In and of itself, it does not exist... nothing can or we'd experience it the exact same. It is simply given "form" via thought and the intention behind your actions. The trick is to, like, love unconditionally. It's a sweet trick.

You would think that such an important question as to the existence of an alternate reality or a metaphysical state unrelated to the common one we share bounded by physics, would have reams of empirical evidence given it's large numbers of proponents.

Anyone? Empirical...100% repeatable outcome experiments?

As long as we're talking about a bowl full of hypotheses, isn't the topic somewhat like arguing which color M&M tastes better?
Yet people are here making statements in the declarative as if they are really on to something big and you are lucky to hear it.

Hypothesis...(cut and paste)

Now, if those quantum guys come up with something...
They better bring some string back.

Didn't want to start a new thread, I think it fits here.

I had a really weird dream last night.
Then it dawned on me "Who is the author of my dreams?"
I didn't consent to have this simulated reality while I slumbered.
Some part of my brain manufactured this "faux" reality.
So if there is a part of my brain that is outside of my control, which at will creates simulated realities, then what else is that part of my brain up to?

Consciousness...or at least what hides behind this word is really the unknown. At the most fundamental level we don't really know anything, we simply have a bunch of beliefs (concepts).

Interesting that you found this thread, I have not posted in it for such a long time.

I see 420 automatically on signs, anywhere . My brazilain friends can spot the tinest brazillian flag on a belt buckle way across the street. I'm sprinting through a hall way, yet I suddenly stop, I spotted a person with the same last name listed on a flyer on the wall.

What is reality if we see things which are meaningfull to us, yet filter out things which have no meaning to us? (at the moment at least)

I wonder how strong our mind's filter really is? If a person were to encounter something that went totally against their world view, could their mind simply erase it?

Reality is composed of DISTINCTIONS. One thing is different from all the other things. A distinction is something that it is not.

This takes a certain amount of awareness to notice, because it is so simple that it is actually missed by us. Most of us believe that reality is complicated, and it is in some ways, but at the fundamental level it is very, very simple.

Think about it: If there were NO DISTINCTIONS, if all the things around us and inside of our minds were NOT DIFFERENT, but instead all the same, there would be NOTHING, because there would be only ONENESS.

This in itself points toward how Consciousness creates what we call reality. From nothing we have something because that something is simply different from something else.

420 is a distinction we make, just like GN, SB, IC, are only letters, but for anyone that reads this site, they will have other meanings, and thus will be distinct.

Actually, anything we are aware of in any way is a distinction. If we are not aware of it, if it is not a distinction in our awareness, it doesn't exist, at least not for us, not in this present moment.

We are the ones making all the distinctions in our awareness, which actually points at one interesting and mysterious thing:

We ARE Consciousness! All the distinctions are being made inside of ourselves. And since consciousness is oneness with a LARGE amounts of distinctions inside of it, what this means is that what we believe to be OURSELVES is really nothing but a distinction inside this ONE Consciousness, similar to a leaf on a tree, or an ant walking outside on the ground.

Dope thread! Lots of reading to do.

UC, glad you like it. Just like this sub-forum says, Light a fat one, and join us in here. Getting to the bottom of the fundamental and true nature of reality and Consciousness is a lot of fun, if it is your cup of tea.

I have been at it since I was 14. Now I'm around 40, and it only gets better and better with age.

BTW...the true nature of reality is nothing/infinity...i.e...no beginning and no end. This is not something that can be grasped by the mind and cannot be believed...in fact it is UNBELIEVABLE.

Anyway, look forward to you posting in this thread :thank you:

Every persons brain sees reality in a completely different way. It starts when our brain is being formed as babies in our mother womb, with each persons brain forming a little differently. This then continues to change throughout our entire life based on both genetics and environmental experiences. This is why some serial killers were born serial killers. When a serial killer knows they are about to kill someone the next day, they get excited as if the next day is Christmas for them. When others of us (like me), cant even kill an insect. Its amazing to think how different each of our realities are.

True. Our interpretations and the meaning our minds provide to what we are experiencing in the present moment are quite different.

What is interesting is that even though we are experiencing and perceiving reality differently, it is all happening at the same present moment, which means that the present moment is an absolute.

By the way, the mind, is a distinction inside consciousness.

The mind is interpreting and giving meaning to our experience through making distinctions between one thing and another. It is doing this mostly as a survival mechanism.

Currently we have mostly cultural-survival, because we live in a culture where mountain lions chase us very rarely.

It is mostly keeping up with the Joneses that is the problem, and surviving in the social-status hierarchy.

there's no such thing as reality besides a whole bunch of nothingness, a vast emptiness that we fill up with all sorts of imaginings and superfluous definitions that construct a bunch of mental maps that we use to nagivate through this voidness.

the real question is: how is it possible we can do that when fundamentally there is absolutely nothing?

:chin:

fuck, I ran out of hash and it is still a long way until more reaches my shores.

All of that is your perception.
