Thank you, that was my first concept as well, but when I read you say somewhere that the impurities in any other extraction than a BHO extraction causes permanent stains in clothing, my idea for adding the water was to filter out some of these impurities - espesially since I haven't located any high percentage ethanhol alcohol yet and may have to do the extraction with rice wine (made right across the street by a cute old gal and her husband who wouldn't let me leave without sampling their product).
Another reason for this inquiry is that it's looking dicier and dicier about obtaining a large amount of cannabis over here in Viet Nam. Just got a report of a kid I've known over the years who is in prison now for an extended period for being in posession of a larger than user-adequate amount. From ISO extractions I've done before, and still have at home in the States, I can attest that there is a distinctive MJ oder to them and would feel less secure sending some HAO back here through the mail if that were the only possibility.
Anyway, thanks for all the personal feedback, and starting this thread in general. I've learned a lot and will report again if this project goes any further.

Butane is a non polar solvent with slight water solubility, so water soluble polar material pick up is low. Unless you do a long soak, it shouldn't be a serious issue.

I cannot thank you enough for sharing this recipe with the community. Over the past few months I have been turning my claim into HAO every time it starts to build up. I then started kicking down dram bottles of it to a friend, who passed it onto a family member with cancer.
I did not know if it was helping or not, but just recently I have been told that this magic elixir has been stimulating this person's appetite in a way that nothing else has! According to the nurse, it is working wondrously. (She call's it Jesus Juice, which I find ironic, for the recipe is from the Old Testament, whereas Jesus didn't show up until the New Testament).

ok i have 21 grams of quality dry ice hash, some organic coconut and olive oil and cinnamon oil. do i have to make bho out the hash first or can i just put hash rigth into the oils and cook? not found of using butane. if similar question has already been asked and answered sorry for the repeat. will the hash melt into an oil if i put in pyrex dish and heat that with an oil or water bath?
^you could just wash it in 99 percent iso alcohol in a mason jar, and then use a coffee filter. it wont be as clean because it is polar, like gray wolf said, but you could avoid using the butane and still get an oilier product. Not sure if it will wok for the holy shit recipe though. G.W. will have to answer that.

Yeah, Jesus was the new kid on the block, while Cannabis use dates to antiquity! I'm guessing he dug it and approved though!

the formula calls for hash oil. makes no difference how you make the hash oil, save what you may do to formulate for a specific symptom, say sleep for instance. a heated process will produce a more sedative product in the form of holy shit or holy anointing oil formulated for sleep. you still have holy anointing oil.
What HZ said about using ethanol. Since you are starting with hash, it will make a nice clean tasty oil, with little to no chlorophyll.
No need for a quick wash. Take your time if you are starting with kif, the chlorophll is mostly out of the equasion.
That depends a lot on the kif. Maybe 16/18grams?
Probably, but I've never tried it or have a clue what the yield might be.

man i love threads with quick responses. was just curious gray cause that cinnamon oil aint cheap. im fixing to start with the ISO wash here in a few minutes. im nervous as hell. this is the most hash i have EVER had at one time and its kinda wierd not smoking it, plus this oil stuff is all new to me. ive never smoked or made any kind of oil product before so crossing my fingers i dont mess this up.

Well that didn't go so well. Did the ISO wash with the hash I had then filtered using a coffe filter. I noticed what looked like wet hash in the filter once all the ISO had run thru. During the oil bath to decarb the glass broke and the ISO/oil went everywhere once it hit the hot oil bath. Lost all of it onto kitchen floor. This sucks.
I have decarbed in glass, but broke a few jars myself, so use Pyrex or stainless now.
If you use glass, you have to put it in the oil at maybe 150F and bring up the temperature.
PS: I lost two in the same oil bath, which I bottled up and made some oil for a friends pooch with arthritis. Hoss went from crippled, to jumping into the pickup seat again and died happy in his old age.
