Wow-

now that's funny - I was going to post the same question this AM (EST)

I ended up going with a 600 watt Lumitek HPS - I thought they were pretty solid all around - in regards to 400 and 1k's also

I like the 1000 watt Hortilux super enhanced spectrum . Works for me , & I buy into all that uv in flowering.

Sunmaster enhanced performance hps bulbs put out the most lumens at 150,000 and you can find them for around $75.. I'm thinking of switching from Hortilux myself..

Just bought the Gavita. Going to be the new standard imho.

Was a no brainer as it now costs less than my standard Lumatek, Adjustawing, Hortilux setup.

In 2 years it will still be throwing more light than a new horti.

Another big advantage is the tiny footprint, hardly blocks any airflow from the circulation fans, I had issues with the AAW & other large reflectors.

Digilux put out 155,000 for $65. I don't like them, though.

Didn't know that.. I've used a few different bulbs and Hortilux has given me the best growth with least probs.. Just don't like the price.. Thought about trying those dual arc bulbs or whatever....

seems to be the conclusion w that gavita thread... best bulb is the one that has a matched ballast... so gavita/phillips & the new horti/horti... don't know if there are any others yet.

not sayin i'l trash my c&c's, but maybe the next buy round...?

I personally like my red ushio's, never had a problem with one yet and never had one explode or anything crazy on me *knock on wood*

they aren't necessarily the cheapest but they've always done me well

I use them with 600w and 1k nextgens

i got these cheapo 1000s hps and MH bulb that came with my very cheapo tube, reflector, yoyo and digi ballast package deal for $250 on the bay.
i didn't care for the MH bulbs and got a solarmax and a sunmaster.

ran across a deal on the horti eyes for $120 each and picked up 2,
I had been thinking about them and went for it, I really don't see a difference between them except the $90 difference in cost.
by fall i hope to have a few of the double ended bulbs with the gavita system.
I think the advantages will justify it in the long run

I prefer the Ushio super reds in flowering with the Quantum digital ballast. I've tried alot of the other high end bulbs but never saw any diff in the finished product to make me want to spend the extra cash for them. I also use the Ushio blue's for veg after they get to tall for the T5's and use both red and blue in the Grozilla reflector the last few weeks of flower in the finishing room. I've been doing this for the last year or so and seems to make more resin on the buds tho it adds a week to the flower cycle and i like the way I can adjust the amount of hps or mh with the dimmers depending on the strains needs. I use the mixture in the start of flower sometimes to control the stretch on some strains and it works well foe me.
