Well I hydro so that makes them regulars around here. Nematodes seem to be catching up,24 dollars at the local hydro store.diatematous earth I hear works, again the grow store. Mosquito dunks crushed on top of your soil, farm and feed stores. Good luck

I just got rid of mine. Use lots of yellow sticky traps near the plants and the kicker is to use "good" dry sheets near your intake and around the grow medium of the plant. Good dryer sheets mean snuggle or gain or something really strong smelling. Not no name sheets. Hope this helps.

I've had good luck with the mosquito dunks they sell at Lowes/Home Depot. I crumble 1/4 tsp and sprinkle on the top so everytime I water some goes in. Also I put a little bit in the plates under the pots that catches runoff water. It's not instant but in a couple weeks there will be no more gnats. When I see a few flyers I treat again. My cat loves to catch them but doesn't get enough to make a differance. LOL

use insecticidal soap, spray the top of the soil and the outside of your pots and all around the floor, also use the mosquito dunks
no chemical pesticides should be used when in flower.

sevin-5 powder insecticide. This is not used on the plant but as a top dressing for 3 days. Works every time..

diatomatious earth! i'm really amazed that it took like 8 replies to get the ONLY correct answer to one of the easiest questions in indoor growing. its the only thing you should ever use for gnats, using chemical poisons to kill what is basically a harmless nuisance is pure idiocy...ESPECIALLY when all you have to do is sprinkle a light dusting of dirt cheep white power on your soil, killing them all in days!

diatomatious earth is cheep, completely safe, and extremely effective. buy a bag and it will last forever!

d. earth si the best

get food grade at agway

still wear a mask but food grade safer

mosquito dunks are bacteria and also an organic solution but offer not benefit to the plant

d. earth also adds other nutritional benefits

many people add it as a preventative to the soil

i do not

you'll be fine just sprinkle a tad on top of soil then water into soil
of course if ya have fans on blown turn off during this or you may blow the DE around room after watering turn fans back on.

in addition to the above I keep a paint screen over my intake on my cooltubes
it helps keeps the bulbs clean and helps with the fliers
and if I have gnat probs,
then every week depending on your prob a few hundred dead gnats are caught in it.

what is basically a harmless nuisance
senor sloth, pests like gnats and whiteflies can be a harmless nusance at best
at worst they serve as vectors that spread plant disease's/bacterial/viral infections
and even other much more serious insect pests such as broad mites
kill em all!
kiil em now!

what do you do about the gnats that live
in the drainage holes short of a root drench?
I have no more prob with the top but when watered they will come out of the drain holes on the grow bags, I keep bug spray handy but its just a control, not a cure

i use a 1/4 cup messureing cup to get some then i use a large soup spoon even not heaped. and sprinkle it over top it'll take 2-3 spoons full then i'll spread it like in landscaping. kinda lol then just water gently so then DE washes into the soil and not to the sides.

the gnats that live die when they go back into the soil to lay larve. i water for 15-20% drainage out the bottom all the gnats larve die.

and for duders comment {what is basically a harmless nuisance }
not really harmless because the larve feed on the same substance the micozi bacteria and fungi feed on. they compeate when your infested and the plants will suffer some.
