Again, ill point to Fiat Money in the 1950's, when tax rates on the top tier were >90%, and

you could have a wife, 3 kids, new house, new car, two weeks vacation a year, and 40 hour a week job.

The drop in tax rates happens to coincide with the fall of American living standards... interesting...

I didnt see any pictures of soup and bread lines for the rich in the 50's either....
-

I agree the tax rate needs to be raised on the wealthy. At the very least the rate on capital gains needs to be bumped up to at least 30% for the upper tier.

But even if we raised income taxes on the rich back to 90% that wouldn't return us to 50s era prosperity. There are so many other factors involved.

We were pretty much the only game in town when it came to cars, our biggest competitors , germany and japan were bombed out shells.

Outsourcing didnt exist, and china and india were third world farmland.

The dollar got you a lot father.

Gas didn't consume such a large percentage of income.

Healthcare didn't bankrupt people.

We were the preeminent Manufacturing superpower.

Education was cheaper.

Most importantly, we cared about building a strong middle class.

I would agree to a point, if you have to extend it you extend Cap Gains though, IMO.

0% Earnred Income Tax
15% Capital Gains Tax - Invested money- Note this could hurt small/med businesses more than Corps and the rich but it would be nice to make the richest have to pay more... They will just hide theirs. That is why RP likes 0% here too. This way we get a more true free market.
15% Corporate Tax

I don't see how we can keep our domestic aid if we keep up the Wars Drug/Overseas and Foreign Aid.

Pundits are claiming their predictions are coming true. Ron Paul doesn't expect to be a player in the presidential election. He's gathering his 10% of the vote and wishes to have a speaking slot at the convention, telling Republicans not to ignore the Ron Paul revolution.

Rick Santorum is whining that Ron Paul is a Romney surrogate, going after Rick and Newt while Mitt and Ron leave each other alone. One might think Paul's a genius for positioning himself in such a way as to avoid Mitt's slime machine.

Rand Paul was just asked if he'd consider being Mitt's VP. Rand said he'd consider it an honor. Might be more to Rick's bitch than whining.

What kind of libertarian considers sex outside of procreation immoral? What about the government should stop ALL abortion? Sounds pretty intrusive to me. I know libertarians who would have a fit with the idea they're supposed to be stigmatized into chastity until they decide to have a baby. This guy sounds way more republican than libertarian.

How come so many prominent, national libertarians aren't Paul supporters? Because he's not a libertarian as much as he's a moral judging republican.

How's Ron gonna pay debt with no income tax and "0% here too"?

I can vote Gary Johnson if Romney/Rand is continuing wars, FED, drug war......I aint scared. I see it as just more MSM spin. Like Ron Paul admitting he is fighting an uphill battle because of MSM, they say he isn't tring.....Just last night he said, "I can win." I think the haters are dreaming, wishing RP was a sell out.

I guess time will tell. It tells everything. I hope it all wasn't some game to help Rand Paul. It's just hard to believe Rand Paul would destroy his fathers hope of being President.......

i think the vp holds no executive power, and can make virtually no change ,its BS,paul would be more poised to change things as treasurey secretary.
theres no point in going for a romney /paul ticket, he's in second place in deligates anyway and again paul deligates wont budge.

You know what's really sad? This..... This just ruined any chance Paul has for becoming President. Now the only question is was it the plan all along?

Rand Paul: 'It Would Be an Honor to Be Considered' As Romney's Veep

Lol really? Boy I really think their are a lotta scared people. So a media whore clown asks about being considered for VP and Rand is polite and responds as I think anyone and frankly almost every person I've ever seen asked on TV does and its supposes to "mean" something...ya I guess..the missing part of the puzzle that isn't presented is he wouldn't do it..asked by national whore press of course he's very polite and says what anyone would. I believe this is manufactured propaganda not news. Again this is just my opinion. Key thing is I understand their positions and support them, this garbage is being targeted at folks like me as well as potential Paul supporters in an effort to harm his credibility ...to me that seems obvious but if you believe it then ok we'll see. Don't hold your breathe.

You make a good point. Media doesn't guess right enough to expect all this playing out accordingly.

I half expected Rand to respond about his dad in some way. It was Rand that reassured Joe Scarborough that his father wouldn't break from the party. I don't get the impression that Ron and Rand ever considered the father son, dynamic duo aspect. Why's Rand not out campaigning for his father more? Kinda weird.

It is all a game but its being perpetuated by the whore media and political establishment. That's my gut feeling but again I support Paul. So I come from that direction . I think its bullshit 99.9% sure much more likely and kind of makes sense. Who the fuck knows?
Fuck I supported Bush but now regret that...hate myself for it...but at the time I really believed....just goes to show ...I've moved farther right over past the moon now and think I know better now we'll see. Don't we all think that really..?

I am surprised this thread is still up and happy. I also realize at any moment it could go bye bye too. Everyone should keep in mind we are all brothers and sisters in a way...connected in a unique way people will someday be telling of as if it were crazy or hard to imagine how we live our lifestyles and share info and support. These kind of threads can be very passionate first hand up on being a dick and rude or whatever but I like to think personally we all grow, just like our flowers. And we need to be sure to pause and realize or remind ourselves "self, I think this Guy is FUCT in da head here on this or that, but in the end he struggles everyday with some of the same things I do and despite that he or she carries on and chooses this flower and chooses to live free despite the inherent risks..and that means something. It means something to me.

So keep that in mind when it gets heated. I am guilty like I said and probably will lose it someday again and go off on someone..but we really are all in this together in the end. I think we all share something pretty special here and its bigger than political differences.

It's funny how things are taken out of context. Of course it would be an honor to be considered for the office of Vice President of the United States, that's a great accomplishment. But we all know how the media spins and twists insignificant issues such as this hearsay don't we?.

I wouldn't put too much in what only some pundits are saying. Romney, Santorum and (Gingrich to much less success) are trying to pick up biscuits. Ron Paul's strategy is picking up crumbs plus biscuits if and where they exist. Not that that's dishonorable... any way to get to what, 1144? is legit. It's just not apparent in the layout and the numbers that Paul can actually accumulate the necessary delegates. Nobody's ever done this before and we'd say pundits were asleep at the wheel if they didn't discuss something this unusual.

Just imagine yourself being a US senator, your representative father just happens to be running for president and the interviewer asks if you'd accept the vice presidency of the front runner.

If it were me I might preempt with a plug for my father before virtually endorsing Romney. Might even say I'd prefer to be my father's VP. Unless of course they're not ideologically aligned enough to consider it.

Ron paul needs to control 50% of the crumbs, and that will never happen.

The smartest thing for Newt to do right now is to get behind Santorm, quid pro quo, for his VP spot. I assume they will coalesce at the convention anyway.

After Gingrich locks down GA and Tenn (or Miss? cant remember) on Super Tuesday, the ability for anyone to win a MAJORITY will be in serious doubt.

The only thing constant about this primary season has been Anti-Romney has been beating Romney.

I would like to mention that psychology has been mastered and the media is the most powerful psychological weapon on planet earth. It's a magic wand controlled by some of the wealthiest and greedy human beings on the planet.

I bet he's planning on getting enough defectors from the other 2 to make it a real race maybe I'm not 100% clear on what would happen at a brokered convention

...and would those who control the media benefit from lower taxes or higher taxes...

I know what Dr Paul is trying to do... does he know what will come from it?

blowback = unintended consequences. (like funding the afghan religious zealots to fight the godless communist soviets.)

Dr Paul is trying to move us back to the mid 19th century tax wise, the same way Santorum is trying to move us back religious wise.

Audit the Fed, End the Drug War (and as a result end the Border war), but the tax policy is totally unsound given the 18 trillion (at least) debt we have.
