hi folks

i plan to grow 1000 autos this summer.Can you please tell me which method is best to start them.
I was planed to start seeds in smal cups indoors on 18/6 light,and when achieve 15cm plant them outdoors.Is this method ok?Or soon as i set them outside they will go to flower and not get much bigger?

thanks for your answers.

I would keep them in the cups until they sex and then put them outside.

If it is a true AF strain then they are going to flower when they are ready most are ready to flower a month after popping the seed.

If you have access, I would start them in a greenhouse or a cold frame in the plastic cups. You can start indoors but they will still need an acclimation period of a week to ten days when they are moved to the outdoors to adjust to the sunlight. Sunlight is much more intense than any indoor light. Without an acclimation you will possibly stunt an autoflower which defeats the purpose. I start all my outdoor autoflowers in the greenhouse. Avoids the acclimation period which can slow them down and affect yield in the end.

From my experience with lowryder a few years ago, it's beat to start them in larger pots that you intend them to finish in. So if youre doing 4l pots outside, thats what you will want to start them in. I dont see any reason why they couldnt start inside and then be moved outdoors thoigh. Just make sure its not all at once. Couple hours the first day and then increase that by a few hours a day throughout the first few days. Good luck. sounds crazy enthusiastic!

start them in cups indoors and once you sex them, transplant them to their final homes that will be outdoors. any other way and you're just wasting valuable time.

this is ok,but hard to do with 1000 plants.

To start germinated seeds direct to the ground or smal seed trays (planters) is good idea , but soil prepered is very fertilised with N and i m afraid that will burn small seedlings.

start them in small cups, after 1 week maybe max 2 inside get them out to your growing spot/spots/field. and they will not stop growing when you getthem outside if that was what you were wondering.

Regardless of where you plant them, remember to make sure you have some kind of mulching/matting to prevent dirt from getting on the buds. AFs, particularly LRs have a tendency to flower just inches from the soil.

Fucking A! Hate clay covered buds.
If this happens to you.....water cure becomes best friend.

I never transplant autoflowers

i just plant them as soon as the seed opens in the final container(in my case a hole in the ground)

transplanting autos causes dramatic losses in yield

This makes sense for sure. I have about 60 DR and crosses and am wondering what the best plan of attack will be.

I really want each and every female to be able to shine and I don't want yield affected by transplanting after sexing.

Without having 60 8 liter containers for every seedling what would the best plan of attack be?

Seems like putting them all straight in the ground would be the most feasible.

Would rather have them in burlap type bags though, I just cant see myself having 60 of those to start.

Thoughts?

Hi exer,
I've done several outdoor AFgrows, also big ones ... I notice that schwilly and THC123 ( a connoisseur ) have experience with AF outdoors.
My advice for 1000 AF outdoors :
1. start now to fertilize your grow area;
2. get some trays for 2000 seedlings

;
3. sow and as soon as the roots break the ground you put them in mother earth (minimum 40 - 50 cm between plants);
4. after 4 - 6 days you can FIM them ones;
5. pull out the males;
6. harvest, cure and enjoy

Good luck
