalates led to my first killme stone. After that, I've had more than I can count. My internist was on me hard to get the tumor removed because as she said, every time a stone is passed through the kidney, it tears it up, and I'm brought that much closer to losing the kidney and possibly needing a transplant.

There is nothing shown clinically about olive oil to make it one of the 'must haves' for a kidney stone diet. It is absolutely required, along with sufficient exercise, to help keep blood cholesterol levels balanced and in check, especially if you're on the kidney stone diet, which is really, REALLY bad if you have high cholesterol as I tend to.

Again, what has been clinically shown to be highly effective is water acidulated with FRESH citrus, lemon has shown the best results.

I don't know much about passing kidney stones, however I have heard that using lots of pepper can cause them...
So perhaps consider cutting back how much pepper you use, once you do finally pass them...
PS: Canna-Milk is tops for pain!

Good luck Mo!!

Just checking back in..seeing how you doing...hope your in a blissful state!

Lotsa water, lotsa morphine, lotsa screaming. I had 7.5mm stone stuck above bladder, had to be surgically removed. Pissed blood for a month on and off until surgery. 2 oxys every four hours for 6 weeks. My grandfather had baaad stones - Mom said he'd drape himself over side of bathtub to try and pressure them out. Lotsa booze, lotsa screaming. Mine are calcium stones. Good luck - no fun in sight for you.

no remedies, i just passed it with great pain for weeks. some of the worst times of my life.

but i do know what caused mine (calcium oxalate), so maybe i can offer a tip on preventive care. I was eating tums anti-acid tablets everyday like they were candy. with added calcium, oh and of course i was vegetarian so yep leafy greens.

good luck brother!

Sorry to hear it buddy, I'm sure you will feel pretty damn relieved once it's all over with.

I would hate to get kidney stones, already have a tolerance to opiates for chronic pain so shit like that terrifies me as I doubt I'd get enough painkillers to even touch that.

Well good luck GET MO, make sure to have those opiates handy and hopefully the advice given in this thread might ease your pain a bit. Maybe they will be small and easier to pass, I'll cross my fingers for ya.

afaia what you're looking for is citric acid. it's used in some brands of soda and not so much in others. last time i looked there was some variety of pepsi. yay huh.

as far as avoiding them in the future, one of the contributors are tannins, from tea (it's been a while since i read up on this). i haven't had any since i stopped drinking tea as my main beverage.

good luck, pee slowly, hope you've got something couchlock around :)

Yikes, another reason I'm glad I'm a woman; (the ability to pee standing up, is really the only 'man trait' I'd wish to acquire.)

So, tea ehh?? Since this my drink of choice, ("China Mist: Passion Fruit" iced tea- it's life altering-ly good!), it really bums me out to hear.

I hope this finds you doing better, Mo!
Happy Fried-day everyone! :kos:
Have a delightful and restful weekend.

Women can, and do, get kidney stones. That's why I can tell you that the pain rivals that of labor, and child birth. :)

I got another one after years being stone-free (hehheh, get it?) a little over a month ago, and it was in a completely different area than what I'm accustomed to, and felt different. This time I really thought it was my appendix, so I never took pain meds or the steps to help it pass, ended up in the ER. They scanned me, said that I had a 4mm stone (I said, Seriously? Itty bitty thing like that? Christ.) and to strain my pee so they could see what I had. I strained my pee for days, never found a stone, got pissed off and stopped straining.

Who knows what lurks in my kidneys now, but I do know this--I eat a lot of healthy vegetables and a LOT of beans and rice. And I love my husband's coffee, too. I would hate to give that up.
